Chapter Ninety-Five: A Stunning Sight
As Zhang Qiu was busy making preparations, in a regular private room of a white fire kv in the county town, Liu Xiaolong and a large group of people were welcoming Liu Xiaofei, who had just been released from prison. The table was filled with opened beer bottles and discarded fruit peels. The room was warm, and a group of men were shirtless, displaying various tattoos. Amidst the swirling smoke, Liu Xiaolong reached out to touch the thigh of a princess beside him, while shaking a wine glass in his other hand, saying to Liu Xiaofei, "Xiaofei, come on, let's drink!"
Liu Xiaofei clinked his bottle with Liu Xiaolong's and took several big gulps. "Bro, I've been suffocating in there. Your brother isn't stupid; we won't kill anyone, but I want revenge and will deal with that guy severely."
Liu Xiaolong chuckled teasingly, "What a loser, getting himself locked up over a woman. Don't worry; I'll make sure to take care of him for you!"
"Is Tiger Lord getting involved?" Liu Xiaofei asked.
Mentioning Tiger Lord made Liu Xiaolong become respectful; he removed his hand from the princess and looked seriously at Liu Xiaofei. "That guy Zhang Qiu doesn't deserve our Tiger Lord's involvement. Just us brothers are enough. Zeng Fan told me he has a fight arranged with Zhang Qiu behind the old city near the school. We'll go join the fun then." Liu Xiaolong finished with a proud smile.
Liu Xiaofei laughed heartily, "Bro, so you had it all planned out." Knowing everything was arranged made Liu Xiaofei feel great; he chugged some more beer and pulled a princess over to sit in the corner with a lewd grin.
...
The homecoming week at Beiluan High School started after the third period in the morning. At that time, it was exactly eleven o'clock, giving parents ample time to arrive regardless of distance. The school gate was crowded with parents picking up students, and the nearby street was jammed with traffic, honking incessantly.
During this time of dismissal, whether it was the naive First Year students or the exhausted seniors preparing for college entrance exams, every student felt a longing for home that even the pressure of exams couldn't change. After a month of intense study, every student had been under enough pressure and needed release. Boarding students could go home to spend time with family and enjoy good meals. Day students could also get a brief respite and meet friends.
With ten minutes left before the bell rang, the classroom was already buzzing with excitement. The teachers merely watched without intervening; they were all about to take exams anyway, so relieving some stress wasn't bad—studying didn't suffer from these few minutes. Zhang Qiu had already packed everything up and was fixated on the clock at the front of the classroom; each passing second felt incredibly long.
"Ding! Ding! Ding!" The bell finally rang. Zhang Qiu suddenly stood up from his seat and waved his hand decisively, saying, "Let's go." Gao Zhi, Zhao Pingchuan, Wang Zhengxiang, and Yao Yu all got up along with their classmates who had joined them as Brothers, heading down the stairs in a large group.
Zhang Qiu borrowed the classroom key from the class leaders, placing his bag inside to avoid carrying it around while he handled other matters.
The members of Hall Society were all assigned to Gao Zhi, Zhao Pingchuan, Wang Zhengxiang, and Yao Yu. They had already instructed everyone that as soon as the class bell rang, all Hall Society members were to gather at the west gate of Senior High Building.
“How’s it going? Is everything arranged?” Zhang Qiu asked Zhao Pingchuan.
“Don’t worry, Brother Qiu. I’ve got everything sorted out. By now, they’re already on their way,” Zhao Pingchuan replied.
Zhang Qiu nodded in satisfaction but suddenly noticed Jiang Xue had come along. Concerned that things might get chaotic and he wouldn’t be able to look after her, Zhang Qiu quickly said, “You shouldn’t participate in today’s action. I…”
Before Zhang Qiu could finish, Jiang Xue interrupted him, looking up defiantly and asking, “Why? Do you think I can’t handle it just because I’m a girl?”
Seeing Jiang Xue pouting like a wronged wife made Zhang Qiu chuckle. “I’m just worried you might get hurt. It’s going to be chaotic, and there will be a lot of rough guys around.”
“Hmph! I don’t care; I’m going,” Jiang Xue insisted, determined to join.
Seeing her persistence, Zhang Qiu decided not to stop her any longer. He thought he could arrange for two people to protect her when things got heated.
Gao Zhi approached Zhang Qiu and said, “Brother Qiu, I think this is about all the people we’ll have today.”
Zhang Qiu glanced around at Gao Zhi, Zhao Pingchuan, Wang Zhengxiang, and Yao Yu; each of them had a group of people behind them. Most were still in their school uniforms—some were seniors, some sophomores, and even a few first-years. Roughly estimating, there were about forty people present, which made Zhang Qiu feel satisfied. After all, these were students who were afraid of trouble and had joined the society to avoid being bullied. Now that they faced a strong opponent, it felt less safe within the society.
There would always be some who didn’t want to contribute and hoped others would do the work for them so they could enjoy the results. Zhang Qiu was grateful that these brothers showed up. Looking at their youthful faces, he said, “Brothers, I am Zhang Qiu, your president.”
A round of enthusiastic applause erupted, abruptly cutting off Zhang Qiu's words. Zhang Qiu waited for the applause to subside before continuing, "First of all, I want to thank all of you. You are all here, true men with spirit and courage. As you all know, this is our club's first time going into a fight, and the opponent is the recognized leader of the senior class, but I refuse to believe in that!"
Zhang Qiu suddenly raised his voice, almost shouting, "The leader of Beiluan No. 1 High School should always be an ordinary student—each and every one of you! This time could determine whether our club continues to exist! If we win, everyone can study in peace, and no one will dare bully us again. For a better environment and for our own interests, should we win? Can we win?"
"We can win!" Zhang Qiu's emotionally charged words stirred the group of young people into a frenzy, their shouts growing louder and drawing curious glances from passersby. Zhang Qiu looked at the cheering crowd, satisfied with the effect he had achieved. This was not just a pre-battle mobilization; it was also excellent publicity to show everyone the pride of Hall Society.
"Let's go!" With Zhang Qiu's command, the large group slowly moved toward the school gate. Jiang Xue walked beside Zhang Qiu and suddenly linked her arm with his. Zhang Qiu was momentarily taken aback but continued walking forward. Behind him were Gao Zhi, Zhao Pingchuan, Wang Zhengxiang, and Yao Yu closely following, with about forty others trailing behind.
Notably, the large group marched in four columns like a brave people's army, striding forward with great vigor, capturing attention and later becoming a topic of conversation among people during their leisure time.
