Chapter 106: The Edge of Life and Death
At Beilan County Hospital, an ambulance rushed in with its siren blaring and came to a steady stop at the front entrance. As soon as the back doors of the ambulance opened, the doctors and nurses who had been waiting on-site immediately rushed to assist the injured. A male doctor patted a female nurse beside him and said, "Quickly, prepare to rescue the patient."
Wang Jinghan, recovering from her shock, realized that the young man lying on the stretcher was Liu Xiaofei. Shortly after the ambulance arrived, several heavy motorcycles roared into the hospital entrance. A security guard shouted while chasing after them with a rubber baton in hand. The motorcycles stopped at the lobby entrance, and Liu Xiaolong dismounted without paying any attention to the pursuing security guard, striding directly into the lobby.
The remaining two men stood by their motorcycles, watching the security guard approach with cold eyes.
"You guys can't park here; move your motorcycles to the parking lot!" shouted the security guard.
One of the men stepped in front of the guard, looking down at him since he was less than five feet seven inches tall, and sneered, "You keep an eye on our motorcycles. If anything happens to them, you're done for."
After saying that, he turned away without another word. The security guard stood frozen in place as he watched them leave without looking back and sighed, "Same age as us; how come they can be so carefree?" He then glanced at the motorcycles parked at the entrance and muttered, "Wow, those must cost a fortune."
In the hospital lobby, Liu Xiaolong stopped a nurse and asked, "Where is the emergency patient that was just brought in?"
The nurse immediately thought of the person who had just been pushed into the emergency room and pointed towards the corner of the hallway, saying, "Just arrived and taken to the emergency room, over there."
Liu Xiaolong ran in the direction the nurse indicated, and a brother following him said to the nurse, "He's the victim's brother."
In the corridor outside the emergency room, Liu Xiaolong sat on a chair with his hands on his head, his face pale and his eye sockets slightly sunken.
