Chapter 148: It Seems to Be Bad News 0

Zhang Qiu didn't really care how others viewed him, but he didn't want to be so ostentatious. He thought he would definitely clarify things with them after class; greetings should be occasion-appropriate. The classmates were quietly studying, and such a sudden shout would disrupt everyone's review, a burden Zhang Qiu couldn't bear. 0

As Zhang Qiu walked towards his seat, his gaze fell on Jiang Xue's desk. Her textbooks were neatly stacked on the shelf, and to the left lay an unfinished exam paper, with a black gel pen quietly resting there, evoking a sense of desolation. 0

Having reached his seat, Zhang Qiu turned back to Jiang Xue's desk, carefully folded the exam paper and tucked it into one of the books. He tightly gripped the black gel pen in his hand and returned to his own seat. 0

As soon as Zhang Qiu sat down, Wang Zhengxiang said, "Brother Qiu, are we going to gather everyone today?" 0

"Yes," Zhang Qiu nodded seriously. "Not only do we need to gather everyone, but I also have a task for you." 0

Wang Zhengxiang perked up at the mention of a task from Brother Qiu. 0

"Please compile a list of the members who participated in the Ancient City Battle and record their contact information. Additionally, separately list the injured members and provide me with that list," Zhang Qiu added after some thought. "Can I give you two hours for this?" 0

"Sure, Brother Qiu, no problem," Wang Zhengxiang agreed and then asked, "Brother Qiu, does the school already know about the Ancient City Battle?" 0

"I think they probably do." 0

"Then how will the school handle it?" During the fight, Wang Zhengxiang hadn't cared about this issue at all. Even after the fight was over, he remained indifferent until last night when he learned he would be returning to school soon. Worry began to creep in and intensified to the point where he couldn't sleep well. 0

Zhang Qiu was more optimistic. "This time, I feel like nothing serious will happen. The law doesn't punish the majority; too many people are involved. If everyone went home to reflect on it, how many would that be? There would be over a hundred students from Senior Year alone—imagine that!" 0

Just as Zhang Qiu finished speaking and Wang Zhengxiang was about to breathe a sigh of relief, Grade Director Zhao stormed into the classroom with an imposing presence. Standing at the classroom door with hands on hips, he shouted, "Zhang Qiu, come out here." 0

"Brother Qiu, this doesn't look good," Wang Zhengxiang said nervously as he observed Director Zhao's furious expression. 0

Seeing Director Zhao's aggressive demeanor made Zhang Qiu uneasy as well. He hadn't been confident about what he had just told Wang Zhengxiang; it was merely meant to comfort him. Now that Director Zhao appeared in such a manner, Zhang Qiu understood that things might not end well. 0

Under the watchful eyes of his classmates, Zhang Qiu stepped out of the classroom, causing it to buzz with activity once more. 0

"Damn it, I hope Brother Qiu is okay." 0

"Should we go take a look?" 0

"Everyone be quiet, quiet!" The duty officer stood up and shouted hoarsely, finally managing to calm the students down. 0

Zhang Qiu followed Director Zhao into the Director's Office. 0

"Close the door," Director Zhao said. 0

Zhang Qiu closed the door and smiled as he looked at Director Zhao, asking, "Director Zhao, what do you need me for?" 0

"You can still smile? What have you done?" Director Zhao looked at him with disappointment, pacing back and forth in the narrow Director's Office without even sitting down. 0

"Director Zhao, what have I done?" Zhang Qiu feigned ignorance, wanting to gauge how much Director Zhao knew about the situation. 0

Director Zhao stopped in front of Zhang Qiu: "What do you mean what have you done? Last week during the break, behind the school at the ancient city, what were you doing?" 0

Seeing Director Zhao getting angry, Zhang Qiu obediently replied, "Director, I wanted to talk to you about that. Last week during the break, some people gathered a group to beat me up." 0

"Were you beaten by others or did you beat someone else?" Director Zhao glared at Zhang Qiu angrily, wishing he could slap him. This Zhang Qiu always got himself into trouble; every time he returned, it was never peaceful, and he always stirred up bigger messes. 0

"Director Zhao, it really was others who beat me! It was terrible; not only were there people from our school but also some thugs from outside. Director Zhao, you have to help me," Zhang Qiu said with a pitiful expression, shaking Director Zhao's arm like a wronged person meeting a just official. 0

Director Zhao shook off Zhang Qiu's arm angrily and said, "Don't give me that nonsense; who doesn't know that your fights are prearranged? And I've heard that someone has been taken into custody. Is that true or not?" 0

Zhang Qiu met Director Zhao's gaze and nodded. 0

Director Zhao snorted coldly and began pacing in the Director's Office with his hands behind his back: "Zhang Qiu, how many times have I told you this? You never listen. You never let me rest easy. Every time I take care of you, you cause such a big mess. Let me tell you this time; no one can help you." 0

Zhang Qiu's heart sank. He could handle his own issues, but what about his brothers? There were dozens of them. Zhang Qiu hurriedly asked, "Director Zhao, how does the school plan to deal with this? What about the others?" 0

Director Zhao stared at Zhang Qiu for a moment before slowly saying, "The handling of this matter hasn't been decided yet. You'll be notified when there's news." 0

Zhang Qiu nodded; he wasn't surprised by this outcome. If the director had directly announced for him to go home, that would have been strange. This incident was different from usual; too many students were involved, and the school had to be cautious. As long as the school hesitated, he could feel reassured. Zhang Qiu looked at Director Zhao and asked, "Director, can I go back to class now?" 0

"Go, go, go, quiet down and wait for the school's notification!" Director Zhao said sternly. 0

Zhang Qiu quickly responded and left. The situation had already spiraled out of his control, but perhaps that was for the best; no one could predict how it would ultimately unfold, so it would come down to who could laugh last. 0

When Zhang Qiu returned to the classroom and had just sat down, a group of people surrounded him, asking, "Brother Qiu, are you okay?" 0

Zhang Qiu smiled and reassured them one by one, "Everyone can relax, I'm fine." The classroom only quieted down when the teacher arrived. The class passed just like that, and Zhang Qiu thought the homeroom teacher would come to talk to him; Director Zhao knew about it, so surely the homeroom teacher must know as well. However, to Zhang Qiu's surprise, Zhao Guohong did not appear. 0

As soon as the bell rang for class to end, Zhang Qiu nudged his deskmate and stood up to call out, "Gao Zhi, Zhao Pingchuan, come with me." 0

"Where are we going, Brother Qiu?" Gao Zhi casually asked. 0

Before Zhang Qiu could answer, Zhao Pingchuan chimed in with a smile, "Brother Qiu is going to pay a visit, right Brother Qiu?" Zhao Pingchuan looked at Zhang Qiu. 0

"Of course I'm going to check on the brothers; let's go." 0

Zhang Qiu elongated his tone and confidently led the three brothers out of the classroom. When they reached the doorway, they found the hallway packed tightly with students. Zhang Qiu's appearance sparked a wave of excitement as students waved their hands and shouted Brother Qiu. 0
