"Now, it seems we are facing a new problem."
Zhang Qiu was the first to break the silence, and Lucia and Prince Banan snapped back to reality. As Zhang Qiu had said, a new and more serious issue lay before them. The recent event was beyond the explanation of modern science; despite being hard to believe, it was something everyone had witnessed firsthand, and no one could avoid this problem.
"Now, let's interpret the message conveyed by the jade pendant," Zhang Qiu said, putting away his piece of jade. "From what the pendant shows us, the transmission is undoubtedly true, and there has been little human interpretation during its circulation. The three leaders of different skin colors are our ancestors. Long ago, our ancestors united to repel those so-called 'gods,' those ugly beings."
"If this video were to be made public, it would rewrite all of human history." Lucia's heart raced as she realized she was caught in the vortex of time; she couldn't help but feel excited—this was incredibly adventurous.
"What we need to consider first is how to protect humanity. If history repeats itself, it would be a catastrophic disaster for the entire Earth."
"Prince Banan is right," Zhang Qiu agreed with Prince Banan's concern. "According to the information in the video, those ugly beings are clearly eyeing Earth. The purpose of our ancestors leaving this message is twofold: first, to inform us of that painful history; second, to remind us to be vigilant. In our ancestors' time, there were flying dragons and strange weapons. We do not have those things; that generation created a civilization we do not know to combat invasion. Now, it's time for our generation's industrial civilization to defend our homeland."
"Ah!" Zhang Qiu exclaimed in pain as he felt a sharp ache in his arm. He looked at Lucia and asked, "Why did you pinch me?"
Lucia blinked and explained, "I feel like all of this is a dream."
Zhang Qiu replied helplessly, "Then you should pinch yourself; in a dream, I am an illusory existence, and my pain is merely a figment of your imagination."
Seeing Lucia actually pinch herself, Zhang Qiu quickly grabbed her wrist and laughed, "Alright, alright, I was just teasing you. This is not a dream; it truly exists."
"Sigh!" Lucia sighed deeply and looked up at the ceiling. "No wonder it seems Apollo's moon landing was real."
There have always been conspiracy theorists claiming that the Apollo moon landing event in 1969 was a grand hoax, with the main point of doubt being a flag that appeared to flutter. The official explanation was that the fibers on the flag were tangled together, creating an illusion of waving. Among widely circulated information in society were many claims about that time. Some even asserted that during the live broadcast when Armstrong landed on the moon, radio devices intercepted communications between NASA and the astronauts, confirming the existence of intelligent life beyond humanity. In the following years, both superpowers—the U.S. and the Soviet Union—landed on the moon multiple times during their rivalry but eventually coincidentally halted their moon landing plans, which raised many questions.
"Regardless of whether Apollo's moon landing was real or not, the existence of extraterrestrial life is an undeniable fact. What’s frustrating is that these extraterrestrial beings are extremely unfriendly."
"With Earth so close to the moon, aren't those ugly beings watching us every moment?"
"What should we do?"
Indeed, what should be done? Lucia asked a question that everyone wanted to know. When alien life invades, resistance is inevitable; now the question is how to resist. The thought of Earth, which had been peaceful for less than a hundred years, being engulfed in war again made Zhang Qiu's heart ache. Is peace so far out of reach?
"I was thinking, should we report this issue to the permanent members of the United Nations?" Prince Banan furrowed his brow, as a prince, he first considered solving it at the national level.
"Will anyone believe us?" Lucia asked.
"We have the jade pendant; we can demonstrate it to them."
"It’s better not to do that," Zhang Qiu shook his head. "There’s no such thing as a wall that doesn’t let air through. The more people know, the faster it spreads. Once the news leaks out, it will inevitably cause panic. Before the aliens even invade, we would be in chaos ourselves."
Zhang Qiu also considered Prince Banan's feelings. The world situation is ever-changing, and human emotions are complex and unpredictable. In the face of interests, even fathers and sons can turn against each other; how much more so between nations? If that happens, not only would an effective alliance fail to form, but it could also trigger a third world war, which would be a huge loss.
Prince Banan and Lucia turned their gazes toward Zhang Qiu. Lucia asked, "Do you have a better plan?"
"I have an idea, but I’m not sure if it’s better." Zhang Qiu indeed had his own thoughts on this matter.
"What is it?"
"Actually, I’ve been thinking that since fate has chosen us to become the Jade Pendant Heirs, there must be a reason for it. Perhaps there exists some fundamental law in the universe that governs everything quietly in accordance with these basic principles. For example, why did we meet? It’s because we need to unite to solve problems. Now that the three of us who possess the jade pendant are here, can we understand this as being able to solve things when the time comes?"
A heavy atmosphere hung in the air, heavier than war itself. After a long while, Lucia said, "Your reasoning is quite magical."
Zhang Qiu smiled and replied, "Isn't the development of events even more magical?"
Lucia was left speechless.
"Putting hope in anyone else is not as good as putting hope in ourselves. We should have confidence in ourselves. Let's not forget, it is fate that chose us; we are the heirs of the Jade Pendant!" Zhang Qiu said, pounding his chest with conviction. Relying on oneself is the most important lesson Zhang Qiu has learned over the past six months.
"I think Zhang Qiu makes a lot of sense," Prince Banan nodded in agreement. "Why did fate choose us? I don't think that's a coincidence."
"This is crazy, everyone is talking about the choices of fate," Lucia said, looking disheartened. "Since you two are like this, what else can I do? I might as well join you in your madness; after all, we are all Jade Pendant Heirs."
"Haha..." Zhang Qiu and Prince Banan laughed heartily. Despite being overwhelmed by the domestic situation, Prince Banan felt a strange sense of relief.
"Prince Banan," Zhang Qiu looked at him with wise eyes and suddenly thought of an excellent reason to persuade him. "Now that we bear such heavy burdens, we cannot afford to take it easy in our future lives. We need to keep working hard and improving ourselves so that our abilities can support our goals."
"That's inspiring," Prince Banan clapped his hands repeatedly. "You're right; we need to ensure our abilities can support our goals."
"So," a smile appeared on Zhang Qiu's face as he hooked Prince Banan in, "Lucia and I want to stay and fight alongside you. You shouldn't refuse us anymore; this is a rare opportunity for both Lucia and me to gain experience. You wouldn't want your future companions who will share great responsibilities with you to be useless, would you?"
"So you were waiting for me here," Prince Banan realized he had fallen into Zhang Qiu's trap. "Alright, I agree to let you both stay and work hard with me to bring spring to the Santanian people!" Prince Banan laughed heartily, proud to have met such good friends.
Zhang Qiu and Lucia exchanged glances and smiled.
"I have a proposal," Zhang Qiu said.
"You!" Prince Banan found Zhang Qiu to be an extraordinary person; he was increasingly fond of hearing Zhang Qiu's ideas.
"We never expected that such a big secret was hidden within the pendant. We need to keep this secret tightly guarded; there's no need to elaborate on that. As we develop and grow in the future, some insiders will inevitably learn about this secret; this is determined by our mission itself and cannot be avoided. Therefore, I think we should establish a confidentiality agreement, just like special forces do, where only those who sign the agreement can access confidential information. If unfortunate leaks occur, we can quickly identify the source and put a stop to it."
"I completely agree," Lucia gave Zhang Qiu a thumbs up.
Prince Banan sighed, "Zhang Qiu, you really don't seem like a student at all."
"What do I resemble?"
"You resemble a politician, a very shrewd politician."
Zhang Qiu chuckled lightly, "I wish I were just a student." This was not Zhang Qiu trying to be coy; it was his true feelings. So much had happened in the past six months that Zhang Qiu's life trajectory had completely changed. This was not something a person under twenty should experience; a quiet desk was what Zhang Qiu longed for. Now, he even regretted not cherishing his student days and felt remorse for sleeping during morning study sessions.
After the three finished their discussion, Prince Banan shot a sharp glance at his Chief Administrator. The White-Bearded Man immediately responded, "Your Highness, please rest assured that I will do my utmost to assist you and will keep this secret for life."
"Good," Prince Banan nodded. He had no intention of blaming him for his recklessness, as the prince understood the Chief Administrator's loyalty to him. The intrusion was related to his own safety. Prince Banan said, "You will draft the confidentiality agreement regarding this matter. Once it's completed, you must sign it as well."
"Yes," the White-Bearded Man quickly agreed, "I will do my best to complete it as soon as possible."
"Go for it, Jade Pendant Heir!" Lucia shouted.
"Let's go!"
