You Were Born a Nobleman, Chapter 43: Money in the Bank, People in Heaven
Kong Xuan and Lang Ye jumped into the clear lake one after another, leaving Tang Zisu in her long green dress lying on a giant rock. Shu Que Wu Pan.
After a short while, Tang Zisu woke up.
She opened her eyes but instinctively closed them again; the blinding golden light hurt her eyes and further confused her mind.
Where is this? Why is everything glowing with golden light?
Tang Zisu lifted her sore neck, struggling to get up from the stone, squinting to observe her surroundings.
It seemed to be a valley, but strangely there was not an inch of soil; everywhere was scattered gold, silver, crystals, and jade. These treasures sparkled brilliantly in various colors, and even the mirror-like calm surface of the lake changed colors like a neon light.
Tang Zisu grabbed a handful of the sparkling treasures and examined them closely under her eyes. Then she calmly threw herself onto them, stretching out her arms in a possessive gesture. Damn it, I'm not excited at all; it's just a huge pile of gold! I don't care at all! This time I won't buy from Soy Milk Shop; instead, I'll acquire Little Penguin to find Dog 250.
The daydream lasted only 59 seconds before a strong sense of despair—money in the bank but people in heaven—hit Tang Zisu like a wave, leaving her feeling unwell.
What good is having money? A truckload of gold can't turn into a steamed bun or a friend to lean on.
Friends? Where are Xuan Xuan and Ahei?
“Xuan Xuan, where are you?” After calling out several times without any response, Tang Zisu became frightened. Could it be true that beautiful women have short lives and she had already been captured by a monster to become a cave wife?
Tang Zisu nervously tugged at a bamboo leaf, completely unaware that this bamboo had actually grown from gold and silver.
As she slipped and fell in an awkward position, the ground was the most luxurious she had ever encountered, making her fall seem extravagant. The pain swept through her legs like a grand spectacle, and as her legs throbbed, her mind cleared. She finally remembered how she had lost consciousness.
Kong! Xuan! You! Wicked! Bad! Egg!
Tang Zisu was both angry and annoyed; all the pretended strength she had built up since her arrival collapsed in an instant. She closed her eyes, tears streaming down like beads from a broken string, pattering against the bamboo leaves.
Liars, all liars. I hate you so much. I swear to the Jade Emperor, Buddha, Queen Mother, Jesus, Zeus, and Athena that if I catch you, I will fry you, roast you, stew you, and prepare eighteen different dishes for a grand feast!
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the dense bamboo grove. Tang Zisu was so scared that she didn’t dare to cry anymore. She pinched her red little nose and nervously watched the swaying branches.
A small white ball of fluff rolled out from within. Its pointy ears twitched constantly while its red eyes cautiously surveyed Tang Zisu.
“What a cute little rabbit.” Tang Zisu reached out and grabbed the rabbit by its ears, pulling it into her arms.
The little rabbit wasn’t afraid of her; its tiny nose sniffed at her palm while its whiskers trembled. Tang Zisu smiled through her tears: “Little one, why are you all alone? Did your companions abandon you? Don’t be afraid; I’m here to protect you. Let those damned people go to hell.”
The little rabbit seemed to understand Tang Zisu’s words as it nuzzled against her fingers with its fluffy body, looking exceptionally adorable.
Tang Zisu felt her heart melt with affection as she held the little rabbit close to her face, gently rubbing its soft fur.
Just as Tang Zisu was immersed in the moment, the little rabbit's red eyes suddenly took on an eerie blood-like hue. It opened its mouth, and two rows of sharp, pointed teeth sank into Tang Zisu's throat.
