Kong Xuan frowned and said, "If I heard correctly, the scripture you just recited is---"
"The Blood Bowl Sutra, specifically for women giving birth," Ksitigarbha replied lightly, as if it were a matter of course.
This was astonishing to Tang Zisu and her companions!
Ksitigarbha pressed his palms together and said, "Amitabha. There is a saying that one thing restrains another; like brine on tofu, this Bone Demon fears the impurities associated with childbirth."
Lang Ye, unable to hold back, blurted out the truth that everyone knew: "Bodhisattva, did you just sprinkle the—impurities from childbirth?"
Ksitigarbha lowered his gaze with his hands still pressed together and muttered another Buddhist chant, which was tantamount to an acknowledgment.
Tang Zisu felt she had learned something new, but at that moment she was somewhat embarrassed; her clothes were riddled with holes from the Bone Demon's blood acid, resembling a starry sky. Horse Abdomen hurriedly took off his own clothes and tossed them to Tang Zisu, but halfway there they were intercepted by Kong Xuan, who threw them back to Horse Abdomen and said calmly, "We have our own; there's no need to trouble yourself."
Horse Abdomen caught the clothes but did not put them on; he simply stared at Kong Xuan. In fact, Kong Xuan's clothes were not much better than Tang Zisu's, yet he calmly took them off and draped them over her.
Tang Zisu was particularly displeased. "What difference does it make whether you wear it or not? Look at this shabby quality; it's sheer fabric! Aren't you afraid of getting arthritis up on Snowy Mountain?"
Ksitigarbha's facial muscles seemed to twitch slightly. He raised his hand to perform a spell, and in an instant, the world was illuminated by Buddhist light. Various colored lotus flowers appeared to bloom among the clouds, and a fragrant aroma wafted through the air along with celestial chants. The originally cracked patterns of the snow mountain gradually came together again, and the collapsed icy peaks restored themselves. At this moment, the world fell into silence.
Tang Zisu felt warmth spreading through her bones, and her body became lighter. She could visibly see her clothes instantly returning to their original state, not a single hole remaining. Ksitigarbha nodded at her with a gentle smile as a seven-colored rainbow appeared above him, seemingly spanning across the entire snow mountain.
Lang Ye's wounds healed with new flesh growing over them, and his tattered clothes returned to their original form. He exclaimed, "Bodhisattva, what new skill is this? Teach me! From now on, if our clothes get torn at home, I won't need my wife to sew them; with a wave of my hand, they'll be good as new!"
Kong Xuan shot him an annoyed glance and said, "What a bear!"
At this moment, Tang Zisu felt a sense of familiarity with Ksitigarbha. She took a couple of steps forward and said, "Hello."
Ksitigarbha lowered his head with a smile and returned the greeting. Kong Xuan stepped forward and pulled Tang Zisu behind him, saying, "Tang Zisu, you don't need to pay attention to this monk; you have nothing to do with him."
Ksitigarbha said, "How could that be? Tang Zisu, come here; I have a few words I want to share with you."
Tang Zisu pushed Kong Xuan aside and walked up to Ksitigarbha, casually casting a concealment barrier. Kong Xuan reached out but was blocked by his wife outside the barrier. Turning around, he saw that their son was already hugging Horse Abdomen. The two were laughing and chatting so much that even when Kong Xuan called out to Kong Yu, he couldn't be heard. Kong Xuan was furious!
Kong Xuan was angry, so he could only vent his frustration on his good friend Lang Ye.
Under Ksitigarbha's spell, Lang Ye's wounds had already healed with new flesh. He looked at Kong Xuan's expression and laughed smugly, saying, "What are you looking at me for? I didn't steal your wife or child. If you have the ability, go get them back yourself!"
Kong Xuan kicked Lang Ye in the rear and then said contentedly, "It's been a while since I kicked someone; it still feels great."
"Hey, what do you take me for? Let go, let go!"
The mountains and rivers were peaceful at this moment. Tang Zisu walked out of the barrier holding Kong Yu's hand and approached Kong Xuan. She placed both her and her son's hands into his and said, "Dear, let's go home!"
Is this how the story ends? The bad guys are dead, and the good ones are alive; it should be a happy ending, right? No, no, no; let's take it one step at a time.
The family of three held hands as they flew down Snow Peak. Ksitigarbha and Horse Abdomen stood at the summit for quite some time.
The monk said, "Vine Lily, stop looking; I have promised Tang Zisu that I will guide you well in your cultivation from now on. In this world filled with troubles—heaven and hell—I will often take form to save sentient beings and help them escape from disaster."
Horse Abdomen nodded. His face flushed as he stammered for a long time before asking, "Bodhisattva, what exactly is your relationship with Tang Zisu?"
Ksitigarbha smiled, extending his hand as if to grasp something from the void. A clam appeared in his palm, which he pried open to reveal a pearl. He then said to Horse Abdomen, "The pearl comes from the clam, but it is not the clam. The clam produces the pearl, but it is not the pearl. The relationship between me and Tang Zisu is probably like this. But Tang Zisu is Tang Zisu; she is not anyone else. In Kong Xuan's heart, she is unique, and you should understand this."
Horse Abdomen asked again, "What did you say to Tang Zisu?"
Ksitigarbha smiled while holding a flower, "It cannot be spoken of." He then floated into the vast Cloud Sea, and Horse Abdomen hurriedly followed him into the clouds, traveling together to help all beings.
On the way, Kong Yu asked Tang Zisu, "Mother, where are we going?"
Tang Zisu exchanged a smile with Kong Xuan and replied, "Of course, we are going home."
"Peacock Mountain? Why isn't Uncle Ma Fu coming with us?"
Kong Xuan glanced at Tang Zisu, wanting to hear her explanation.
Tang Zisu gently stroked Kong Yu's hair and said, "Yu'er, Uncle Ma Fu was seriously injured before. With his cultivation level, he shouldn't have forced himself into human form. After being injured, it became even more difficult for him. However, he endured for several years to take care of us. He can no longer hold on. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has enlightened him and is willing to accept him as a disciple to relieve his suffering. Can you still hold onto Uncle Ma Fu?"
Kong Yu nodded understandingly but was still reluctant. "Mother, Uncle Ma Fu said he wants me to take care of him for a lifetime. I haven't properly honored him yet."
Kong Xuan squatted down and looked into Kong Yu's eyes. "Yu'er, Uncle Ma Fu will come to see you often. When you grow up, you will also visit him. Throughout our lives, we will meet and part with many people. Most will walk with you for a while and then drift apart; only a few can accompany you for a lifetime—like your parents and your loved ones."
As Kong Xuan mentioned loved ones, his gaze turned to Tang Zisu, filled with tender affection that seemed to weave sweet threads of sugar. Tang Zisu tightened her grip on his hand; this time she truly held on and would not let go.
Peacock Mountain remained as beautiful as ever.
The Shrine had fallen into disrepair; it seemed people had forgotten the once-devout offerings made to Ksitigarbha. Their ordinary lives—births, aging, illnesses, deaths, joys, and sorrows—had overshadowed the once-revered Divine Maiden priestess who had become merely a legend. Only the Osmanthus Tree continued to thrive, quietly recounting its past glory under the tranquil night sky with the gentle breeze and bright moon.
After passing Peacock Lake and the Star Gazing Platform, they arrived at the Infinite Demon Realm.
The current demon realm was as beautiful as the human realm, or perhaps even more so. Here, there were no seasons; various beautiful and rare flowers bloomed in competition. A warm breeze blew through, carrying fragrant scents everywhere, making it more beautiful than a fairyland.
Small creatures often gathered curiously around Kong Yu. A snow-white little fox even burrowed into his arms, its tiny mouth sniffing at his face and even licking him with its tongue.
"Mei'er, come down." Upon hearing the call, the little fox immediately jumped down from Kong Yu and instead nestled into the arms of a silver-haired man.
"Po Jun!" Kong Xuan stepped forward and playfully punched Po Jun's shoulder.
Po Jun bent down to bow, but Kong Xuan quickly supported him. "We're brothers; there's no need for formality. You've really put in some effort these past few years; this place is truly wonderful."
After greeting Tang Zisu, Kong Yu also came over to pay his respects to Po Jun. He seemed to still be thinking about the little fox, gazing intently into its purple eyes.
Tang Zisu asked, "Who is this?"
"After Mei Xiao died, I managed to have her reincarnated as a fox. I want to raise her myself and then make her my bride."
Kong Xuan patted Po Jun's shoulder. "Well, it seems you have had your hands full these past few years."
They all walked to the entrance of the palace. Kong Xuan looked up and saw the white jade plaque inscribed with "Colorful and Resplendent, Echoing in All Directions," feeling a bit excited.
Tang Zisu said, "These eight characters are perfect for you two. From now on, you should enjoy life here; it's so beautiful that I don't even want to move anymore. It looks like I'll have to follow wherever you go."
Kong Xuan pinched her waist playfully. "You don't have any birds; how can you follow?"
Wow, this—has been experienced before!
Stepping through the palace gates, one walks through the vermilion doors and along the corridors filled with flowers and green trees. The Peacock King's palace is adorned with intricately carved five-colored spirit birds, the Azure Feathered Peacock, everywhere, making it particularly luxurious.
Po Jun said, "Ming Wang, do you think this place could be lived in?"
Kong Xuan laughed heartily, "Of course it can! You’ve made our demon palace so luxurious. What will the Heavenly Emperor think? What if he gets jealous?"
Po Jun laughed as well, "At worst, we’ll just have to play another round of Mahjong with him!"
Everyone burst into laughter. Days without war will always be this beautiful in the future.
In the evening, with a warm breeze blowing, Tang Zisu reclined on the Sandalwood Inlaid with Jade Beauty Couch, resting her chin on her hand and lost in thought.
Kong Xuan pulled aside the pearl curtain and was stunned by the sight of this beautiful woman in a spring slumber.
Long separation felt sweeter than a new marriage, especially after nearly facing life and death; such a reunion must ignite a passionate fire!
Without a word wasted, the two long-desired bodies tightly entwined together.
At the critical moment, Kong Xuan asked, "What did you say to Ksitigarbha?"
Tang Zisu shook her head while sobbing, "I cannot say, I cannot say."
Kong Xuan increased his pace and intensity. As Tang Zisu cried out for mercy, Kong Xuan asked again, "What did he say to you?"
"He said, he said that if I want to go back, he can send me back."
Upon hearing this, Kong Xuan's eyes turned red; he nearly crushed the person beneath him. It was only Tang Zisu's words, "I will never go back," that calmed the furious bird. In the next moment, he was already preparing to sharpen his knife to deal with Ksitigarbha, that old bald donkey.
As dawn approached, the entangled couple finally separated. Although Tang Zisu felt completely drained of strength, she still mustered the energy to say, "Ksitigarbha said it doesn't matter if I don't go back; the other me is still alive and well over there, as if we live in two parallel spaces. There is still a you and me there; we are destined to have an unbreakable bond. Eventually, we will meet, know each other, love each other, and stay together."
Kong Xuan kissed her fingertips, his stubble tickling her skin. He asked, "Really? So I’m still a peacock?"
"Do you want to know? He gave me this; let’s take a look!" With that, Tang Zisu pulled out a bead resembling an eye from the clothes on the ground and showed it to Kong Xuan.
"The Reincarnation Eye? He actually gave you this? Does he want you to leave me and go back?" Kong Xuan's feathers immediately bristled.
Tang Zisu quickly smoothed his ruffled feathers. "He just meant well and wanted me to take a look. Guess what? What were you like in my time? I definitely don't want you if you're still this bad-tempered."
Kong Xuan haughtily snorted, "Just show me how it activates."
Tang Zisu smiled helplessly and began to chant a spell...
After a flash of golden light, a bustling street filled with concrete buildings appeared, along with a handsome boy wearing sneakers, light brown cropped pants, and a white T-shirt.
Kong Xuan looked at the woman in his arms and then at the boy in the Reincarnation Eye. He asked, "That’s not me, right?"
Tang Zisu replied, "Of course not; it's me, Tang Zisu—no doubt about it—a big man with a bird."
Just then, someone called from the Reincarnation Eye: "Tang Zisu, Professor Lu wants to see you; he has something for you."
The handsome man in "Reincarnation Eye," Tang Zisu, responded and then entered a building.
After knocking on the door of an office, his mentor, Professor Lu, pulled him to stand in front of a woman who was reading a bound book. Professor Lu said to her, "Professor Kong, this is my best student, Tang Zisu. He has quite a bit of knowledge about the culture of the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties, so I’ll have him assist you temporarily with running errands and organizing materials."
The woman looked up, her cold gaze fixed on the handsome Tang Zisu. She raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you know Small Seal Script? Can you read incantations?"
Both Tang Zisu from "Reincarnation Eye" and the Tang Zisu outside of it were taken aback, as the woman was none other than Kong Xuan!
Tang Zisu noticed the fluctuating expression on Kong Xuan's face and finally understood the profound look Ksitigarbha had when giving her the Reincarnation Eye. However, she was too captivated by what was happening in the Reincarnation Eye to pay attention to him. Was Kong Xuan just a woman or a professor much older than him? Could they really work together?
The handsome Tang Zisu seemed startled by the young and beautiful professor. He quickly nodded, "I know a little. Hello, Professor. My name is Tang Zisu—Tang from the Tang Dynasty, Zi from Confucius, Su from awakening."
The beautiful woman looked at him for a moment before extending her hand. "Kong Xuan—Kong from Confucius, Xuan with the character for jade."
Tang Zisu hurriedly shook her hand. "Professor, have we met somewhere? You look familiar."
Kong Xuan coldly withdrew her hand. "Young man, your pickup lines are outdated. However, I also feel like I’ve seen you before..."
It turned out that all their fates began thousands of years ago.
Perhaps traveling back thousands of years was meant for them to meet earlier and lay the groundwork for every future reincarnation. In this life, I am female and you are male; in the next life, I will be male and you will be female. The so-called gender swap is merely to make it easier for you to love me and enjoy pleasurable moments together!
