"Oh?" Ye Xiaohan narrowed her eyes and said, "You see, we each express our opinions, and then we can summarize everything together later."
Li Yi nodded and replied, "The products we originally sold in our shop were indeed unique. But precisely because of this, as soon as our goods appear, everyone knows they are ours; there's no way to hide it."
He looked at Liu Yang and continued, "The reason we had to close Peach Blossom Studio is that the people in town no longer trusted our products. If we continue to sell the same things, it will be obvious to everyone."
Ye Xiaohan chimed in, "At that point, if we establish a cooperative system, it will be exposed. Even if Uncle Li is the one out front, everyone will know that we are the ones supplying the goods behind the scenes. Isn't that just like what happened to Peach Blossom Studio?"
"This..." Liu Yang felt frustrated and said gloomily, "I didn't think this through. I was only focused on reopening and making the business prosperous, wanting those people to be both jealous and helpless against us, but I completely forgot about this issue."
His candid admission surprised Ye Xiaohan. Given Liu Yang's original personality, he would have stubbornly insisted on his viewpoint even if he knew he was wrong deep down.
After all that had happened, Liu Yang had grown a lot.
Ye Xiaohan smiled and said, "No matter how strong a person's power is, it is still limited. That's why everyone needs to unite; only by working together can we complement each other's weaknesses and shortcomings."
Liu Yang nodded thoughtfully.
Seeing that he was absorbing her words, Ye Xiaohan felt quite satisfied. Being young and vigorous is a good thing; it brings energy and vitality. If he remains humble and strives for self-improvement, that would be even better.
Having resolved matters with Liu Yang, she turned to Li Yi and said, "Please continue."
"Alright," Li Yi continued. "In my opinion, food-related businesses are the most stable. Everyone needs to eat three meals a day; regardless of who they are, this business may be tedious and tiring. However, if done well, the profits can be substantial."
Ye Xiaohan responded joyfully, "Exactly! My thoughts align with Uncle Li's."
She explained to everyone: "I've already discussed why we can't continue with skincare products earlier, so I won't repeat myself. Now let me explain why I want to choose the food industry."
"First of all, just like you said, food service is a stable venture. Unless there’s a disaster year, everyone needs to eat. As long as our dishes are delicious, we won’t have to worry about customers."
Ye Xiaohan paused, and several pairs of bright eyes below her were fixed on her.
"What about the second one?" Liu Yang propped his chin up, asking with interest.
Although they could no longer replicate the success of Peach Blossom Studio, he thought it would still be interesting to make money through other businesses.
Liu Qi blinked her eyes, mimicking Liu Yang's posture, resting her short arms on her chin, staring intently at Ye Xiaohan, though she didn’t quite understand what she was hearing.
"Well, the second one," Ye Xiaohan sighed, "is still my fault. Those people have set their sights on me. If I open something related or similar, they'll definitely guess it, and that will bring trouble again."
So she could only open a shop completely unrelated to Peach Blossom Studio, doing business that had nothing to do with skincare products to throw them off the scent.
It was all because she had been too high-profile before, attracting unwanted attention.
Not wanting her to continue blaming herself, knowing that comforting her wouldn’t help, Liu Yang quickly changed the subject.
"I agree; selling food sounds good. If we can't sell it, we can feed Qi!" Liu Yang said with a mischievous smile as he teased Qi's chin. "Right, little pig Qi?"
Liu Qi giggled and dodged as Liu Yang tickled her, nodding in agreement: "Second Brother is right! If it doesn't sell, I'll help eat it all! A lot!"
"Pfft." Ye Xiaohan laughed at the antics of the two: "If you eat everything, won't we have no business left? We'll have to close down!"
Upon hearing this, Liu Qi was alarmed: "Oh no! What should we do? Then I won't eat anymore; I'll save it to sell to customers!"
"But," Ye Xiaohan pretended to be troubled, "the ones you eat are the ones customers don't want and can't sell anyway?"
"Then... then..." Liu Qi was flustered and turned in circles, tilting her head without coming up with a good solution. She simply pounced over and hugged Ye Xiaohan's leg: "I can't think of anything! Sister-in-law, help me come up with a good plan!"
Laughter filled the room as the shy girl buried her face in Ye Xiaohan's embrace, refusing to come out.
Ye Xiaohan allowed her to hold on and continued, "Since we've decided to go into the food business, here's what I'm thinking: we still have some savings, so we could open a restaurant. Instead of starting with a small eatery, why not aim a bit higher and go straight for a larger establishment? This way, we won't have to switch locations later when our business expands."
Choosing the right venue is no easy task; factors like money, location, and sellers are all uncertain variables. If we can resolve everything at once, it would be a great choice.
Li Yi nodded in agreement. "Miss Ye has thought this through; I completely concur. However, we still lack sufficient manpower. Every person in the restaurant—servers, cooks—plays a crucial role. The difference between good and bad service can significantly impact the business."
True to his experience, Li Yi had a strong sense of service! Ye Xiaohan felt fortunate to have him on board; his expertise would help them avoid many pitfalls along the way.
"You’re right; we can't be careless with the service staff. I’d like you to personally oversee this. We can put up a notice and select suitable candidates from those who apply."
If they could find a renowned chef, that would be ideal, but they couldn't afford such luxury at this stage. As long as they could successfully open the restaurant, they could gradually improve later.
Li Yi readily agreed; he would do his best to repay Ye Xiaohan's life-saving kindness.
With the main points settled, there were still many details to work out, which couldn't be resolved immediately. Ye Xiaohan wasn't in a hurry. She remembered well that haste makes waste and that sharpening the axe doesn’t hinder the work of chopping wood.
Opening a restaurant required careful planning. Even with a general direction in mind, she dared not act rashly. After all, Liu Yuan was lurking nearby; if he caught wind of their plans, it could lead to trouble.
This matter had to be kept under wraps; aside from their own group, no one else could know for peace of mind.
Prepared and vigilant, Ye Xiaohan motivated herself and began secretly making preparations.
First was the issue of sourcing supplies. For the restaurant to thrive, they needed a stable supply chain. Moreover, these supplies had to be fresh and authentic without any adulteration.
Even though this was ancient times and pesticides couldn’t compare to modern ones—they grew naturally—the issue of adulteration was just as prevalent as today.
In good products, there are always some inferior ones mixed in. Clearly, when weighed, it was a pound, but when taken home, it turned into just nine ounces. Such things happen all the time.
Indeed, no matter the era, unscrupulous merchants remain unscrupulous!
Ye Xiaohan strolled around as if leisurely, accompanied by Liu Qi and Round. In just a short while, she had discreetly gathered information about the prices and quality of various vegetables at the major markets.
She figured out where to purchase which vegetables to save costs while ensuring they were fresh and delicious.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Liu Yuan's expression darkened further as he listened to the report from the Shadow Guard.
"I told you to keep an eye on her for any unusual activity, yet all you report is trivial nonsense about where she buys groceries and eats! Am I raising you just to be useless?"
Liu Yuan was furious and threw the book in his hand at the Shadow Guard.
The Shadow Guard dared not dodge and could only endure the blow, reporting back, "Young Master, please do not be angry. It is indeed my incompetence! However, Ye Xiaohan has really done nothing lately; she has just been wandering around, eating, drinking, and having fun."
He watched from the side but could only stand by helplessly. If he returned with complaints, he would still be scolded. Being a Shadow Guard was truly not easy.
Unaware of the Shadow Guard's grievances, Liu Yuan was still furious that he dared to retort: "So it's still my fault for assigning you such trivial tasks?"
Realizing he was in trouble, the Shadow Guard quickly apologized: "I acknowledge my mistake; please punish me, Young Master!"
