"I understand, Mother Empress," replied the Shangyang Princess. She had made a grave mistake due to her momentary lapse in judgment and had been reflecting on it ever since, fearful of being used again.
"That's good to hear," the Queen continued. "In the future, if you encounter situations where you cannot make a decision on your own, remember to inform your royal brother and me. We will help you."
The Shangyang Princess reached out and hugged the Queen, playfully saying, "Thank you, Mother Empress. You truly care for me. Mother Empress, when do you think I should confront Liu Susu about what happened?"
"About that," the Queen paused for a moment. "Prince, let this matter rest for now. Do not pursue it any further."
The Queen ultimately advised the Shangyang Princess not to act just yet.
"Why not?" The Shangyang Princess could not accept this. She sat up from the Queen's embrace and exclaimed, "Liu Susu has gone too far! If we hadn't arrived in time, who knows how badly Boss Ye would have suffered at her hands!"
Due to her status, Ye Xiaohan could not confront Liu Susu directly to seek justice. Surely as a princess, she could do something about it? She wanted to avenge Ye Xiaohan and also reclaim what Liu Susu had deceitfully taken from her.
The Queen calmed the agitated Shangyang Princess. "I understand your feelings; no one is angrier than I am about this injustice done to you. If the Queen were to intervene directly, she could certainly deal a heavy blow to Liu Susu. However, doing so would irreparably damage relations with the Liu Family. They cherished their troublesome daughter dearly and would not remain silent; it would escalate beyond personal grievances into a matter that could affect the entire court.
Once turmoil erupted within the court, stability would be hard to maintain.
“Prince, do you really want to act out of impulse now and risk causing chaos later?” The Queen's words struck at the heart of the matter.
These profound truths were something the Shangyang Princess had never encountered before, nor had she ever considered them. She had lived a life free from worries, unaware of the intricate web of interests and entanglements that lay beneath.
