At that moment, two figures swiftly slipped into the villa, one following closely behind the other.
They avoided the bodyguards and positioned themselves in the shadow of the window railing.
As soon as they stood still, a woman's high-pitched moan suddenly reached their ears. The two quickly turned their gaze toward the interior, where the scene of rhythmic movement unfolded before their eyes.
A warm, dry hand immediately covered Yan Yan's eyes, plunging her vision into darkness. The intertwining of White Flower faded from view, while a wave of warm breath suddenly brushed against her sensitive ear. The man's husky voice whispered softly:
"Cover your ears."
His deep voice felt particularly low in the darkness. With each parting and closing of his sensual lips, the heat mingled with his words and entered her ear canal, instantly sending shivers down her spine.
A familiar wave of nausea surged within her.
The bodyguards were just outside; any sudden movement would give them away.
She pressed her tongue firmly against her lower jaw, her tightly pursed lips pale.
In a frantic attempt, she reached out to push away the person who was too close for comfort. Unfortunately, in her panic and underestimating his height, her palm, which should have rested against his chest, instead encountered a solid wall of abdominal muscle.
The man, taken aback by the unexpected closeness, inhaled sharply as his firm abdomen tightened beneath her hand.
An awkward tension arose.
"What are you doing?!"
His voice, seemingly suppressing some emotion, was even huskier than before, carrying a hint of danger mixed with a rebellious tone.
"There's movement—!"
At that moment, the three bodyguards outside quickly closed in.
Yan Yan's heart sank. Before she could react, a hand swiftly wrapped around her waist, and with a powerful shove, she was pushed against the wall, a warm and lean body pressing against hers. At the same time, her feet were lifted, and she was pulled into a narrow gap. Just as the searchlight was about to sweep past, a long arm quickly yanked the curtain that was billowing outside, covering their exposed bodies.
The light flashed—
The two people trapped in the wall crevice froze, not daring to move.
Under the glaring light, the bodyguard in black could only see the dark curtain fluttering in the wind.
"Where's the commotion? You're too sensitive. Let's go, it's time to switch shifts. The boss is making quite a stir tonight; you might have misheard."
"Maybe. But the boss is really loud tonight—when are we going to have some fun too? Listening to this day and night is getting unbearable. Hiss—what are you touching!"
"You can't take it? Come on, let me help you relax."
"Get lost! Once this mission is over, I'm going to find a beautiful woman and enjoy myself. Let's go, time to switch shifts—"
...
The two bodies pressed tightly together without any gaps. The man's solid chest felt even broader and stronger than it looked, and his arm wrapped around her waist held her firmly in his embrace.
The girl struggled to stand on her tiptoes just to rest her chin on his much taller shoulder.
Qin Huai sensed her effort and lifted her slightly with his strong arm, hoping to make it easier for her.
But unfortunately—
The closer contact made it even harder for Yan Yan to breathe, and her urge to vomit intensified.
With nowhere to place her arms, she could only clutch the fabric at his waist, the two of them so close that they could clearly feel each other's heartbeat.
Thus, Qin Huai struggled to hold his breath, trying to calm his mind and slow his racing heart.
The girl's frail body was even thinner than it appeared, lacking any layer of fat, with protruding bones causing a sharp pain in his heart. He sighed inwardly, thinking that she was far too thin and he needed to take good care of her.
As the distant sounds gradually faded into silence, Yan Yan's suppressed urge to vomit became unbearable. She turned her head and dry-heaved against Qin Huai's shoulder, the sound barely audible. If not for the tremors that accompanied it, there would have been no sign of movement at all.
Realizing something was wrong with the girl in his arms, he had initially wanted to savor the warmth and softness of her presence. But thinking she might not want him to hold her any longer, he reluctantly released her, allowing her to slide out of his embrace.
Her soft body slid down against the wall, and everything around her began to spin. The ringing in her ears was incessant, and memories from both past and present tangled chaotically in her mind. A sharp pain suddenly shot through her head.
“Mmm—”
She bit down hard on her jaw, the last shred of rationality telling her that she must not make a sound.
A metallic taste filled her mouth in an instant.
Her tongue felt numb and heavy.
Qin Huai looked on in panic as the girl who had seemed perfectly fine just moments ago suddenly collapsed. Her face turned pale with a hint of purple, making her bright red eyes appear even more terrifying.
Cold sweat dripped from his forehead onto his palm, hot and burning deep down inside him.
“Girl, what’s wrong? Yan Yan, Yan Yan!”
The anxious calls, even when suppressed to a low tone, still managed to carry through.
The bodyguards on shift rushed over upon hearing the commotion.
Damn it—!
He swiftly picked up the seemingly unconscious girl and agilely slipped into an empty room next door. To his surprise, Ji Yang had turned even the simplest of rooms into something so lavishly decorated!
As soon as he entered, he was greeted by a large round bed. The moment the spotlight shone down, he immediately laid the girl down on the bed, feeling the undulating surface beneath him, causing a wave of embarrassment to wash over him.
Quickly shaking off the awkwardness, he listened intently to the sounds outside before releasing the trembling girl from his embrace.
Leaning closer to her, he tried to catch her barely audible murmurs.
“Sister... Sister, Ji Yang—you dare!”
“Big sister... Ayu, I’m sorry, I—let go of me, go away, ah, go away, don’t touch me...”
The fragmented whispers were broken and suppressed; only by getting close to her lips could he vaguely make out a few words.
Yet those few words brought an instant realization.
A chill ran through his Peach Blossom Eyes.
He had found it strange before.
Every time he got close, the girl seemed to have a strong physiological reaction.
He had always thought it was because she disliked him, until he saw the surveillance footage. No matter if it was the blonde youth Lin Shu or Ji Lin, she would step back the moment either of them approached. At that moment, he felt something was wrong with her.
The earlier test had only confirmed his suspicions.
He never expected her reaction to be so intense; it completely caught him off guard.
A sudden wave of heartache and regret consumed his cold demeanor.
"Yan Yan, Yan Yan—"
His hand brushed against her icy face as he softly called out, surprising even himself.
Grabbing her thin wrist that was flailing about, he growled:
"Awake a little, I am Qin Huai, not a figment of your imagination."
"Don't... don't, umm—no talking, no sound..."
His sharp eyes caught a glimpse of red seeping from her pale lips, and his heart sank. He immediately grasped her delicate chin and pried her mouth open. Indeed, her mouth was a bloody mess.
Heartbroken, he thought of nothing but how to protect her. Forget the bodyguards and Ji Yang; right now, all that mattered was ensuring she was safe and unharmed. (To be continued.)
