“Qin Yao…”
The mocking tone was unusually sharp when Qin Huai called out the name Crimson Dusk. Crimson Dusk suddenly looked up, disbelief in his eyes as he gazed at the Black-Masked Thief before him. His tightly furrowed brows were filled with hostility, and when he caught sight of the only exposed feature that resembled Qin Weihong, his heart skipped a beat.
It seemed the other party sensed his Deep Down thoughts. With a malicious grin, he pulled down his mask, revealing a face that was about seventy percent similar to Qin Weihong, but younger.
This face seemed to overlap with a boy from a photo he had inadvertently seen in the study.
When the eerily familiar Beauty appeared before Crimson Dusk, all he felt was shock, quickly followed by an overwhelming rage that threatened to drown his reason. He roared, “Bastard—it's you!”
Upon hearing this, Qin Huai's eyes sparkled with deeper mockery. “Bastard, huh?” He twirled the dagger in his hand, and the icy smile that curled at his lips startled the nearby Minion. This underling was asking for trouble; he didn’t care, but if the boss was angry, he had to intervene!
“Minion, clean up your mouth…”
The words that Knife wanted to continue were swallowed back at the slight gesture from the Man in Black Outfit.
“Qin Yao, didn’t Lou Yan tell you that the term ‘bastard’ can only be applied to someone…” Qin Huai’s tone was half-smiling yet filled with an inexplicable fear for Crimson Dusk. He enunciated each word of the latter part of his sentence deliberately: “It can only be you.”
A cruel smile crept across Qin Huai’s face as he watched Qin Yao descend into madness. With a slow and deliberate tone, like a hunter sharpening his knife on his prey, he taunted, “After all, I doubt Lou Yan, who rose to power through dubious means, would let you know how she did it back then.”
“Shut up! You shut your mouth! Ah, go die—”
As Qin Yao’s vision turned red with rage upon seeing those eyes that resembled his revered father’s, long-buried questions began to unravel while plunging him into another deadlock.
No, it can’t be.
The wretched figure before him was nothing but a facade; his mother was not that kind of person!
Though he thought this in his heart, the memories flooding his mind plunged him into despair.
Qin Residence.
"Look, this is the old master's illegitimate son."
"Shh... What illegitimate son? If Madam hears you, you'll be in trouble..."
"Sigh, I feel sorry for Young Master Qin Huai. Now he's missing, and his position as heir is precarious. The stepmother at home doesn't seem like a good person either."
"You talk too much; just stop—" The voice abruptly halted as he turned to see a certain figure, and then he anxiously shouted, "Ah, Young Master Qin Yao—"
Since then, he had never seen those two again.
Including later on, there were others in the Qin Residence who liked to hide in corners and whisper among themselves.
He knew it was his mother who had done this.
In the banquet hall.
"Tsk tsk... Madam Qin nowadays has such a worldly air about her. If she isn't from the Lou Family, how did she end up like this?"
A noble lady scoffed at her thoughts, the swaying wine glass causing the ginger-colored liquid to splash against the walls of the cup, producing a tinkling sound that drew the attention of the boy hiding beneath the table.
"Haha, what’s wrong with you, Sister Lou? Aren't you just a lowly creature? How could you dare to dream of climbing into the bed of the head of the Qin Family? But... you do have some skills; you've managed to succeed, and now you're bringing along your illegitimate child. Oh no, from now on, it’s Young Master Qin... successfully entering the Qin Family with Young Master Qin."
Another elegantly dressed lady with an imposing presence adjusted her drooping bun and laughed mockingly. Her words reached Qin Yao's ears clearly from beneath the table.
Back then, he was too young to understand that the two ladies were not speaking kindly. Later, for reasons he didn’t want to delve into, perhaps he had already sensed the painful truths hidden behind their words...
He just wanted to escape.
Hoping to bury it deep in his mind.
Now, he lay on the ground like a dog, looking up at the "Young Master Qin" who gazed down at him with a cold and disdainful expression.
Thinking of an old photograph on his father's communication device in his study, he stiffly tugged at the corners of his mouth and spat out a sarcastic remark, " Qin Huai, how noble do you think you are? If your mother hadn’t voluntarily stepped back back then, would my mother have succeeded? Haha... don’t think your mother is innocent and pure; she has someone in her heart!"
Qin Yao crazily shouted out a long-buried secret, laughing wildly with delight. "She never loved Qin Weihong; she liked our good uncle, Qin Weiyang! Hahaha—who knows, maybe the blood running through your veins... oh well, no matter what, we’re all from the Qin Family; there’s no difference! Hahaha—ugh—!"
His mouth was suddenly clamped shut, forcing him to suppress his triumphant laughter. His eyes filled with hatred locked onto Qin Huai's dark and watery gaze. The provocation in his eyes did not stir even a hint of reaction from the man towering over him.
Qin Huai's crimson lips curled into a cruel arc as he said, "Qin Yao, don’t waste your time pondering half-understood matters in that hollow brain of yours. Tsk... since you’re so eager to know the truth, as your brother, I’ll tell you how it is, hmm?" The mocking tone made the word "brother" sound particularly ominous. "Hasn’t Lou Yan ever told you that her plan to borrow seed from Qin Weihong failed and that she ended up targeting Qin Weiyang?"
The shocking news struck Qin Yao like thunder. His eyes widened in terror. "No... impossible! No... you’re lying! I don’t believe it—"
"I won't... It's not like that. I am my father's son; it can't be true... My mother wouldn't lie to me—"
As he watched Qin Yao descend into madness, Qin Huai withdrew his foot, his indifferent gaze now resembling that of a stranger.
The most terrifying thing in the world is when you hate someone, or love someone deeply, yet that person treats you as if you are completely irrelevant. Where should all that intense emotion go?
It couldn't be more humiliating.
"In the Reincarnation beginner village, from now on, do not let him appear anywhere outside of the beginner village."
At the moment he turned to leave, he glanced back and said lightly, "Also, there’s one more thing you should know: Sunset Red is my uncle."
There was no need for further explanation; Qin Yao would understand.
"Ah—ahhh!"
The frantic cries of Qin Yao echoed behind him, while Qin Huai lowered his eyes, concealing all the turbulent emotions within, leaving only the silence after Thousand Sails had passed.
When he raised his gaze again, his narrow peach blossom eyes suddenly brightened, and a sense of joy unexpectedly filled his empty heart.
This was simply because a slender figure stood quietly before him, looking at him with a calm demeanor.
