"I don't know!" Xiu'er, with her head lowered, failed to notice the glint in Hu Linglong's eyes. She merely thought that being sent away meant going to a farm or something similar. Regardless, she still carried Wei Scholar's child in her womb; even if Hu Linglong hated her, she wouldn't let her die.
"You really are pitifully foolish," Qing Luan remarked as she saw Xiu'er still unaware of her predicament. She pointed at Wei Scholar and said, "Linglong Sister wants him to leave the Hu Family—not just leave but to divorce. After that, there will be no connection between them. Since they have no ties anymore, what leverage do you think you have to threaten him? Do you think Linglong will send you somewhere nice like a farm? You're thinking too highly of yourself; you're going to a brothel, understand?" The last two words were spat out through gritted teeth.
They thought they had the Hu Family in their grasp and could possess everything about it, yet they had no idea how easily and painfully things could change.
"Divorce?" Wei Scholar was stunned and shouted, "I won't divorce! I won't divorce..."
"Wrong. It’s not about whether you want to or not; it's about what I want," Linglong interrupted him, her calm demeanor completely suppressing Wei Scholar's panic. "Rui'er will take the surname Hu from now on."
"No! Rui'er is a Wei! He is my son!" At this point, Wei Scholar truly panicked, fear creeping into his heart.
