Hearing her complaints, Xuanyuan Rui's lips curled into a faint smile, his gentle gaze fixed on her without uttering a word.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Qing Luan felt uneasy under his constant gaze and awkwardly asked.
"Hehe, I haven't seen you in days. I've missed you," Xuanyuan Rui said, his warm words spilling out naturally as he found her expression amusing.
He said nothing about the men in black; it was as if the matter had nothing to do with her, and neither of them brought it up. He attributed the incident to the black-clad men wanting to kill him, lying in ambush in the alley to take his life, only to end up being killed by him... Ultimately, this matter reached the Emperor's ears.
His goal was to alarm the Emperor; if this continued to be investigated, those shadowy figures would think twice before acting recklessly.
"I'm not familiar with you, so stop overthinking," Qing Luan said, her face reddening from his gentle teasing. She shook her head uncomfortably.

"It was because of you..." Xuanyuan Rui whispered softly as he held her close after understanding what she meant.
