The competition between Ruyi Tower and Fu Jun had come to an end. Although it had been quite a spectacle, Fu Jun was dead, and the outcome left a bittersweet taste. No one seemed to care that there were still repercussions from the event. Qing Luan took over the shop that Fu Jun had mortgaged and realized that if it weren't for her special status, she might never have known that it belonged to the Huang Family. This made her more attentive to everything related to them.
Winning something from the Huang Family brought Qing Luan joy, but there was something else that delighted her even more: Chen Qingyuan was often seen with Yun Nishang, frequently visiting high-status places. He had caught someone's eye and wanted to marry her as his legitimate wife, and Chen Qingyuan himself was pleased with this development. So he came to ask Qing Luan for her opinion.
Looking at the bashful figure before her, Qing Luan facepalmed in silence, feeling a wave of frustration wash over her. In her heart, she muttered, "Sister, I'm your younger sister, not your mother. Why are you discussing your marriage with me?" However, no one noticed this thought of hers; even Yun Nishang naturally believed that this matter should be decided by her, leaving Qing Luan utterly stunned.
"I say, Qing Luan, do you have any objections? Speak up so we can discuss this," Yun Nishang protested in dissatisfaction after seeing Qing Luan remain silent despite her excitement.
Discuss? I'm not your mother! What is there to discuss? Qing Luan found herself at a loss for words once again.
" Luan'er, do you dislike...," Azure Phoenix asked timidly upon noticing Qing Luan's silence. She felt anxious, fearing that Qing Luan might have different thoughts.
Seeing Azure Phoenix's nervousness, Qing Luan finally spoke up, though her tone was somewhat teasing: "Elder Sister, I am your sister. You should discuss your marriage with Mother. As long as you are happy, that's all that matters!"
"Pfft!" Yun Yiqing could no longer hold back her laughter and pointed at Yun Nishang and the others. "What do you take Qing Luan for? Shouldn't she be the one deciding your marriage as a younger sister?" Even if their parents were gone, it shouldn't fall on her shoulders!
Yun Yiqing's words brought a bitter smile to Qing Luan's face and made Yun Nishang and Chen Qingyuan exchange glances before they too burst into laughter.
"Hehe, this is... hehe, it's all my fault for being too excited and dragging Azure Phoenix here," Yun Nishang said with a flushed face, feeling embarrassed.
"Alright, let's not say anything more about it. Sister, let's go to Zhu Residence. Now that the Chen Family is no more, your marriage will be with the Zhu Family. You should return to discuss this with Mother and Uncle!" Finally getting to the point.
The group then moved from Ruyi Tower to Zhu Family. The Zhu Clan looked at their two daughters with tears of excitement in their eyes, trembling as they struggled to find words. Once they understood their intentions, smiles spread across their faces as they nodded eagerly. "As long as Azure Phoenix is happy, I have no objections! Don't worry about the dowry; I will ensure it is handled splendidly!"
Zhu Wujie saw his sister finally reveal a genuine smile of joy, and he felt happy as well, nodding in agreement, "When our family marries off a daughter, the dowry must be substantial and eye-catching, something to make others envious!"
"Uncle," Chen Qingyuan choked with emotion. After all, she was a Chen; being able to marry out of the Zhu Family was already a blessing. She never expected her uncle to say such things, leaving her at a loss for words—her biological father was so heartless, yet her uncle cared for her so deeply that it made her want to cry.
"If only Yang'er were here too!" Zhu Clan suddenly sighed, wiping away tears from the corners of their eyes, revealing a look of longing.
"Mother, Second Sister will come back; don't worry!" Qing Luan comforted her mother with her words, but inside she felt uncertain. She had sent many people and had the Merchant Alliance search far and wide for Chen Qingyang, yet there had been no leads or news, which made her anxious. She feared that something might have happened to Chen Qingyang.
As soon as she learned that Chen Qingyuan had run away from home, she immediately set people to search for her. However, they couldn't keep up with how quickly she had disappeared, which puzzled her.
Chen Qingyang was just a reclusive Young Lady; how could she have such speed—unless she had encountered some extraordinary circumstances.
"Mother, Yang'er is so clever; she must know how to protect herself. Don't be sad; we will definitely reunite!" The originally joyful Chen Qingyuan's smile faded upon hearing Zhu Clan's words. She spoke sorrowfully while longing to see her sister—they hadn't truly been together as a family in five years.
If it wasn't for Qing Luan leaving, it was Azure Duck who had gone away. Sighing, when would they ever be together without separation?
"Why feel sorrow on such a joyous occasion?" Zhu Wujie shot an annoyed glance at Zhu Clan and then smiled, saying, "You sisters are so wonderful; I believe Azure Duck will be just fine! Now we should discuss Azure Phoenix's marriage..."
With the topic shifted to happier matters, Zhu Clan also smiled, their tone much more cheerful. This was an event where Qing Luan felt she couldn't intervene; being younger meant she had no reason to meddle. She sat quietly aside, thinking about Chen Qingyang. Since Chen Qingyuan and Chen Qingyang were twins, they should have some sense of each other. If one was in trouble, the other would surely feel it. Therefore, Chen Qingyuan showed no unusual emotions, which indicated that Azure Duck was safe.
But if everything was fine, why couldn't they find her?
Could it be that she was not in their country but had gone elsewhere? As this thought crossed her mind, Qing Luan felt somewhat dazed. If that were the case, there would truly be no way to find her unless she returned on her own!
Using all the power of the Merchant Alliance, Qing Luan increasingly believed in her own speculation.
Chen Qingyuan's marriage was set for the eighth day of the second month. The family of the groom held a significant position in the court; although they were not as dominant as Prime Minister Huang, their connection with the Zhu Family made the Huang Family quite uneasy. The Chen Family was no longer around, and it was already commendable for them to take her as a legitimate wife; she hadn't expected such generosity, which genuinely caught her off guard.
"That's because they value your elder sister," the Zhu Clan chuckled at her words. "The more betrothal gifts they send, the more satisfied they are with your sister. They hold her in high regard, so once she marries into their family, she won't suffer any grievances." Thinking about how Azure Phoenix had come to this point, the Zhu Clan knew it was all thanks to Qing Luan. They reached out and held her hand seriously, saying, " Luan'er, your mother wants to sincerely thank you; otherwise, your elder sister wouldn't be where she is today!"
This sudden and solemn gratitude left Qing Luan momentarily stunned. Soon after, she smiled and shook her head, saying, "She is my elder sister; mother, this is what I should do!"
Although she was not satisfied with Chen Qingyuan's personality, at least she genuinely cared for her. This sister was still someone she recognized.
In her past life, what she lacked most was familial affection; therefore, in this life, she valued family ties above all else!
