I was finally led into a dark, damp room, where the floor was covered with two filthy straw mats. On one of them lay a woman, her clothes so tattered that they barely covered her sensitive areas. When I was pushed inside, she merely rolled her eyes a few times and let out a few muffled sounds from her throat before closing her eyes. If it weren't for her occasional convulsions, I would have almost thought she was dead. 0

A bowl of moldy rice made me vomit, and after throwing up, I forced myself to eat again. 0

Just yesterday, I was at work, enjoying the bright spring day; today, I found myself trapped in this place that devours people without leaving a trace! 0

Who brought me here? 0

Where is my husband, Qin Jian? 0

What will tomorrow be like? 0

I dared not close my eyes; as soon as I did, horrifying scenes flooded my mind. 0

I don't know how much time passed before the iron door swung open. Two figures entered and pounced on the woman on the other mat, tormenting her as they held her down. 0

"This one's good!" 0

"Go ahead and try! She's sick; she'll make you rot down there!" 0

"Really? I don't want to die from that!" 0

"If she weren't sick, she'd have been used up long ago! She has a hospital diagnosis in her bag—gonorrhea and hepatitis B. Damn it, she looks good on the outside, but what a waste!" 0

"Just give it a shot!" 0

Filthy hands roamed over my body, and all I could do was curl up. 0

One hand lunged toward my chest, and I raised my own to block it. 0

Fists and feet rained down on me: "You worthless bitch! You can't sell yourself, and your parts won't fetch any money either. And yet you have quite the attitude!" 0

Suddenly, the woman on the other mat crawled up like a ghost, naked and biting one of the men's legs. He let out a bear-like roar as she was thrown off him, and the two men rushed in to kick and beat her. 0

After more than ten minutes of gasping for breath, they finally stopped. 0

"Looks like she's done for!" one of them squatted down to check for her breath. 0

"Take her to the lab; let them see what parts are still usable." 0

The woman was dragged away. 0

I opened my eyes wide until dawn. 0
It was still the "office" of Brother Gun. 0
As the electric baton crackled against my waist, sensations of numbness, tingling, pressure, impact, spasms, pain, and difficulty breathing all hit me at once. 0
I struggled in agony as a phone held a video call right in front of my face. 0
My husband was on the other side, pleading hysterically, "Stop it! I'll give you three million!" 0
"Sis, you have to hold on! My husband and I are coming to save you!" 0
How could my brother Jiang Xiaohao be with my husband? Did my mother finally have a conscience? 0
My parents had always favored my brother since we were kids. 0
In elementary school, they made me, his older sister by a year and a half but shorter than him, carry his backpack. 0
In middle school, they provided him with all his pocket money while I had to scrape together my own by collecting herbs and picking up cicada shells. 0
In high school, I ranked in the top three of my class while he was at the bottom, yet my parents insisted I drop out to save money for his tuition. 0
In college, I tutored students, cleaned public classrooms, did laundry for classmates, and wholesale small goods at the train station to support myself through university without spending a dime from home. 0
My mother said: Everything in this family belongs to your brother! 0
When Qin Jian and I were discussing marriage, my parents demanded a dowry of 280,000 yuan; the extra 100,000 was for my brother's matchmaking expenses. 0
After we got married and returned home for a visit, our house was filled with guests. My brother's girlfriend demanded that we buy them a house; my parents immediately asked us to come up with 500,000 yuan. 0
"Sis, I know you really don't have any money left. How about this: you can put the new house in my name first!" With my parents' tacit approval, Xiaohao shamelessly made his request. 0
I wanted to explode in anger, but my husband calmed me down and agreed that we would transfer the house to him after our honeymoon. 0
Later on, because they were unwilling and unable to bear the monthly mortgage payments, this matter ultimately "fell through." 0
However, as our lives improved, my parents brought up the idea again of us giving 500,000 yuan to buy a house for my brother. For my sake, my husband paid this amount. 0
Yet my brother still looked down on us. 0
Previously, he complained that his brother-in-law was just a retired soldier with no future or prospects to offer him. 0
Later on, he resented that his brother-in-law married me and that my salary no longer went to support our parents or supplement him. 0
For my father's sixtieth birthday, we hosted over ten tables at a restaurant; the cigarettes and alcohol were provided by me and my husband. 0

"Get up!" The Guard kicked me off the Floor Mat. 0

I was dragged to a nearby town. Officially, this place didn't belong to the Zone, but various Frauds and Gangs had their eyes and armed forces planted here. 0

At the agreed spot, my husband's phone rang, but no one answered. 0

"As long as your man dares to play tricks on us, I'll throw you into the slums and let those miserable souls take turns with you. They won't care what illness you have!" The thin man sneered menacingly. 0

I hoped my husband would show up, yet I feared his arrival! 0

Then I saw my brother, Jiang Xiaohao! He emerged from a building, glancing around like a thief. 0

I opened my mouth in shock, almost calling out, but forced myself to hold back. 0

"Catch that pretty boy!" The scarred man noticed my expression. 0

Xiaohao saw me too, but he didn’t stop; instead, he hurried away dragging a suitcase behind him. 0

As they disappeared into the chaotic underbrush, gunfire erupted suddenly. 0

The thin man shouted to his remaining subordinates, "You go too! I don't care if he's dead or alive; I just want that suitcase!" 0

I felt like I was suffocating. 0

Perhaps it was a common occurrence; the townsfolk didn’t seem to take the gunfire seriously. Some merely paused to look for the source of the noise. 0

Two more people emerged from a small motel—one was a Bearded Man, and the other wore sunglasses, a mask, and a cap, hurrying toward us. 0

The thin man and his remaining two lackeys focused their attention on the sound of gunfire. 0

As the cap-wearing man passed by us, he suddenly struck. The thin man was hit in the back of his neck and collapsed. With another swift move, he kicked away one of my captors. The other man reached for his gun but was met with a kick to the stomach from the Bearded Man. 0

I was lifted by the Cap and shoved into the back seat of a Pickup. The Bearded Man quickly fished out the keys from the hemp pole and started the engine with a swift motion. 0

As we drove out of town, the Bearded Man suddenly slammed on the brakes. "You all move through the jungle toward the border!" The Cap said nothing, holding me tightly as he rolled down the embankment. 0

The Pickup sped away, kicking up dust like a whirlwind. I was pinned behind a large rock by the Cap, watching as two Pickups carrying the hemp pole and others chased after us. 0
