In the cave, Zhao Jun and Tie He lifted the person up. Yu Shu had bloodstains on his forehead and body, which had already dried, making him look terrifying.
"Hanno, quickly check on Brother Yu; he's about to lose consciousness," Zhao Jun shouted in panic, horrified by Yu Shu's condition.
Hanno stepped forward to take a look. Yu Shu was indeed in a dire state, hanging on by a thread. If Hanno and the others had arrived just five minutes later, he would have been dead.
"There's still a breath left," Hanno said as he channeled a surge of Spiritual Energy into Yu Shu to stabilize his heart pulse. "You two carry Yu Shu; we need to get down the mountain quickly."
"Aren't we supposed to call an ambulance first?" Zhao Jun asked foolishly.
Tie He reminded him, "Zhao Ge, there's no signal in the deep mountains; we can't make a call."
"Oh, right." Zhao Jun realized and stopped wasting time. He and Tie He lifted Yu Shu—one holding his legs and the other supporting his head—and followed Hanno down the mountain. Hanno kept a close watch on Yu Shu's condition, ready to provide another boost of Spiritual Energy whenever it seemed he was about to give out.
The three focused solely on saving him and made it out of the mountain in less than half an hour. They placed Yu Shu in the car, and Tie He drove at breakneck speed toward City Hospital. Hanno opened his phone to report the incident; since it didn't involve any underworld killings, they would leave Yu Shu's injury to the police for investigation and punishment—the good girl Hanno was law-abiding!
Tie He drove so fast that he triggered electronic speed cameras, catching the attention of traffic police. One officer on a motorcycle pulled them over.
"Pull over and show me your driver's license," the officer said sternly. The traffic police in D City were the best-equipped in all of S Province, even surpassing those in the Provincial Capital, with their latest model motorcycles allowing them to catch up with Tie He's car.
"Officer, we didn't mean to speed; we're trying to save someone and get him to the hospital as quickly as possible," Tie He explained while retrieving his driver's license.
The officer peered into the car and was startled by the sight of the bloodied and barely conscious Yu Shu. "What happened to him?" he asked.
"We don't know either," Hanno replied. "When we found him, he was like this. We've already called for help; we're rushing him to the hospital for emergency treatment."
"Why didn't you call 911?" the officer questioned.
"There's no time," Hanno said pitifully. "Going back and forth wastes time. We have a car, so we'll take him directly to the hospital. We're worried about being late, so please, Officer, have some understanding and don’t deduct points from my friend. A fine is fine; we can accept any amount as long as we can get him to the hospital quickly for emergency treatment."
The traffic officer listened and replied, "No need for a fine. Saving lives is more important. I'll clear the way for you; hurry to the hospital."
Hanno secretly smiled and quickly expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Officer."
"No need to thank me," the officer waved his hand and rushed back to his vehicle. With a sudden burst of speed, he took off, and Tie He hurriedly followed. With the officer leading the way, they arrived at the hospital smoothly and rushed Yu Shu into the operating room. Hanno parted ways with Tie He and Zhao Jun to visit Yang Yun in the gynecology ward. Yang Yun had already regained consciousness and was sipping on chicken soup that Mom Han had prepared for her.
Seeing Hanno enter, Yang Yun quickly asked, "Nono, did you find Shu? How is he now?"
Hanno stepped closer and pressed a hand on Yang Yun's shoulder. "Don't get too worked up; you've just had surgery. You don't want to strain your wounds."
Yang Yun grasped Hanno's hand tightly. "Please tell me quickly."
Hanno nodded reassuringly. "Don't worry; we found Yu Shu. He's not in any life-threatening danger; he just went through some tough times. Once he's feeling better, he can come see you and the baby."
Upon hearing this, Yang Yun let out a long breath and relaxed against the bed. "As long as he's okay, that's all that matters."
Hanno handed her the chicken soup. "Drink some more; you need to take care of yourself. Your son will need both of you to look after him."
Yang Yun's heart settled back into place, and she felt playful again. "Just now, Auntie and Uncle said they would help me take care of the baby."
Hanno glanced at his parents. "Mom, Dad, you really know how to create trouble for yourselves."
Mom Han replied, "What do you mean by creating trouble? Your dad and I have wanted a grandchild for a long time. If you won't give us one, we'll just have to take care of our grandnephew."
Hanno stared wide-eyed. "Want a grandchild? Simple, I'll give you one right away, but it would be out of wedlock."
Mom Han shot back, "If you dare to get pregnant out of wedlock, your dad and I will beat you to death."
Hanno stuck out her tongue. "Would you really do that?"
Mom Han huffed, clearly unwilling to go that far!
Yang Yun watched the two of them bicker with envy. Her relationship with her own parents was not very good. Yang Dad and Mom favored her older brother ten times more than they did her. A few years ago, they packed up and went to live with him, leaving Yang Yun quite disappointed. She only sent them a little support money each year and didn't visit them during the holidays.
Hanno's phone rang; it was Zhao Jun calling. The police had arrived and wanted to take statements from the three of them.
"I have to step out for a bit. Mom, please take care of Yang Yun," Hanno said.
"Go on, go on. I know you have a lot going on," Mom Han waved Hanno off. She was sitting closer to Hanno and had overheard Zhao Jun's words about Yang Yun's husband, so she pretended to shoo her daughter away to avoid worrying Yang Yun.
Hanno, Zhao Jun, and Tie He had already prepared their statements. They had found Yu Shu deep in the mountains after receiving a call from him. Yu Shu had been unconscious at Feng Yi Mountain, and they brought him back. Yu Shu's phone was broken long ago; the three of them had knocked Tie He's phone around a bit until its shell cracked and placed it on Yu Shu. Yu Shu actually had two phones—one was broken while the other was safely tucked in his underwear pocket and remained intact.
Based on the three statements, the police quickly found leads and identified the person responsible for Yu Shu's injuries. It turned out it wasn't anyone from the streets but rather a drunk driver who hit Yu Shu while driving under the influence. Fearing he would be caught by the police for fleeing the scene, he decided to take drastic measures and brought Yu Shu into the woods with the intention of burying him alive. However, he was too exhausted and lacked proper tools. Fortunately for him, he stumbled upon a cave that could fit a person inside. He placed Yu Shu in there and sealed the entrance with rocks, thinking that with such severe injuries and being trapped in an isolated cave, Yu Shu would surely die. Little did he know that Hanno would come along and not only find Yu Shu using her skills but also protect his last breath with her Spiritual Energy until he was finally rescued by the police.
The drunk driver faced severe penalties; if he had just hit someone without fleeing, even if it was particularly egregious, he would only face three to seven years in prison. However, since Yu Shu's case involved actions equivalent to attempted murder after fleeing the scene, it was much more serious. Zhao Jun had some influence and connections in the underworld, which he used later on to ensure that the driver would not be released from prison for at least twenty years.
After everything settled down, Zhao Jun handed over his influence to others and connected with several close brothers along with Tie He to find Hanno. Hanno personally led them to the Provincial Capital to meet Zhu Wenrui. The newly established entertainment company was called Xia Yu Entertainment; Zhu Wenrui wasn't the general manager but had hired a professional manager instead. Zhu Wenrui preferred working as a producer.
Hanno handed over Tie He and others to Zhu Wenrui, whose eyes lit up at the prospect of what Hanno might do after she left. She gave Zhu Wenrui her Inner Power manual and Martial Arts Manual, which earned skeptical looks from both him and Shen Chuiyang.
"Is this for real? You're not joking with us, are you?" Zhu Wenrui asked while holding what appeared to be an ancient-looking Inner Power manual. "You didn't buy this from an old beggar like A-Xing did, did you?"
Hanno shot him a glance, placing his left hand flat on the marble tea table and gently pressing down. "Shen Chuiyang, this tea table is broken; you should replace it with a new one."
Zhu Wenrui replied, "But this tea table was just bought, how could it possibly be broken, uh..."
Zhu Wenrui's words trailed off as his eyes widened like saucers, staring at the marble table. There, on the smooth surface of the marble, was an imprint of a hand that sank ten centimeters deep, the edges perfectly defined as if carved by a chisel.
Both Zhu Wenrui and Shen Chuiyang gasped in unison; it turned out that martial arts and inner strength truly existed in this world.
Hanno raised the booklet on Inner Power with a smile and asked, "So? Do you still want the martial arts manual that this old beggar sold me?"
"Yes, of course!" Zhu Wenrui lunged forward and snatched the booklet, caressing its cover as if it were the skin of an unparalleled beauty. His lewd expression nearly dripped with drool.
Shen Chuiyang also eagerly stroked the booklet that contained external martial arts techniques; no man could resist the allure of martial arts.
Hanno pulled out another manual and handed it to Shen Chuiyang. "Find an opportunity to give this to the military. It's up to you now, but don't expose me."
"Don't worry, I won't expose you," Shen Chuiyang said earnestly as he carefully tucked away the martial arts manual. "I thank you on behalf of my brothers in the military."
With the addition of ancient martial arts to enhance their strength, the safety of the special forces' brothers on missions would significantly improve. Therefore, Shen Chuiyang's gratitude was sincere. Although he had left the army, he still cared deeply for his brothers there; otherwise, he wouldn't have joined Foundation after Hanno's suggestion and worked hard to manage it.
Hanno smiled slightly. "No need to thank me; it's just a small effort on my part. There are many talented individuals in this world, and our country must strengthen itself."
"What do you mean?"
