Since it was Mom Han's request, Hanno would definitely comply. After returning to her room, Hanno opened her computer and began drafting an outline. Unlike the brainless dramas like Nirvana in Fire and Flower Thousand Bones, the characters in her story were all unique and lovable. Hanno did not want to replace any of them or stifle their essence. Therefore, she created a protagonist who did not exist in the original plot—a descendant of a vice general from the Red Flame Army, a medical doctor from a modern family of traditional Chinese medicine who also studied Western medicine, possessing exceptional medical skills. Because of her lineage, she was taken under the wing of Mei Changsu, working alongside Doctor Yan to research methods to treat Mei Changsu. Ultimately, they found a way to heal him, allowing him to grow old with Princess Nihuang.
Hanno was fortunate this time, as she instantly became the protagonist of her own story. Since she was reborn in the womb, she began cultivating even before birth, achieving Foundation Establishment Period strength upon arrival in the world. However, this world had relatively scarce Spiritual Energy, making it more challenging than the world of Great Tang Double Dragons, resulting in Hanno only forming her Golden Core at eighteen. While she wished to save her father in this life, he had remained in the military and seldom returned home; by the time Hanno was ten, she had only seen him twice. Moreover, she was unaware of the details surrounding the Red Flame Army's incident twelve years prior until members of the Suspended Mirror Division came to arrest the relatives of these so-called traitors. It was then that Hanno learned about the calamity that befell the Red Flame Army, where seventy thousand soldiers were wrongfully buried due to treachery—her father among them.
At this point, although Hanno had not yet formed her Golden Core, her Foundation Establishment Period combat power far surpassed that of any expert in this world; she could easily defeat all those from the Suspended Mirror Division, even making General Meng kneel before her. A group of Suspended Mirror Division members could hardly stand against Hanno, who defeated them all and escaped with her mother, her three-year-old brother, and several servants to a mountain village in Jinling. This place was within the territory of the Jiangzuo Alliance, where Hanno awaited Mei Changsu's arrival.
Eight years passed as they waited. When Hanno finally formed her Golden Core, Mei Changsu came knocking at last. Following him into the Jiangzuo Alliance, Hanno utilized the alchemical techniques from the cultivation world to create the Qingming Pill, which expelled the fire and cold poison residing within Mei Changsu, nurturing his body so that he would not reject Princess Nihuang.
On their way to the capital city, Hanno reunited with Elder Brother Li. In this life, he had been reborn as Zhuo Qingyao, the young master of Spring Mountain Villa. With his presence, although Spring Mountain Villa maintained a good relationship with Xie Yu, Zhuo Dingfeng did not become his lackey or assist him in wrongdoing. Just as with the Red Flame Army incident, Elder Brother Li had preemptively drugged Zhuo Dingfeng so that he lacked the energy to engage in treachery. However, despite lacking Zhuo Dingfeng's assistance due to his high status and power, Xie Yu still managed to recruit other experts to help him carry out his schemes.
Together with Elder Brother Li, Hanno showcased their strength within moments while keeping a low profile and revealing only part of their abilities. Combining Mei Changsu's wisdom with their own strength and foresight allowed them to successfully support Prince Yu in eliminating enemies like Xie Yu and Xia Jiang, helping clear the name of the Red Flame Army and securing victory in battle.
In the end, love triumphed as Mei Changsu and Princess Nihuang became a couple, while others also found happy endings. Elder Brother Li brought back Zhuo Yihang, the second young master of Spring Mountain Villa, reuniting father and son as well as mother and child. He accompanied Hanno back to her family's mountain village for a life of seclusion. From then on, they ceased their cultivation; their lifespans were significantly shorter than those from other worlds. When their lives eventually came to an end, they finally obtained a gem from this world.
As they placed the gem into the Square Zun, its reaction differed from previous occasions; it neither emitted light nor upgraded but instead gave rise to a phantom image of a bronze bell at its base.
Hanno and Elder Brother Li exchanged glances.
"That bronze bell must be what the Eastern Emperor Bell originally looked like," said Hanno.
Elder Brother Li nodded. "It seems that the upgrade for the Eastern Emperor Bell has reached its final stage; it is beginning to nurture its spirit."
"Spirit? I wonder what it will look like once it is born? Will it be like the red jade within ancient swords?" asked Hanno.
"It will definitely be stronger than red jade; after all, the Eastern Emperor Bell is an ancient artifact," replied Elder Brother Li.
The function of Square Zun had not increased, but neither of them minded. After all, the relatives from both families could now travel between the two worlds, and they had no regrets left.
Secondly, Hanno finished the fanfiction of Nirvana in Fire in a single time frame. With her current speed, writing tens of thousands of words was no problem at all; after all, she was now a Cultivator at the Transcendence Stage. In no time, the fanfiction was completed, uploaded, and scheduled for release. Hanno didn’t bother with it anymore and downloaded the videos she had filmed in the Nirvana in Fire world to show Mom Han.
Mom Han was very satisfied as she watched: “Not bad, this is good. The two main characters are together now, and the supporting characters are well off too; there are no regrets left. Daughter, you did well.”
Hanno made a face: “Mom, don’t ask me for this kind of thing again. It’s really hard work, you know?”
Mom Han rolled her eyes at Hanno: “Aren’t you quite keen on traveling between worlds? Hard work? Stop being so spoiled. Go on, I want to watch the video again. Wow, Mei Changsu and Princess Nihuang look so perfect together; they’re much better looking than the actors in the show…”
“…” Hanno grabbed a bag of chips, opened it, and started feeding herself some pieces when Mom Han snatched it away with quick reflexes. “Don’t eat that junk food. If you’re going to eat something, have Jujube; it’s good for replenishing blood and energy, and it’s good for the baby in your belly too.”
She replaced the chips with a bag of sweet Jujube.
Hanno shrugged; she didn’t care what she ate. With her current body, even eating something like Heartbreak Grass wouldn’t be a problem, let alone affecting the child inside her.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Hanno answered it to hear Zhu Wenrui's excited voice: “Hanno! Dawn of the Apocalypse has been nominated for an Oscar!”
“Huh?” Hanno rubbed her ears, thinking she hadn’t heard correctly. “Say that again; what happened with Dawn of the Apocalypse?”
Zhu Wenrui excitedly repeated: “Dawn of the Apocalypse has been nominated for an Oscar!”
“No way! That’s amazing!” Hanno couldn’t help but exclaim.
Zhu Wenrui laughed heartily; his reaction upon hearing the news was just like Hanno's.
“Hanno, the crew is heading to the United States for the Oscar awards ceremony. Do you want to go with us?”
"Of course we should go! How could we miss out on such a great opportunity?"
"What about Chang Miao and Shen Chuiyang? Are they going?"
Zhu Wenrui chuckled, "Chang Miao will definitely go, and Shen, being the devoted husband he is, will naturally follow."
Hanno chimed in, "Then I’ll go too. Can you help me book round-trip tickets?"
Zhu Wenrui asked, "What about Wei Feng? Is he going?"
Hanno replied, "He doesn't have the time."
Hanno felt a bit inconvenienced now; Elder Brother Li had to work in the Great Zhou every day, and after returning to the modern world, he couldn't move around freely, let alone accompany her on long trips!
"He's not in seclusion training, is he?" Zhu Wenrui suggested a reason for him.
"Yeah, yeah," Hanno casually responded. "How about you guys? How's your training going?"
Upon hearing this question, Zhu Wenrui became even more excited. "My internal strength has increased significantly; I can lift at least seven or eight hundred pounds with each arm now, and I can jump four meters high! Haha, it's a pity no one saw it; otherwise, I would have been mistaken for a superhuman."
"Oh? That's impressive!" Hanno exclaimed in surprise. She hadn't expected Zhu Wenrui to progress so quickly. "Has the Special Department not recruited you yet?"
Zhu Wenrui replied, "Tang Guanchao approached me, but I turned him down. However, I've become an external contractor for them and can choose to complete three missions for them each year."
Zhu Wenrui paused before adding, "I think Shen Chuiyang and I are benefiting from Wei Feng's influence; otherwise, the Special Department wouldn't be so polite to us. They would have definitely forced us into their ranks."
Hanno chuckled lightly. "You and Wei Feng are brothers; he must be very happy to help you."
After a brief conversation, the two agreed on a time to head to La and hung up the phone. Elder Brother Li feigned reluctance upon hearing Hanno's intention to go to La alone, but it was merely to tease Hanno. A short separation meant little to them; after all, they had spent over a decade apart in the world.
A while later, Hanno boarded the flight to La with Chang Miao and Zhu Wenrui. Chang Miao, now a mother, hadn’t matured much in temperament; she pulled Hanno along for a bit before dozing off. Shen Chuiyang asked a flight attendant for a blanket to cover Chang Miao and settled in to sleep beside her. Hanno, feeling wide awake, put on headphones and watched a movie. The film was a major competitor to "Dawn of the Apocalypse," a Hollywood blockbuster. Hanno watched it from start to finish and found its plot comparable to "Dawn of the Apocalypse," though it fell short in special effects—no Hollywood technology could match the black tech that Hanno possessed. However, being a domestic production, it inherently had an edge over "Dawn of the Apocalypse," making it difficult for the latter to snatch any awards from it.
The flight from Provincial Capital to La took over ten hours. After finishing the movie, Hanno noticed that nearly everyone on board had fallen asleep. He shrugged and decided to meditate instead; it seemed that the effects were stronger in the air than on solid ground!
Upon landing, everyone who hadn’t adjusted to the time difference felt groggy and eager to find a comfortable place to rest. Zhu Wenrui had taken care of arrangements and had already booked rooms at the Four Seasons Hotel. The Four Seasons Hotel in La was a luxurious establishment with high accommodation costs. Zhu Wenrui initially intended to book a more affordable hotel nearby but ended up reserving at the Four Seasons since Hanno would cover the expenses and didn’t mind the price as long as they were comfortable.
The hotel was located near Beverly Hills, known as “the most prestigious residential area in the world,” symbolizing wealth and fame. It boasted some of the highest-end shopping streets globally and was home to many Hollywood stars' mansions, serving as a sacred ground for the film industry. Rodeo Drive was Beverly Hills’ famous shopping street, lined with flagship stores of top brands. The grandeur surpassed that of other shopping areas, with each building showcasing meticulous interior and exterior designs that reflected a perfect blend of art and commerce. Chang Miao was very interested in Beverly Hills; once she regained her energy, she dragged Hanno out to explore Rodeo Drive, indulging in shopping while hoping for a chance encounter with some Hollywood stars. They were lucky enough to spot several celebrities but only observed from afar without approaching for autographs.
After some shopping and sightseeing, they finally arrived at the Oscar Awards ceremony held at Hollywood's renowned Dolby Theatre, formerly known as Kodak Theatre. Completed in November 2001, it has been the fixed venue for the Oscars since its inception. Hanno and her companions didn’t have to walk the red carpet; they followed staff directly into the theater and took their seats.
“Thank goodness we don’t have to walk the red carpet. Wearing a dress would definitely make me freeze,” Chang Miao said gleefully to Hanno. The temperature in Hollywood wasn’t high that day; the cold wind made it feel even chillier, making even down jackets feel insufficient—let alone those actresses on the red carpet wearing revealing dresses. Chang Miao felt cold just looking at them.
Hanno shot her an annoyed glance. “That’s called professional ethics!”
Chang Miao bared her teeth playfully. “Oh please, you’re just shedding crocodile tears! Don’t think I can’t see your excitement.”
“What are you two lovely ladies chatting about?” A shadow loomed beside Hanno as someone sat down next to her.
“Oh, Director Jia! Long time no see! Why are you only arriving now?” Hanno greeted him along with Chang Miao.
“The flight was delayed,” Jia Qianjun replied. He hadn’t traveled with Hanno’s group; he had returned to Bay Island for New Year’s celebrations and decided to rest longer before flying directly from Bay Island to La.
“You’re quite popular now! Are reporters from Bay Island chasing you around so you can’t even board your flight?” Chang Miao joked.
Jia Qianjun forced a smile. “Please don’t give me the cold shoulder.”
"How is this a cold shoulder? Aren't you popular enough?" Chang Miao rolled her eyes at Jia Qianjun.
Jia Qianjun sighed, "You all know the nature of Bay Island reporters; being famous brings a lot of trouble."
Chang Miao was curious, "What happened?"
Jia Qianjun glanced at Hanno, "Hanno, don't get mad, okay?"
"Is this about me?" Hanno's interest was piqued. "I promise I won't get mad, and I won't take it out on you."
"This is your doing, isn't it?"
With that assurance, Jia Qianjun took out his phone, connected to the Bay Island webpage, and handed it to Hanno. "You can see for yourself!"
Hanno took it with confusion, and Chang Miao leaned in closer to look at the screen. The webpage title read: "Oscar-Winning Director Jia Qianjun's Secret Lover."
Chang Miao immediately asked, "Director Jia, when did you get a girlfriend? Why didn't you tell us?"
Jia Qianjun forced a smile. "Just keep reading!"
Folks, I've been busy revising old works lately and haven't had much time to write new content. I don't have any drafts saved, so I can only update Xinyi today.
So, everyone, there's no need to expect more from Nirvana in Fire; all the plot points I originally planned for it have been moved to another world.
