"Are they together now?" Hanno asked curiously. "What was Madam Yoon's reaction?"
"Of course, she opposed it," Xin Ai replied with a smirk. "She was very adamant about it, but unfortunately, she couldn't go against her only son. Plus, Choi Eun-hee is suffering from leukemia, looking so pitiful that it makes me feel sorry for her. If Madam Yoon continues to oppose it, she'll become the villain in everyone's eyes. How could she dare to oppose?"
"Leukemia? Is there hope for treatment?" Hanno inquired. Originally, Choi Eun-hee had died, and Yin Junxi had followed suit in despair. Poor her parents, having such an unfilial child who prioritizes love above all else; their lives would be filled with suffering.
"Yeah," Xin Ai replied dismissively. "The money I gave to the Cui Family is enough for Choi Eun-hee's surgery, and Seong-jun is secretly helping too, arranging suitable bone marrow for her. She definitely won't die."
"You really are tough on the outside but soft on the inside," Hanno said, raising his hand to ruffle Xin Ai's hair. But seeing her beautifully styled hair and veil, he lowered his hand instead. However, Xin Ai took his hand and placed it on her head. "Oppa, even though you're older than me, in my heart, you're just like my brother—my closest person!"
"Dang dang dang, dang dang dang..." The romantic and solemn wedding march began to play as Xin Ai linked arms with Hanno, who led her down the aisle toward the groom. Xin Ai had already decided with the Yin Family that there would be no father or brothers to give her away; Hanno naturally took on that role. Her prominent status made the groom's family feel honored rather than dissatisfied.
"Xin Ai has suffered a lot; you must take good care of her and not let her suffer anymore. Otherwise, I won't spare you," Hanno warned before handing Xin Ai over to the groom.
Choi Sung-jun nodded seriously. "Don't worry; I love Xin Ai more than my life. I will never let her suffer even a little."
Hanno smiled at this and placed Xin Ai's hand into the groom's hand.
"Oppa!" Xin Ai's voice trembled slightly.
"The bride can't cry," Hanno chuckled as he walked back to sit beside Elder Brother Li. "I feel like I'm marrying off a daughter."
Elder Brother Li held her hand. "In the future, when we have our own daughter, we won't let her marry; we'll make the other party come as a son-in-law."
Hanno laughed at this suggestion. "That's a good plan!"
Hanno stretched lazily and sat up in bed, shuffling out of the bedroom in his slippers. Elder Brother Li emerged from the kitchen, carrying breakfast.
"You're up, time for breakfast," he said.
Hanno walked over to the dining table and sat down. "Can you spread some jam on my bread?"
"Sure," Elder Brother Li replied cheerfully, spreading jam on a slice of bread before handing it to Hanno. Hanno took a big bite, as if he were biting into Elder Brother Li himself, and shot him a sidelong glance.
Elder Brother Li rubbed his nose awkwardly and continued to serve Hanno attentively, much like how Li served Empress Dowager Cixi. He felt guilty; he had pushed Hanno too hard last night. But Hanno was equally enthusiastic—after all, they hadn't been together for decades; why not make up for lost time?
After a simple breakfast, Hanno finally regained his good spirits. The two of them tidied up and headed back to the countryside to visit Han Dad and Mom Han, along with their two little buns. The buns had grown increasingly adorable and were incredibly smart; they never cried when they were hungry or needed to go to the bathroom but would only hum softly to express their needs. Hanno almost thought his two buns were reincarnated beings until he observed closely and realized that while they were indeed clever, they were just ordinary buns—not adults reincarnated. Their intelligence stemmed mainly from the excellent nutrition they received while in Hanno's belly.
"Baba, Beibei, have you missed your mom and dad?" Hanno asked as he and Elder Brother Li each picked up a bun. The buns recognized them and smiled happily, babbling in a language that only adults couldn't understand.
"Just like true parents! You two haven't visited them in so long, yet they still remember you," Mom Han said with a hint of jealousy.
Hanno chuckled and leaned down to take a bite from each bun's cheek. The buns responded enthusiastically, playfully splattering saliva on Hanno and Elder Brother Li's faces.
"How are Liu Guanwun and Song Minghai doing?"
"Very good, both of you are nice kids," Mom Han said, feeling quite pleased with the two ancient beings. "They've been diligently studying online at the computer. They also help your dad and me with chores, which is great. You two should help them out more in the future."
"Sure, we got it," Hanno nodded.
Hanno and Elder Brother Li returned to the city after spending two days in the countryside because the weekend had arrived, and Li Yishu and the others were coming back from school. To help them adapt better to modern life, Elder Brother Li had sent them to a boarding school so they could mingle with their classmates. However, the three didn't stay at home for long before Elder Brother Li took them back to the countryside. Compared to their brother and sister-in-law showing off their affection, they preferred to return to the countryside to accompany Han Dad and Mom Han while taking care of their nieces and nephews.
Jia Qianjun and Long Wenwen came to visit the Li Family. Long Wenwen wore a relaxed smile on her face, indicating that her trip back home had gone very well, and all her worries had been resolved.
"Gift," Jia Qianjun tossed a jade box to Hanno.
Hanno opened it to find it filled with Peaches of Immortality—some were nine thousand years old, some six thousand years old, and some three thousand years old. The quantity was astonishingly large.
"Wow, you didn't pick all the peaches from Peach Garden, did you?"
Jia Qianjun replied nonchalantly, "Yep!"
"Cough, cough! What are you doing?" Hanno nearly choked on his own saliva. "You picked all the peaches from Peach Garden? Aren't you afraid Queen Mother will come after you?"
"She won't be able to trace it back to me, plus I have Yang Jian and Sun Wukong helping me take the blame!" Jia Qianjun chuckled.
"You're impressive for managing to frame your former rival," Hanno said, giving him a thumbs up.
Jia Qianjun let out a laugh and glanced at Long Wenwen with a hint of embarrassment. Seeing that she wasn't angry or anything like that relieved him. He turned back to Hanno and said, "Actually, giving you so many peaches isn't just a freebie."
"I knew it," Hanno rolled his eyes. "So, is there something we can help with?"
Jia Qianjun did not respond immediately; instead, he released his aura. The overwhelming pressure made Hanno and Elder Brother Li struggle to breathe.
"You... you've reached the strength of a quasi-saint?" Elder Brother Li asked in astonishment once Jia Qianjun retracted his aura.
"Not yet," Jia Qianjun shook his head. "I am currently only at the level of a Great Luo Golden Immortal. It will be very difficult for me to advance further in the future."
"And then? You didn't show off your strength just for bragging rights, did you?" Hanno inquired.
"Of course not," Jia Qianjun replied. "After thinking it over, I believe there is only one way for me to enhance my power."
Elder Brother Li and Hanno exchanged puzzled glances.
Jia Qianjun continued, "I plan to go to the Primordial World. The Earth Qi there is abundant and can support us all the way to quasi-saint level. If we're lucky, we might even achieve Sage status—immortal and untouched by causality. What do you think? Are you tempted?"
Of course, they were tempted, but—
"Isn't there already an Eastern Emperor Taiyi in the Primordial World? If you go there, won't you have to merge with him? What if you forget about us after merging? How will we ever come back?" Hanno raised a concern.
Jia Qianjun reassured them, "Don't worry. My soul is independent. I am Jia Qianjun now, and under the recognition of the Dao, I will still be Jia Qianjun. Although I have a connection with Eastern Emperor Taiyi, we are two separate beings. My soul will not be absorbed by him."
"That's good to hear," Elder Brother Li said. "Are these Peaches of Immortality meant for us to improve our cultivation? Are you worried that we might be too weak and get wiped out as soon as we arrive in the Primordial World?"
Jia Qianjun smiled and said, "Clever, you've seen through my thoughts. Indeed, I hope you can improve your cultivation during this time. After all, there are too many strong individuals in the Primeval Era. With your current cultivation just past the Profound Immortal stage, it is very dangerous in the Primordial World."
"If it's dangerous, then we won't go. Our current cultivation allows us to walk freely in this world, so why should we venture into the Primordial World?" Hanno's eyes flickered as he spoke.
"Don't!" Jia Qianjun quickly replied.
Hanno sneered twice, "So, why do you want us to go to the Primordial World? Spare me the excuses about cultivation."
Jia Qianjun wiped his face and said, "Alright, I admit it. Actually, I want to borrow your luck to help Eastern Emperor Taiyi and the demon race change their fate. Also, I need your help to change the fate of my Wenwen in another world so that she won't fall for Yang Jian again."
Hanno pointed at himself and then at Elder Brother Li. "Luck? Are you sure we have that kind of thing? We're just ordinary people, not some so-called protagonists."
Jia Qianjun chuckled twice. "Ordinary people? You underestimate yourselves. Without luck protecting you, how could you have obtained the Eastern Emperor Bell? How could Li Wei Feng have been reborn in another world after death? How could you two reunite across two worlds? How could you transform from ordinary people into immortals? How could everything go so smoothly for you in every world? Ordinary people? Are there really ordinary people like you?"
"Well..." Hanno was at a loss for words. It was true that things had gone too smoothly for Jia Qianjun and Elder Brother Li. Could it be that they really had some kind of luck helping them?
Elder Brother Li spoke up, "Alright, we'll go to the Primordial World and help Eastern Emperor Taiyi and Ao Cunxin change their fate."
Jia Qianjun was overjoyed and somewhat incredulous. "You... really?"
Elder Brother Li replied, "Of course. You are our friend, and since this concerns your past lives, we should naturally help. Besides, as you know, Nono and I have deep luck; who knows, we might really cultivate into saints in the Primordial World!"
