“Dong Huang Tai Yi should know about the Infinite Cataclysm, right?” Jia Qianjun asked.
“I do. On the earth, all living beings are evolving, struggling for survival. Their fates intertwine, forming various Causality. As life proliferates, this struggle for existence becomes increasingly fierce, and contradictions explode under certain factors, known as calamities, which can vary in magnitude. The greatest Infinite Cataclysm can only be survived by those who have attained the Sage status, while lesser calamities still offer a glimmer of hope,” Eastern Emperor Taiyi replied calmly. “Since the earth was first opened, it has already experienced two lesser calamities. The first was the Opening Calamity, during which nearly all of the three thousand Chaos Gods and Demons perished, leaving only a few survivors; the second was the Longhan Initial Calamity, where the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans waged war against each other. The final outcome was devastating losses that led to their withdrawal from the Primeval Era, allowing our demon clan to rise in power. Is our demon clan's demise related to these calamities?”
Jia Qianjun nodded. “Exactly. The Great Cataclysm was the Witch-Demon Calamity, where the Witch Clan and the demon clan both exited the stage of the Primeval Era. The Twelve Ancestor Witches were annihilated, and our demon clan suffered heavy casualties. Both Dong Huang Tai Yi and Di Jun died in the final battle, with only a handful of the Top Ten Demon Saints surviving.”
The expression on Eastern Emperor Taiyi darkened. “What exactly happened? Please tell me in detail.”
“Although a court was established, most of the demon clan still lived on the surface, while the Witch Clan also resided there. It was inevitable that conflicts arose over territory and resources. As these conflicts escalated, they eventually led to war between the two clans. However, this war was still limited in scale and did not escalate into an all-out extermination battle until events like Kua Fu chasing the sun and Hou Yi shooting down suns occurred… Ten suns traversed the ancient Primeval Era, causing great suffering among living beings. The great sorcerer Hou Yi gathered his tribe's strength along with various secret techniques from the Witch Clan to shoot down nine golden crows. After Hou Yi shot down the nine golden crows, he was killed by numerous demon gods. The contradictions between both sides intensified…”
“…The demon clan and the Witch Clan suffered heavy losses. At that time, Eastern Emperor Taiyi calculated that in order to preserve what remained of the demon clan, he risked his very soul to send them out of the Primeval Era, thus granting them a sliver of hope…”
Eastern Emperor Taiyi: “…”
A long time passed—truly a long time; in the Primordial World, time held no concept at all. Immortals could sleep for hundreds or even thousands of years—until finally, Eastern Emperor Taiyi spoke: “Did the demon clan really have to exit the Primeval Era to survive?”
Jia Qianjun’s voice was heavy: “This is the arrangement of Dao.”
“Dao! Ha! What a Dao!” Eastern Emperor Taiyi scoffed indignantly. “I will discuss this matter with my brother; you… you all come with me to see him!”
Di Jun found it easier to accept what Jia Qianjun had said. Since becoming Demon Emperor, he had felt a shadow looming over him but did not know its origin until he met with Jia Qianjun and his companions; that shadow finally lifted, revealing the truth.
“Where did Dong Huang Tai Yi decide for our clan to go?” Di Jun asked.
“In a large land within the Chaos Void. It is a fragment that broke off from the great land of the Primeval Era when Pangu split open the earth,” Jia Qianjun explained as he provided coordinates to Di Jun and his brother. The chaotic space was extremely dangerous; finding a piece of land there was nearly impossible. But with coordinates, it became much easier. This coordinate had been preserved deep within Dong Huang Tai Yi’s memory; even his remnant soul would not forget it.
Dong Huang Tai Yi asked: “How large is this land? Can it accommodate all of our demon clan?”
"One-tenth of the Primordial World can accommodate the entire demon race," Jia Qianjun replied.
"That's good," Di Jun said. "I will notify the Top Ten Demon Saints to discuss the matter of our migration as a whole."
Elder Brother Li interjected, "The migration must be conducted secretly, and the fewer people who know about it, the better. Otherwise, if Dao catches wind of it, this plan cannot be executed."
"Thank you for the reminder, my friend," Di Jun said, cupping his hands toward Elder Brother Li. "However, we still need to inform the Twelve Ancestor Witches."
Although Di Jun and Dong Huang Tai Yi were not fond of the Twelve Ancestor Witches or the Witch Clan, they had no choice but to secretly ally with them for the sake of their survival. Despite their impulsive and fiery temperaments, the Twelve Ancestor Witches were not without their clever members. Upon learning from Di Jun and Dong Huang Tai Yi about the fate awaiting both clans, they began to plot their escape. They decided on a new settlement location for the Witch Clan beyond the Primordial Copper Gate. The Primordial Copper Gate was one of the most mysterious entities in the Primeval Era; beyond it lay a self-contained realm that was not considered part of the Primordial World. However, that land had thin Spiritual Energy and scarce resources, inhabited by many demons from the Dark Realm. Anyone from the Primordial World who accidentally wandered into that area would face certain death. Yet for the Witch Clan, that place was not a dead end; they cultivated powerful physiques and did not require Spiritual Energy. The demons were no match for them. The Witch Clan was also quite combative; with demons around, their lives would not be dull. It was no wonder that the Twelve Ancestor Witches chose to establish their new base beyond the Primordial Copper Gate.
The demon race and the Witch Clan secretly communicated with each other while putting on a show of conflict for nearly a thousand years in front of Dao. In reality, they had already discreetly moved their young and old to their respective new territories outside of the Primordial World, where Dao could not detect them. Finally, it came time for their grand showdown.
The Twelve Ancestor Witches stood opposed to Di Jun, Dong Huang Tai Yi, and the Top Ten Demon Saints, a chilling aura of killing intent sweeping across nearly half of the Primordial World as war was about to erupt...
Many in the Primordial World were watching this war unfold: the Three Pure Ones, Zhenyuan Daxian, Western Two Saints, and Dao Ancestor Hongjun who had already attained unity... even Nuwa, who once belonged to the demon race but was now a Sage! Everyone sighed; they did not know who would win or lose between the two clans, but regardless of the outcome, it was certain that both sides would suffer heavy casualties. One clan might even vanish forever from the Primordial World or suffer severe injuries like the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans and withdraw entirely from the stage of history.
"Di Jun, is this our final battle?" Di Jiang suddenly spoke up.
"Indeed," Di Jun replied. "This time I will hold nothing back."
Di Jiang declared, "Neither will we; let’s fight with all our might!"
"Agreed!"
As soon as he finished speaking, both sides moved simultaneously. The Twelve Ancestor Witches activated the Twelve Capital Divine Formation, merging together to form a giant whose head reached heaven while its feet touched hell—this was Pangu's True Form. The Top Ten Demon Saints led by Di Jun and Dong Huang Tai Yi unleashed the Zhou Star Battle Array. The collision of these two formations shook the Primeval Era to its core. Suddenly, both Pangu's True Form and Zhou Star Battle Array vanished at once; looking at the battlefield now, neither demons nor members of the Witch Clan could be seen.
"They disappeared simultaneously?" Everyone was astonished and began calculating what had transpired between the Witch Clan and demons.
The results of the calculations left them astonished: they couldn't figure it out! Whether it was the Demon Clan or the Witch Clan, their whereabouts and future were beyond their grasp. All they knew was that neither the Demon Clan nor the Witch Clan suffered the heavy losses that were originally destined. Apart from Houtu and the Reincarnation of Houtu, all Twelve Ancestor Witches were alive, and both Demon Emperor Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi were doing just fine. So, was that earlier performance all an act?
The powerful beings of the Primeval Era were in disarray; they felt played. How many could remain in good spirits? However, some began to ponder. The fact that the Demon Clan and Witch Clan managed to evade the second calamity and escape the Dao's calculations, breaking free from their original fate, raised a question: could those caught in the Great Cataclysm also pass through safely? Among them, Tongjiao Master was particularly concerned; he had a feeling that he might be involved in the Great Cataclysm himself.
In addition to the simultaneous disappearance of the Demon Clan and Witch Clan from the Primordial World, another event occurred. However, it was so trivial that apart from a few individuals—no, not individuals but dragons—no one paid it any mind: the newly born daughter of West Sea Dragon King, still an egg known as Third Princess, suddenly went missing. West Sea Dragon King sought help from his three brothers and mobilized all resources within the dragon clan but could not find the egg. Ultimately, West Sea Dragon King and Dragon Empress had to accept this reality. But where was that dragon egg now?
In the new residence of the Demon Clan, Eastern Emperor Taiyi fiddled with a pink dragon egg. Would what lay inside become his wife in the future?
Thus, the answer emerged: the culprit behind the egg theft was none other than our aloof Dong Huang Tai Yi. Surprised? After hearing from Jia Qianjun that he and Western Sea Third Princess had reincarnated as a couple, Dong Huang Tai Yi became interested in her. He felt that with this change in fate, he would no longer become Jia Qianjun; wouldn’t that sever his connection with Western Sea Third Princess? No way! How could his future wife be given to someone else? So, with his strong sense of masculinity and self-centeredness, Dong Huang Tai Yi simply took away Western Sea Third Princess while she was still an egg! There was no need for Hanno and Elder Brother Li to think of ways to change her fate anymore! Was Dong Huang Tai Yi planning on raising her like in Genji Monogatari?
As Dong Huang Tai Yi was "communicating feelings" with his future wife, he suddenly sensed a tremendous pressure descending upon him. He immediately abandoned the dragon egg and teleported out of his cave to look toward the direction where Di Jun's family resided. The Top Ten Demon Saints reacted just as quickly, gathering around Dong Huang Tai Yi with expressions of disbelief and ecstasy.
"Your Majesty, have you become a Sage?" Heroic Summon asked excitedly. Though it was a question, his tone was filled with certainty.
"Doesn't Hongjun say that only seven Sages are born during each Dao's interval?" Although pleased, Qiming also expressed confusion—a confusion shared by most.
The wisest among them, Bai Ze, who possessed profound knowledge, answered everyone's doubts: "The interval Hongjun refers to is about the Primordial World. Now that we have left the Primordial World and are free from Dao's suppression, it is entirely normal for His Majesty—whose strength was already at peak quasi-Sage—to advance to Sage at this moment."
He then encouraged everyone: "Here there are no Dao restrictions; as long as we work hard, we will eventually achieve Sage status one day."
The response he received was a fervent gaze from everyone present.
