Chapter 45: Becoming Stronger
"Something's wrong, Arlong!"
The Fishman who survived underwater climbed out of the pool at Arlong Park and rushed to Arlong, panic evident on his face. "Belio was killed by a sea fish, and Lord Crooby was taken away!"
"What?"
Arlong, who had been leaning back and watching the distant battle with a relaxed demeanor, immediately straightened up and leaned forward, looking at the Fishman. "What do you mean? A sea fish could take Crocboy?"
"It was a gigantic Black Sea Fish. As soon as we went underwater, it attacked us, killed Belio, and then snatched Lord Crooby away." The Fishman’s expression was tense as he recalled the terrifying scene, still feeling a sense of dread.
"A black sea fish?"
Arlong thought back to the description from eight and a half years ago. Could it be that same sea fish?
"How did it take Crocboy?"
Arlong asked in confusion. Even if Crocboy was ambushed, he should have been injured but not captured.
"It had tentacles! The belly of that sea fish was covered in tentacles!"
The Fishman shouted.
"A sea fish with tentacles on its belly? That wasn’t mentioned in the words from eight years ago."
Arlong frowned and then stood up decisively. "I need to see this for myself."
He walked to the edge of the pool and leaped into the water.
Whoosh.
Arlong pushed back with both hands and kicked off the water, propelling himself forward.
He was close to the Water Surface, and the curved blade-like bone extending from the back of his head resembled a shark's dorsal fin.
Arlong's speed was astonishing, even faster than that of Choo. With a few powerful thrusts, he reached the vicinity of the Battleship.
Crocboy and Belio were nowhere to be seen.
What?
Arlong squinted, sniffing the air as he pursued into the distance.
He tracked the scent of blood, moving away from the Coast and into a sea area where the water still held a relatively thick trace of blood.
Crocboy had sustained significant injuries here.
But where had he gone?
Arlong sensed the pervasive smell of blood around him, making it impossible to pinpoint a specific target.
"Did he escape?"
Arlong furrowed his brow, his expression darkening. "That sea creature was severely injured by Eight with just a punch, yet Crocboy's unarmed combat ability is even stronger than Eight's without a knife? How could Crocboy possibly be killed?"
"Wait a bit longer."
On the surface of the water, Jiu was engaged in battle with two Fishmen and a Navy sailor. However, with Crocboy's departure, the Naval Battleship stabilized, and the Sailors began to fight back in full force.
The two Fishmen were already injured, while Jiu was dodging attacks, struggling to find an opportunity to strike.
"What is Crocboy doing?"
Jiu was not skilled in close combat and could not easily leave the ship, plus his water supply was limited.
Suddenly, a Sailor struck him on the shoulder. He reached out and grabbed the Sailor by the neck, twisting it violently.
With a crack, the Sailor's cervical vertebrae snapped.
But in the next moment, Jiu was stabbed again.
Gritting his teeth, he said, "We need to retreat."
Splashing sounds echoed as Jiu and the two Fishmen jumped into the water. With Crocboy gone, they left the ship and swam towards Arlong Park.
"Go, hurry! The Colonel is injured; we need to get back!"
Another officer who had followed the Colonel shouted loudly. The Sailors adjusted their positions as the Battleship sailed away from the battlefield.
Underwater, Xiaqiu swam towards the distance, but instead of leaving directly, he circled around the island, moving away in a wide arc.
The reason Xiaqiu did this was due to his concern about the Shark Fishman and Dolphin Fishman among the Fishmen. He feared they might be able to detect his location through the scent of blood, vibrations, and sound waves.
Especially Arlong; if he were caught by him, escaping his slaughter would be nearly impossible.
Heart Point was not mistaken.
As Xiaqiu swam further away, the heat flow from his body gradually dissipated over time.
Once the heat flow completely vanished, Xiaqiu passed by a patch of underwater rocks. As he swam past a protruding rock, he suddenly flicked his tail.
Boom.
The rock was struck by his tail and exploded into pieces, yet his tail remained unharmed.
This rock was quite large; although it had been eroded by seawater and was pockmarked, he was still able to shatter it, indicating a significant increase in strength.
His power had grown considerably.
Although his weight had not increased much, his muscles had become stronger, leading to an increase in strength.
The force of his tail strikes and the power of his pectoral fins had both increased significantly. His biting force had also improved, allowing him to swim faster and hit harder.
His bones were tougher, and his scales had become more resilient.
This enhancement significantly boosted my combat power.
Most importantly, my strength reached a critical threshold, allowing not only my impact force to increase but also my slashing and striking power to meet the standards of an Officer.
With this, many of my attacks would no longer just be for containment; they could inflict substantial damage.
Xiaqiu swam past the rocks and curled up behind them. After a while, it resumed feeding.
Xiaqiu continued to eat, and the severed tentacles began to regenerate at a rapid pace.
This was not only because Xiaqiu could repair its injuries by consuming Evolutionary Energy but also because, during the process of regrowing its tentacles, it had consumed many Octopuses.
Many Octopuses possess formidable regenerative abilities. When faced with powerful enemies, their tentacles can detach to ensure survival, and after a short time, they can regrow.
Xiaqiu kept feeding, and the Tentacles slowly began to grow back. It wouldn’t be long before they were restored to their original state.
Additionally, with one Officer dead, the fearsome Dragon Pirate Crew would undoubtedly be on high alert. Therefore, I needed to hide for a while, gradually increase my strength, arm myself, and become even stronger.
Sooner or later, I would devour every Fishman of the Dragon Pirate Crew.
...
On one of the Merchant Ships of the Shining Gold Consortium, Marcel stood on deck, wielding a Broad Sword as he swung it forward.
Clang.
In front of him, one of the Eight held a Katana in front of himself, effortlessly blocking the strike.
Clang, clang, clang.
Marcel swung his broad sword, relentlessly attacking Eight, but all his strikes were blocked by Eight's blade.
"Too many openings."
Eight smirked mockingly, aiming for a gap and slashing out with a single stroke.
Clang.
Marcel withdrew his longsword, raising it in front of him as their blades collided.
Thud.
Marcel felt a tremendous force travel through his sword, causing him to kneel on the ground.
"You are too weak."
Eight sheathed his katana, shaking his head in disappointment at this sparring session.
"Your strength is overwhelming."
Marcel sat on the ground, wiping the sweat from his forehead. When his opponent struck, he found himself unable to defend against it.
Not only that, but Eight used just one sword and focused solely on defense, forcing Marcel to exert all his effort.
If he unleashed all Six Blades at once, even ten of him would be slaughtered.
"Among us Fishmen, our strength surpasses that of humans," said Hachi proudly.
Marcel rubbed his wrist and replied, "But I will train hard. I hope that one day, I can be as strong as you."
"Is that so?"
Hachi laughed heartily and said, "Impossible! Even if you trained for a hundred years, you would never reach my level."
"I will definitely achieve it."
Marcel thought to himself as he observed Hachi's demeanor.
He walked to the side, picked up the Broad Sword, and began his training.
He needed to work hard to become stronger and eventually become a Bounty Hunter, hunting down pirates.
