Chapter One Hundred and Four: Setting Sail
In the East Sea, at the Coast of Windmill Village in the Goa Kingdom.
A sailboat slowly departed from the shore, heading towards the horizon.
On the coast, a crowd of people stood watching, among them a boy wearing a straw hat shouted loudly, "Give it your all, Ace!"
"Just wait and see, I will soon make a name for myself across the Four Seas!"
On the boat, a freckled boy with a hat wore a brilliant smile on his face.
The boy was none other than seventeen-year-old Ace, who was about to embark on his adventure and begin his own journey.
As the ship sailed further away, he gradually faded into the distance.
...
On Zoumeida Island, in front of the Orange Grove, a grand ceremony was taking place.
The entire Orange Grove was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and white drapes. There were flower arches, a long white carpet, rows of chairs on either side, and tables set up in the back.
Standing at the front of the backdrop was a sturdy young man in a suit, looking nervous yet filled with anticipation.
Not far from him stood an elderly man in a suit who cleared his throat and called out, "Please welcome the bride."
At the end of the white carpet, a figure appeared. With orange hair and a still somewhat slender figure, she wore a white dress and had a smile on her face as she walked toward him.
As she approached, she nodded at the young man before stepping aside.
Following her were two children, one boy and one girl, carrying flower baskets. They walked down the carpet, scattering flowers as they went until they reached the front row of chairs where they sat down.
Two figures stepped onto the carpet.
One was a short woman in a light purple dress, wearing a white wedding gown, her face flushed with shyness.
The other was a middle-aged man with scars on his face, looking somewhat uneasy.
The woman linked her arm with the man's as they walked step by step down the carpet.
Passing through the archway, they approached the young man. The middle-aged man looked at him and couldn't help but say, "Marcel, I leave Nokigao in your hands."
"Don't worry, I will take good care of her," the tall young man replied with a smile, glancing at Nokigao beside him, his eyes filled with affection.
The young man was Marcel, and today was his wedding to Nokigao. They had known each other for a year and a half and had developed feelings for one another.
This year, at the age of eighteen, Nokigao was marrying twenty-two-year-old Marcel.
Aken stood in for Nokigao's father, bringing her before Marcel and handing her over to him.
She was about to get married.
Aken's eyes turned red as he took a seat.
"The wedding will now begin."
The village doctor from Cocoa West Village cleared his throat; he had been chosen as the officiant and felt a bit nervous.
"Marcel, do you take..."
“Nokigao, … do you agree…”
“I do!”
“I do!”
“Exchange the rings.”
“I declare that from this moment on, Marcel and Nokigao are united as husband and wife.”
With a trembling voice, the officiant pronounced Marcel and Nokigao as married, and tears of joy streamed down the faces of Nami, Aken, and many villagers present.
Cutting the cake, popping champagne, the wedding venue erupted into celebration.
“Nokigao is getting married,” Nami said with red-rimmed eyes. “If only Aunt Bellemere could see this.”
“Yes,” Aken replied, standing nearby with a sigh. “She has been gone for five years.”
Nami lowered her head, beginning to sob quietly.
“This is a joyous occasion, Nami, don’t cry,” Aken said softly.
But Nami looked at Aken and gently replied, “But you, Kensan…”
Aken held back tears, her eyes glistening, but a single tear fell down her cheek.
For Aken, Bellemere had always been the object of her unspoken affection. Though she had loved her deeply, she never found the courage to express it before her passing.
After Belmer's passing, Nokigao had been cared for by Aken, just like a daughter.
Aken felt very sad as her daughter was getting married.
However, seeing Nokigao in the crowd, so happy, brought her some comfort.
Both Nami and Aken genuinely felt happy for her.
"By the way, why hasn't that Fishman come? Is he at home?" Aken suddenly asked.
"Fishman? What about Jin?" Nami asked, slightly startled, looking at Aken.
They had been hiding the existence of Jin and were unsure how Aken knew.
"He's that officer from the Evil Dragon Pirate Crew, the Octopus Fishman. You two have been living together since the year before last," Aken said gently.
Nami asked in surprise, "You... you know?"
"Of course, I'm the sheriff of this village after all."
Aken smiled and added, "Not only do I know, but the other villagers do too."
"Then how come you all..." Nami asked blankly, realizing that they knew Jin was here but hadn't reported him to the Navy.
"That Octopus Fishman has committed fewer crimes and even stopped Arlong from being violent. He doesn't pose a significant threat."
Aken said softly, "More importantly, you accepted him, so we turned a blind eye."
"Yeah, Jin is really great. He took care of me while I was with the Evil Dragon Pirate Crew," Nami replied quietly.
"Aken" nodded and said, "You can let him out; none of us will inform the Navy."
"I will," "Nami" replied with a smile. After a moment's thought, she added, "There's one more thing."
"What is it?" "Aken" asked curiously.
"Nami" said, "I plan to leave the village and set sail with 'Usopp'."
"Sail? Why?" "Aken" asked, puzzled.
"Nami" smiled and replied, "I still feel that this life is too dull, and I love the sea. One of my dreams is to create a map of the entire world."
"Create a map of the world? So, you want to go to other oceans, including the Grand Line?" "Aken" asked with some concern.
"Nami" nodded, saying, "I will."
Hearing this, "Aken" frowned and said, "The Grand Line is so dangerous; you're only fifteen."
"Nami" smiled and reassured him, "For now, I'll be mapping the East Blue. It will take some time, and with 'Usopp' protecting me, I’ll be fine."
"Well then, go ahead," "Aken" said gently.
"Nami" asked curiously, "Did 'Sanji' agree? I thought you would try to stop me."
"Would it do any good to stop you?" "Aken" countered before taking a sip of his drink. He then said, "Nami, you belong to the sea. You are an adventurer at heart. Since you have a dream, go fulfill it."
"Mm."
Nami pursed her lips and smiled, "Thank you."
Aken asked again, "When do you plan to leave?"
Nami replied with a smile, "I'll be leaving in three days."
"Let's delay it a bit longer; there are still things I need your help with," Aken said with a grin.
Nami curiously asked, "What things?"
"You'll find out when the time comes," Aken said with a mysterious smile.
