Chapter 117: Encirclement
In the streets of Alabasta, in the city of Rapeseed Flower, a massive beast lay sprawled out, exuding an aura of wild dominance.
Most of the people around kept their distance, while a few gathered at the entrances, secretly observing.
Some were armed, their faces showing a hint of greed, but more were filled with fear.
Inside was Nico Robin, the infamous Demon Child with a bounty of one hundred million.
Killing her would yield that bounty, a tremendous temptation for them.
More importantly, Nico Robin was injured.
This stirred some into action.
Yet no one dared to make a move; even if one could devise a plan to kill Crocodile, his strength was formidable. Being injured didn’t guarantee that others could defeat him.
Then there was the massive beast, which was simply too large. In its approach, it had accidentally collided with a wall, causing it to collapse.
With a loud crash, countless soldiers appeared at one end of the street, armed with spears and shields, blocking one direction.
"Hmm?"
Xiaqiu stood up upon seeing the soldiers, gazing into the distance as he opened his mouth and let out a low growl.
"Fall back! Fall back!"
An officer stepped forward from among the soldiers and waved his hand, prompting all soldiers to retreat hastily.
Seeing this scene, Xiaqiu crouched down, and with his movement, the people around him visibly relaxed.
"It seems that as long as we don't pose a threat, he doesn't intend to attack. Let's not act rashly."
The officer observed this and ordered the soldiers to step back, preparing for any potential attack from Xiaqiu.
Xiaqiu continued to wait, his eyes fixed on the window of the adjacent room, where the shattered glass revealed Nico Robin receiving treatment.
Creak.
After a while, the sound of wheels rolling in the distance became audible, and artillery appeared, with a massive Cannon aimed directly at Xiaqiu.
"Hmm."
Xiaqiu's anger flared upon witnessing this; how dare they mobilize weapons against him?
He was tempted to charge in and kill them all, but Nico Robin was still inside. If he rushed out, other soldiers would surely come after him.
However, they did not open fire but remained there, waiting silently without any movement.
Bang.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, and a bullet shot towards Xiaqiu.
Thud.
The bullet failed to penetrate Xiaqiu's scales and fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
"How dare you attack me?"
Xiaqiu turned his head to look behind him, where a figure had put down their gun and was running off into the distance.
"Damn it, who is shooting? Artillery crew, prepare the Heart Behemoth to rampage."
The officer was furious at the gunfire but also feared the beast's wrath, which could destroy the entire block, forcing him to allow the Heart Behemoth to go wild.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from the adjacent room, followed by the sound of shattering glass.
"Nico Robin?"
Xiaqiu glanced out the window, worry etched on his face.
"Don't worry, I'm fine."
Nico Robin shouted loudly. Beside her lay two corpses; it seemed someone had attempted to sneak around and attack her.
These people!
Xiaqiu was filled with rage, wishing he could kill them all right then and there.
"Step aside!"
"Everyone, clear the street!"
Another squad arrived at the intersection, dispersing the gathered thugs and securing both ends of the entrance.
They did not launch an attack; they simply stood there, preventing anyone from getting close.
"You're quite perceptive."
Xiaqiu snorted lightly and continued to lie there.
However, at that moment, several figures suddenly appeared on the rooftop, armed with Molotov cocktails and handguns.
"Die!"
One of the figures on the wall suddenly opened fire and ignited a Molotov cocktail, throwing it downwards.
Crash.
The Molotov cocktail struck Xiaqiu, shattering and erupting into a blaze of flames.
Meanwhile, the figures on the wall continued to shoot.
They knew they were no match for Xiaqiu, but they were determined to keep this giant beast from attacking the building where Nico Robin was located.
At the same time, they hoped to provoke Xiaqiu; as long as Xiaqiu made a move, it would give the soldiers a chance to attack amidst the chaos.
"Those damn bastards."
In the distance, an officer's heart sank as he witnessed the scene unfold.
Thud! No!
But at that moment, a sudden scream pierced the air.
All the figures on the rooftop were pierced by sharp spikes, turning them into lifeless corpses.
A figure appeared on the rooftop, a tall woman holding a smoking pipe. She had fluffy blue hair and wore brown clothing, but her chest was exposed, covered only by a brown bra, with a brown belt wrapped around her abdomen.
"issdub1efinr."
She was a partner of Baroque Works' r1, responsible for managing the headquarters, the Spider Café.
The Senior Agent often lingered at the Spider Café, where Nico Robin would contact them to verify mission completions.
Clack, clack.
The figure descended from the rooftop, step by step, until she stood before Xiaqiu.
Xiaqiu glared at her intently. She was indeed r1's partner; although r1 often worked alone and she remained at the Spider Café, they rarely executed missions together.
But they were still partners.
"Don't worry. I went to Rapeseed Flower City to procure some items. Now that issa11sunday has arrived, I came specifically to help you."
Iss Dual Hands approached while speaking.
"Roar."
Xiaqiu shouted as she saw her getting closer.
She couldn't let her approach just yet; her abilities were too strange. The thorns that grew from her body could easily pierce through walls.
If she ambushed Nico Robin, the outcome would be disastrous.
"Okay, okay, I won't get close."
iss Dual Hands immediately came to a halt, leaning against the wall while taking a drag from his cigarette.
Xiaqiu continued to wait; as time passed, it seemed that Albanah had likely received the news, and Navy might have been notified as well.
Creak.
After more than an hour, Nico Robin pushed open the door and stepped out of the room, her hands and arms wrapped in bandages.
“iss Dual Hands?”
Nico Robin looked into the distance.
“issa11sunday.” Double Fingers nodded slightly at Nico Robin.
“Thank you for coming to help this time.”
After expressing her gratitude, Nico Robin climbed onto Xiaqiu's back and glanced at Double Fingers, unable to suppress a frown.
Having just killed r1, Nico Robin felt uneasy about Double Fingers, hesitant to let her get too close. However, she had assisted them, and there were many people around; if they didn’t take her away...
“Since everything is fine now, I’ll leave on my own.”
iss Dual Hands smiled and said, “We can chat when we have the chance.”
With that, iss Dual Hands walked up the wall and disappeared onto the rooftop.
“Let’s go.”
Nico Robin patted Xiaqiu on the head, and Xiaqiu immediately activated, heading toward the Coast.
"Scatter, quickly scatter."
The officer ordered the soldiers to disperse, no longer blocking the road.
Xiaqiu took Nico Robin further away, arriving at the coast. Just as they were about to enter the water, three warships suddenly appeared in the distance. Upon spotting Nico Robin, they immediately spread out, some veering off to try and block her escape from afar.
"Naval Battleships?"
Nico Robin's expression darkened as she saw the ships. Three naval battleships had surrounded them; as long as they could hold Xiaqiu back, escaping would be difficult.
With her on Xiaqiu's back, he couldn't enter the water, making it inconvenient for them to fight. They would only become targets.
What should I do?
"Xiaqiu, put me down. I'll sneak into their ranks while you escape underwater."
Nico Robin shouted loudly.
"Over there."
But Xiaqiu ignored her and charged toward the coast, finding Bingqi and stopping beside it.
"What is this?"
Seeing Xiaqiu's actions, Nico Robin immediately jumped onto Bingqi.

Xiaqiu then swam off into the distance, heading straight for the leftmost battleship.
"What is he planning to do?"

"Keep up with him."
But Nico Robin chose to trust him, controlling Bingqi to follow closely.
Three Naval Battleships, larger than the Branch Base Battleship in the East Sea, were comparable in size to the Battleship that Loguetown had attacked, but much smaller than the massive Battleship of the Vice Admiral.
In such a short time, the Vice Admiral wouldn't be able to arrive.
Thus, the highest rank among them would at most be a Major General. After consuming Daz Bonis and undergoing further enhancement, they were hardly a threat.
