Chapter 217: Caesar
Boom.
An explosion echoed, and a sound came from a distance.
"What happened?"
Caesar had just arrived at the laboratory and looked towards the horizon. "That seems to be in the direction of Monet. What’s going on over there?"
"Should we go check it out?"
He was somewhat puzzled and ordered his subordinates to investigate. However, the moment the door opened, a shadow flashed in front of Caesar, delivering a powerful punch.
Boom.
Caesar couldn’t evade in time and was sent flying, blood spewing from his mouth.
"That was fast, and it’s an Armament Haki user."
The opponent appeared before him in an instant, leaving him no time to react before being struck. The attack hit his physical form, as the opponent possessed Armament Haki.
As Caesar flew backward, he attempted to disperse into gas, but before he could stabilize himself, another strike came.
Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Caesar was bombarded by countless punches, unable to respond at all. Each blow struck his solid form, leaving him powerless to resist.
Thud.
Caesar was slammed against the wall, and then a punch struck his head, knocking him unconscious.
"That takes care of it."
After Caesar fell to the ground, the tall figure stopped moving and pulled off the mask from his face—it was Heckler.
His target was Caesar. He had prior knowledge of Caesar's abilities; he was a user of a gas Devil Fruit, capable of transforming into gas, making himself intangible.
So Heckler had prepared a mask in advance. Taking advantage of the moment when the door opened, he rushed in for a surprise attack, moving at an incredible speed that Caesar's reflexes couldn't possibly counter.
Combined with Armament Haki, Caesar was knocked out cold by Heckler.
At that moment, there was a loud bang, and the building trembled; the entire base shook.
"Must be Elken," Heckler said, glancing into the distance. He didn't take any action but instead dragged Caesar out of the room.
"Lord Caesar!"
Faced with Heckler taking away Caesar, his subordinates immediately charged forward, attacking Heckler.
Among these subordinates were several notorious pirates, each with varying levels of strength. They owed their lives to Caesar and regarded him as their benefactor. Many of them had been injured and healed by Law, which made them deeply grateful to both Law and Caesar.
In order to save Caesar, they spared no effort in their attacks.
Fists, long knives, and bullets all surged toward Heckler.
Boom.
Heckler's body instantly hardened, and the blows that landed on him caused no damage whatsoever.
"Shave."
Heckler vanished in an instant, reappearing among the crowd, and then his hands launched a series of strikes, "Endless Spear."
His hands transformed into a flurry of afterimages, stabbing out in rapid succession.
With each thrust, his arms felt lighter, moving faster, enhanced by Armament Haki, making his attacks unstoppable.
Thud, thud.
Under his onslaught, figures were pierced by Finger Gun, collapsing one after another.
Whoosh.
Heckler returned to his original position, grabbing Caesar and continuing forward.
After taking down more than a dozen opponents, Heckler heard the sound of explosions in the distance. He walked over and turned the corner to see a woman lying on the ground and Elken standing there.
"Are you done as well?"
Elken looked at Heckler, a hint of helplessness in his expression. "I thought I was the first."
"Let's go."
Heckler said lightly, "We should find Christmas. I wonder if he has taken the medicine."
"No need, I'm right here."
A voice rang out as the air parted to reveal Ro and Christmas stepping out from within.
"You two managed to take care of these two so quickly; your strength is impressive."
Ro glanced at the two figures on the ground, his expression turning serious. He had followed Christmas here and arrived just in time to see Elken take down Monet while Heckler brought Caesar along.
The time from the explosion until now had been extremely short, and their ability to defeat both opponents so swiftly was quite remarkable.
"I didn't expect the president of Baroque Works to come here personally," Ro said, looking at Heckler.
Heckler shook his head. "I'm not the president."
"Really?"
Ro frowned slightly. He had seen reports regarding this matter; Heckler was wanted as the president of Baroque Works. "Could it be that Ace is the president?"
"Not at all."
Heckler said, "Ace is a member; I'm just the president's attendant. As for the president, he's waiting for you at North Coast."
"Is that so?"
Law was somewhat surprised, not expecting that the government's two-year investigation had been wrong.
Heckler looked at Elken and asked, "Did you have Monet make the call?"
"It's already been made."
Elken replied with a smile, "She made the call before I defeated her, which is why it took me a bit longer to reach you."
"Monet made the call?"
Law furrowed his brows. "Then Doflamingo..."
"The reason for having her make the call was to get him to send someone here. If he comes, we won't have to go through all this trouble to kill him."
Heckler said calmly, "So now we just need to wait for the next person he sends here."
"I think I understand what you all are planning to do."
Law nodded and looked at the two people lying on the ground. "These two must be controlled."
"Are there any Seastone Handcuffs here?" Heckler asked.
"No need for that. I can just take their Heart," Law replied.
Law glanced at Caesar and Monet, then suddenly drew his sword, stabbing it into Caesar's Heart.
With a squelch, Law's blade pierced through Caesar's Heart, and he retracted it, sheathing his sword. With a flick of his wrist, Caesar's Heart appeared in Law's hand.
"Here you go."
Law handed Caesar's Heart to Heckler and continued, "Let's go to the monitoring room; we can see what's happening around us. Plus, when he wakes up, I need to know the whereabouts of my Heart."
Law walked off into the distance while Heckler passed the Heart to Christmas, who stowed it away and pulled out a Transponder Snail to report the situation.
"It's been completed as planned."
At Punk Hazard North Coast, Ace looked at Xiaqiu and said, "Law has agreed to cooperate. Caesar and Monet have been captured, and the message has been sent out. Doflamingo should send someone here; he might even come himself. Law doesn't plan to come looking for us right now. They asked if we should meet up with them."
"Not yet," Xiaqiu shook his head. "We need to avoid exposing our presence in case there are still spies around. Let's wait here and see who Doflamingo sends."
If they were exposed, Doflamingo likely wouldn't send anyone here, but right now, they were still quite far from him.
He needed his subordinates to increase his strength, so he could only strike them separately.
He still had to wait a bit; Doflamingo would not give up this place. At the very least, he would send a top Officer here.
Monet was an Officer of the Red Heart Army, and this location was not far from the G5 Branch Base. If nothing unexpected happened, it would likely be the highest Officer of the Red Heart Army, Virgo, who would arrive.
He was skilled in Haki, and combined with his powerful martial arts, he possessed a significant amount of Enhanced Energy.
After consuming him, he would be almost ready to face Doflamingo directly.
"Come on."
Xiaqiu was already feeling a bit impatient.
