Guosheng walked into the company as usual, and the employees greeted him one after another. Only one new intern quietly watched him pass by. 0

Over time, Guosheng could no longer hold back and approached the girl's desk. "You don't recognize me?" 0

"Of course I do," the girl replied, focused on her phone. 0

"Oh, who taught you that staring at your phone while talking to someone is a sign of respect?" Guosheng said half-jokingly. 0

"You're mistaken. I'm doing this to improve efficiency. Handling some unimportant tasks together helps boost productivity," she explained. 0

"Am I wasting your time here?" Guosheng asked, slightly annoyed. It was good for his employees to strive for efficiency, but being so dismissive was unacceptable. 0

The girl paused for a moment and looked at Guosheng. "If you want my honest opinion, then yes." 0

Guosheng finally lost his temper, but he didn't want to openly confront the girl. He left her desk and headed to the manager's office. 0

"Yes! Yes! Yes! So, should I fire her immediately?" The manager was sweating; he had just started work and was already summoned by the chairman due to an issue with one of his subordinates. 0

"No, don’t fire her. What work do you still have pending? Show me," Guosheng instructed. 0

The manager hurriedly pulled out two folders from the filing cabinet and handed them to Guosheng. 0

Guosheng skimmed through them quickly and pulled out one document, closing the folder afterward. 0

"Have her take care of this," Guosheng said bluntly. 0

"Chairman, this, while not the most difficult task, is certainly the trickiest. Lin Yan is still a newcomer, and her business connections aren't very deep yet. Although she's quite capable, I doubt she can handle this," the manager blurted out after reviewing the documents. 0

Guosheng fixed his gaze on him. "You think she's quite capable? This newcomer has strong abilities? Then she should be given this task." After saying that, he patted the manager on the shoulder and walked out of the office. 0

"Her work ability is indeed strong, but her interpersonal skills..." The manager slumped back onto the sofa. He had high hopes for this girl; if nothing went wrong, she could potentially rise to the leadership level in a short time, even making it into the decision-making circle. 0

However, her issues directly stifled that possibility. As things stood, it was unlikely she would see any position adjustments; any further changes would likely land her on the 'preliminary layoff list.' 0

... 0

Just when Guosheng was about to forget about it, a call from an old friend reminded him of Lin Yan. "Guo, that girl from your company is really impressive; she left the other party speechless." 0

"Which girl?" Guosheng asked, still trying to recall. 0

"The one sent over here to discuss the tripartite cooperation. At first, I thought she was a college student; she's just so young." 0

Guosheng remembered now—Lin Yan, the girl who he had inadvertently delayed in her work. 0

"Oh? Did you reach an agreement?" 0

"Ah, my friend, if I had known you didn't value her, I would have quietly poached her myself. You should ask your manager for specifics; I'm just reminding you—don't let go of employees like her." 0

"Is that so? Thanks for the heads-up. Let me treat you to a drink." 0

"Alright! I’ll remember you, so don’t try to deny it later." 0

After hanging up the phone, Guosheng headed straight to the marketing department. He didn’t make a grand entrance; instead, he quietly walked into the manager's office. 0

"I heard that previous task is completed," Guosheng said as he sat down on the sofa, waiting for the manager's response. 0

The manager, upon seeing the chairman arrive, hurriedly closed the Venetian blinds and grabbed a report from his desk. 0

"It seems you’re all prepared and just waiting for me to show up," Guosheng smiled at the manager. "I’m not trying to make things difficult for her. Her work ability is decent, but she has major interpersonal issues. Here’s what you should do: take good care of her and let her gain some experience. If she gets promoted later, you’ll benefit too," Guosheng said after reviewing the work report. 0

"Yes," the manager replied, flattering him while secretly thinking: I haven’t moved from this position in years. But then again, moving up means becoming the marketing director or manager. If I can take advantage of this opportunity to advance, that would be truly desirable. 0

"Alright then, besides your basic tasks, I’ll also assign some special projects for you to handle. Work hard," Guosheng said happily as he left the manager's office. This time he had indeed found a gem; although not perfect, it was still a 'gem' meant to be polished. 0

... 0

"After that, I assigned them some very challenging tasks. During that period, her work abilities received widespread recognition and praise. I had high hopes for her. Eventually, even though she still held the position of Salesperson, her reputation surpassed that of most Sales Managers and Project Managers. The upper management of the company basically knew who she was," Guosheng recounted calmly, as if this story had nothing to do with him. 0

"Then why..." Chen Rui began to ask a question during Guosheng's pause but was silenced by a gesture from Guosheng. "Just keep listening." 0

"Until that time." 0

“Dad, I brought your daughter-in-law back,” Guo Luxing boldly strode into the conference room. 0

Inside, a routine board meeting was underway, but the directors were unfazed. First, Guo Luxing was indeed talented; the company's success was largely due to his contributions. Second, the shares held by him and his father combined outweighed those of all the directors put together. They certainly weren't idle enough to concern themselves with such matters. 0

Guo Luxing led Lin Yan into the room and, upon seeing everyone still in session, chuckled, “Oh, why are you still meeting? Shouldn’t this be over by now?” 0

“It’s not like you’ve been here,” Guosheng remarked, a sense of unease creeping in. His son had always been a notorious flirt, and he found it hard to believe that he had actually brought home a daughter-in-law. 0

As he looked at Lin Yan, a flurry of thoughts raced through Guosheng's mind. Ultimately, he forced himself to dismiss those suspicions and addressed Guo Luxing sternly, “No dating in the company.” 0

“Hmm? We’ll register right away,” Guo Luxing shamelessly replied. “We’ll have the wedding later.” 0

“Nonsense!” Guosheng’s subtle warning seemed to fly over Guo Luxing’s head, leaving him even more puzzled. “When did this kid become so infatuated?” 0

“Then I’ll resign from my position as director. Would that be acceptable?” 0

Guosheng hadn’t anticipated that a half-joking comment would elicit such a serious response. 0

“That won’t do; this isn’t a joke.” Before Guosheng could say more, the man sitting at the front of the right row stood up to object. 0

“Dad~ come on, give us a smile,” Guo Luxing said to Lin Yan with a grin. “She usually doesn’t smile. Come on~ give us a smile.” 0

Lin Yan smiled lightly, and that one smile stunned everyone present except for Guo Luxing. 0

A sly smile was evident on his face, a clear expression of triumph. 0

"Well, good girl," Guo Luxing said as he kissed Lin Yan. The corners of Lin Yan's mouth lifted slightly, clearly pleased, revealing a faint smile. 0

"You..." Guosheng was so enraged that he couldn't find the words. He believed that this vixen must have used some trick to ensnare his useless son, and now she had the audacity to come and intimidate him? 0

"Then it's settled. Let's go register," Guo Luxing said as he took Lin Yan's arm, preparing to leave. 0

"Stop right there. If you dare to marry her, don't bother coming home," Guosheng attempted to salvage the father-son relationship with a stern warning. 0

But the reality was quite the opposite. "I'm sorry, there are too many homes and too many doors; I don't even know which one to enter anymore. If I can't enter any of them, then so be it," Guo Luxing replied coldly to Guosheng, his tone completely changed. 0

"Fine! Then don't come home!" 0

Guosheng slammed his hand on the table in frustration while Chen Rui casually wrapped his arm around Lin Yan and walked out, leaving behind the stunned board members and an enraged Guosheng. 0

... 0

"This is how it is. I never expected that girl to have such deep schemes. Honestly, if it were up to me, she would eventually enter the gates of the country," Guosheng said with a hint of sorrow on his face. 0

"I believe there might be a misunderstanding here. Based on your perspective and my interactions with this customer, I find it hard to believe that this girl, who has serious social issues, could possess such deep cunning; it simply doesn't add up," Chen Rui pondered, trying to unravel the situation. 0

"Indeed, I've considered this issue as well. If someone were truly that scheming, their social skills would have to be quite impressive; however, that girl's social life is a complete mess. In the end, I can only think of one possibility." 0

"You." 0

"It was all planned from the beginning. That girl was playing a role according to her own script; it's not that she has poor social skills, but rather that she is acting this way. That's the only way I can think of it." 0

"I don't think so. How can she be so sure that Guo Luxing loves her that deeply? She can't guarantee that this isn't the case," Chen Rui pointed out the flaw. 0

"I don't know what kind of person she really is, but I can assure you that her nature isn't bad," Liang Yu said as he walked over from the window, tapping a few times on his phone. "This is what Xiong Kai just sent me." 0

A video began to play on the phone. It featured two people; although the filming distance was far, the audio was particularly clear, likely because there were listening devices nearby. 0

"Let's get married; I don't want to wait anymore," the boy said, holding the girl's hand. 0

"What about your dad? I feel like he would actually do something after saying that; we can't take that risk," the girl softly rejected. 0

The boy stepped in front of her, facing her directly. "I don't care about him; I only care about you." 0

The girl paused for a moment before a loud slap echoed through the air, leaving a large red handprint on the boy's left cheek. "He is your dad! He is your father!" With that, she turned and walked into the bedroom, leaving the boy alone in the living room. 0

"Isn't this just someone you hired to act? How can I believe you aren't connected to that woman?" Guosheng sneered. 0

Chen Rui couldn't help but facepalm. "Your imagination is too wild; I can't keep up with it. I can clearly recognize them, yet you still doubt." 0

"Our people are professionals; they haven't been followed so far, so none of this is an act," Liang Yu coldly replied to Guosheng. "I have no obligation to explain everything to you. For us, we just need those two to get married. You weren't originally within our scope of concern, so we could actually..." 0

"Enough. Mr. Guosheng, I sincerely apologize for my assistant's unreasonable remarks. Please forgive us," Chen Rui said with an apologetic smile. 0

"No need to apologize. I am aware of your capabilities; you can mobilize real police cars, real uniforms, and real official seals, so I understand what you are capable of." 0

Chen Rui felt a cold sweat break out on his back. How did Guosheng know about these matters? 0

"Your capabilities are impressive as well, to have such clear insight." 0

"Chen Rui? Chen Rui! Listen to what I'm saying. I'm not going to call you directly; I'll say it here instead. The observer Lin Yan is currently missing, and Guo Luxing is still unaware. They've already split into two teams to search for her. You need to respond immediately when you see this; I sense something is wrong. In any case, come back first; all the team leaders are waiting." 0

Xiong Kai's voice came through from the end of the video call, accompanied by sounds of hurried movement in the background, and his tone was urgent. 0

"Running away from home is a girl's shortcoming; girls are often sincere and kind..." Chen Rui left this remark before stepping out of the hospital room. 0

Guosheng fell silent. 0
