Chen Rui left four members of the Lu Jie Group downstairs to keep watch while the rest of the team re-entered the building. 0

Due to the thick smoke, Chen Rui and his group dared not take the elevator. Although they had not seen any flames, it would be troublesome if there really was a fire. 0

Climbing stairs was always a painful task, especially now with the building filled with smoke, making any forward movement seem like a distant hope. 0

After a difficult ascent, they finally reached the eleventh floor. Chen Rui instructed Peng Hao to lead the others down to the first floor where the office was located while he went to investigate the situation regarding the fire. 0

The fire sprinklers drenched Chen Rui's clothes, and he naturally took off his jacket to cover his nose and mouth. 0

Visibility on the eleventh floor was extremely low due to the black smoke, leaving Chen Rui nearly blind. 0

He hesitated to touch the walls or anything else; if there was indeed a fire, hidden flames could pose a serious danger. 0

Suddenly, he kicked something. Based on his strength, it seemed small and light. Wrapping his jacket around his hand, he picked it up and finally saw what it was. 0

Meanwhile, Peng Hao and his team quickly reached the first floor. As they approached from the nineteenth floor, they heard gunfire. 0

"Stay alert and prepare for combat," Peng Hao said as he disengaged the safety on his rifle and rushed up to the first floor. 0

Upon entering, Peng Hao realized he had arrived too late. Instead of an expected shootout, he found only a group of girls sprawled on the ground in disarray. 0

He hurried forward and found Ye Han. "What happened? Are you okay?" he asked. 0

Ye Han shook her head and regained her composure. "I'm fine." 0

"What happened? I heard gunshots just now. Was there an attack here?" Peng Hao inquired. 0

"Well, you all rushed in shortly after you left. We didn't even have time to lock the door. They threw in stun grenades and flashbangs all at once," Ye Han recalled groggily, the effects of the stun grenade still lingering. 0

"What was that gunfire about?" Peng Hao asked, confused. If they had already taken control, why were they still shooting? 0

"It seems like someone’s gun went off accidentally," Ye Han tried to clear his mind. "Right, they kidnapped someone. But I couldn't see who it was." The lingering dizziness and pain in Ye Han's head made it hard to think clearly about even such a simple matter. 0

Peng Hao immediately realized that Yuki Chiba was likely taken away and quickly communicated through the radio with Lujie, "The kidnappers have taken Yuki Chiba. Don't confront them directly; find a way to buy some time." 0

"Understood!" Lujie replied. 0

The others continued to enter the office, helping the disoriented girls back on their feet. 0

Chen Rui arrived as well, surveying the chaotic scene and frowned. "What happened? What's going on?" 0

Peng Hao stepped forward to explain, "Yuki Chiba has been taken. I've instructed Lujie to stall for time. The kidnappers probably used the elevator to escape, and the smoke earlier was likely a diversion. However, it's still unclear how they bypassed the alarm system." 0

In this building, the alarm would only trigger if both high temperatures and smoke were detected within a certain timeframe. Hacking into the building's Control System would undoubtedly expose their methods. That's why Peng Hao asked. 0

Chen Rui raised what he was holding. "They were clever; they used this to fool the alarm." In Chen Rui's hand was a type of burning stick, clearly already spent, but it had generated enough heat during combustion to alert the alarm. 0

"So what do we do now?" Peng Hao asked. "A reckless assault could put Yuki Chiba in danger." 0

"Therefore, we need to give them a glimmer of hope or an idea that they can escape," Chen Rui said with a smile. Peng Hao noticed that this time Chen Rui's smile was quite eerie—a cold smirk that had never appeared on Chen Rui's face before. 0

"Lujie, have you held them off?" Chen Rui asked. 0

Lujie awkwardly replied, "Sorry, they forced their way through the gate and got away. However, I sent someone after them; he's in hot pursuit." 0

"Good," Chen Rui said, looking at everyone present with a smile. "All combat-capable personnel, get in the vehicle." His cold smile sent shivers down everyone's spines. 0

Chen Rui turned and walked away, entering the elevator alone. He glanced back at those still frozen in place and asked, "Aren't you coming?" With that, he closed the elevator doors behind him and descended alone. 0

"Damn it!" Peng Hao cursed under his breath, but his legs moved faster. 0

If anyone had been watching the surveillance footage, they would have seen a group of armed personnel rushing down the stairs in a frenzy. 0

Chen Rui arrived at the underground parking lot where Lujie had already parked a black Chevrolet in front of him. 0

"The GPS has locked onto Yuki Chiba's vehicle," Lujie reported. 0

Chen Rui nodded and without hesitation got in the car, leaving the door wide open. He slammed on the accelerator, the immense force pushing him back into his seat while simultaneously shutting the door, leaving only a brief alarm sound and the grumbling of his crew behind. 0

As Chen Rui checked the GPS, he noted that the target was 7 kilometers away and that the distance was increasing. 0

"Do you really like driving fast this much?" Chen Rui smirked slightly. "Let me see what you've got." 0

After arriving at the parking lot, Peng Hao jumped into the Audi prepared by Lujie without waiting for anyone else and floored it out of there. 0

Lujie stood awkwardly in place. "That car only seats four... Why does everyone have to be so reckless..." 0

As Chen Rui sped down the street, he suddenly noticed an Audi tailing him. Just as he was about to slam on the brakes to let the Audi crash into his rear, he heard the sound of its horn blaring. 0

Through the rearview mirror, Chen Rui caught sight of Peng Hao's smiling face. He honked the horn twice to signal him to keep up before accelerating again. 0

"Damn it, this idiot wants to speed up... isn't he afraid of crashing into something?" Peng Hao cursed. 0

"Do you enjoy cursing people on the public channel?" Chen Rui's voice came through the intercom, tinged with a hint of grievance. 0

"Ah! I can't believe I forgot to turn off the intercom," Peng Hao said. "What a blunder." 0

"I can't be bothered with you," Chen Rui replied, and after that, there was silence. 0

That single remark left Peng Hao feeling flattered! Under normal circumstances, it would be Chen Rui, that brat, threatening him with wages or bonuses, and all he would need to do was plead a little for everything to be negotiable. But this time, the response truly surprised him. Remembering Chen Rui's previous cold smile, Peng Hao realized that Chen Rui seemed particularly concerned about Yuki Chiba. 0

Chen Rui's vehicle was quite tall, forcing Peng Hao to follow the route that Chen Rui had taken, leaving him in a very passive position. 0

However, because of this, they quickly caught up with the robbers' vehicle. Spotting the Chevrolet ahead, Chen Rui honked twice, and the Chevrolet immediately yielded the lane for him to pass. Unlike before when he had opted for a following strategy, upon seeing the Land Rover carrying Yuki Chiba, he slammed on the gas and crashed directly into the back of the Land Rover. The force from his high-speed vehicle nearly caused the Land Rover to tip over, but the driver handled it skillfully and managed to regain control shortly after, even accelerating slightly. 0

Seeing that a frontal collision had little effect, Chen Rui aimed for the right side of the Land Rover and accelerated once more. 0

This time, the Land Rover lost control entirely, flipping onto its side and sliding along the highway for a distance. 0

Chen Rui hurriedly slammed on the brakes; just as he unbuckled his seatbelt, a sudden force pushed him forward against the steering wheel. 0

Peng Hao was closely tailing behind; noticing that Chen Rui had accelerated, he pressed down on his own gas pedal. However, when he suddenly saw Chen Rui brake hard, he managed to hit his brakes too late due to inertia and crashed into Chen Rui's Chevrolet. 0

"Are you okay? Are you okay?" Chen Rui asked groggily as he was helped out of the driver's seat. Upon seeing it was Peng Hao, he quickly inquired, "How long has it been?" 0

"What... how long has it been?" 0

"How long have I been unconscious?" Chen Rui grabbed Peng Hao by the collar, his eyes wide as he asked. 0

"Just a few dozen seconds," Peng Hao replied, pulling Chen Rui's hand away and adjusting his collar in annoyance. "You didn't faint; this is a normal reaction after a violent impact. Also, you've got a head injury! Hey! You've got a head injury!" 0

Realizing what he meant, Chen Rui hurriedly stood up and ran toward the Land Rover, using all his strength to climb to the empty side of the car. He opened the door and looked inside—no one was there. 0

Chen Rui slumped into the car, staring blankly at the bustling street, trying to find that figure. 0

Suddenly, he smiled. He hadn't found that figure, but he had discovered another surprise—a signpost. 0

Chen Rui entered the subway station, carefully searching every person's face in an attempt to spot that girl. 0

Peng Hao followed behind, panting as he placed a hand on Chen Rui's shoulder. "Slow down." 0

Chen Rui shrugged off Peng Hao's hand. "Don't bother me." 0

Peng Hao said with a hint of despair, "If they are here now, they definitely can't draw too much attention. So they wouldn't have tied up Yuki Chiba; that would be too obvious. Therefore..." 0

"So I just need to shout loudly to get Yuki Chiba's attention!" Chen Rui suddenly realized. "But doing that would be too dangerous for Yuki Chiba. What if they..." 0

"They won't!" Peng Hao said firmly, looking straight at Chen Rui. "Since they brought Yuki Chiba here, it means they won't tear up the ticket because this place is too conspicuous. Their insistence on bringing her here shows just how important she is." 0

"Yuki Chiba! Yuki Chiba!" Shouting her name in public was bound to attract attention. The moment Chen Rui opened his mouth, he felt countless gazes turn toward him, but he gritted his teeth and continued to call out. 0

Suddenly, Chen Rui saw a familiar figure, but was quickly pulled away by two people. 0

Chen Rui hurriedly thought of that direction and rushed over, the familiar silhouette flickering in and out of the crowd. 0

He quickened his pace, forcefully pushing through the throngs of people, heading towards that figure. 0

"Passengers heading to MGM, please pay attention. The train is about to arrive." 0

By the time the announcement ended, the subway had already begun to let passengers on and off, and that figure was gradually moving towards it. 0

Chen Rui struggled forward and finally grasped her hand at the train doors. 0

"The doors are about to close. Please mind your safety." 0

Just as the doors began to shut, the kidnapper who had been facing away from Chen Rui finally released his grip. 0

It seemed they truly cared about her life, Chen Rui thought. 0

He immediately pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly, tightly. 0

She rested her head against his chest, gently closing her eyes, appearing very calm. As both of them were lost in the moment, a slight smile appeared at the corners of her mouth. 0
