Chen Rui dried the droplets of water on his head with a towel. When he stepped outside, he saw that Li Xue was still sound asleep, and a smile involuntarily crept onto his face.
"Xue, Xue, wake up! It's snowing!" Chen Rui gently patted Li Xue's shoulder, gesturing towards the window as he made up a story.
"Huh? Where?" Li Xue suddenly sat up, groggily looking out the window.
"You'll see it if you lean against the window," Chen Rui said, struggling to hold back his laughter.
"Huh?" Li Xue still didn't quite understand. She sleepily got out of bed and shuffled to the window, but after looking for a while, she couldn't find Chen Rui's "snow."
Chen Rui grabbed the collar of Li Xue's pajamas and dragged her to the bathroom. "Hurry up! It's already past ten-thirty. It’s not even winter yet; where would the snow come from?" he laughed.
"Ahhh! You're lying! You big liar!" Li Xue swung her small fists at Chen Rui.
"It's your fault for sleeping in so late," Chen Rui pointed to his watch. "It's already ten-thirty. If you don't get up now, you'll miss lunch."
"That would be great! Saving a meal means saving money," Li Xue pouted in dissatisfaction. She slowly picked up her toothbrush and cup, moving at a snail's pace, clearly expressing her reluctance to get moving.
Chen Rui was left speechless by Li Xue's comment. Skipping a meal would indeed save her some money, but would she really care about that in reality? Especially since this was all happening in a dream.
"It's your fault I woke up so late," Li Xue mumbled, trying her best not to let the bubbles in her mouth spill out, looking quite comical.
"Hey, what did I do?" Chen Rui protested innocently.
"You were too ruthless last night," Li Xue said as she blew out the bubbles from her mouth with a mischievous grin.
"Don't say things that can be misunderstood! Smart people will jump to conclusions!" Chen Rui felt overwhelmed by the girl in front of him; he truly didn't know how to respond.
"What’s wrong? Isn’t it the truth?" Li Xue teased.
Chen Rui couldn't help but recall the events of the previous night. After midnight, he had wanted Li Xue to return to her room to rest, but she was reluctant. So, he had forcibly taken her back.
Chen Rui said nothing, quietly watching as Li Xue groomed herself. When she caught sight of his mesmerized gaze, she couldn't help but smile lightly.
Chen Rui smiled back. "You look really beautiful."
Li Xue flicked her still-wet hands at him, splashing droplets of water onto his face and into his eyes, causing him to hurriedly rub them.
"That's what you get for staring at me so intently," Li Xue teased.
"Okay, okay, my bad." Chen Rui, slightly annoyed, pushed open the glass door of the bathroom. The floral-patterned glass door effectively blocked their view of each other.
Soon enough, Li Xue emerged from the bathroom, droplets still falling from her long hair. Seeing her like this made Chen Rui smile; how much did this girl not want to part from him?
Watching the flustered Li Xue, Chen Rui chuckled and took a towel from the wardrobe, gently drying her hair.
As he helped her with her hair, Li Xue stared intently into his eyes. Slowly, the faint spark in her gaze grew brighter.
Chen Rui was oblivious to Li Xue's unusual demeanor. After drying her hair, he stepped into the bathroom and grabbed a hairdryer, using a medium setting to dry her waist-length hair.
"You should take good care of such beautiful hair. You just rinsed it off casually earlier, right?" Chen Rui asked absentmindedly. "Look how lovely your hair is."
"Mm." Li Xue nodded slightly, quietly enjoying Chen Rui's thoughtful care.
"Just don't fall for me, okay? There are too many people who want to get close to me; we could form a Reinforced Squad with them all," Chen Rui joked when he saw that Li Xue didn't react.
"Oh? Then I want to be the squad leader!" Li Xue replied with a statement that left Chen Rui stunned.
Chen Rui shook his head with a bitter smile. "Our thoughts aren't in the same space." He wondered to himself how this girl always managed to say such astonishing things.
"It's okay, even if I have to cross eleven dimensions, I'll find you," Li Xue said with a smile.
"No need to push it so hard. I'm right here in three dimensions, just behind you, very close," Chen Rui could only respond in Li Xue's way of thinking; otherwise, he would be led astray into another topic without realizing it.
"But I can't see you," Li Xue's words suddenly carried a strong sense of sadness, making even Chen Rui shiver slightly.
"It's fine. Even if you can't see me, I'm always here," Chen Rui finally decided to say after much inner turmoil.
He wasn't sure if this was truly good for her. While it might provide her with temporary psychological relief, it would only lead her deeper into confusion.
In the end, she might really come to see Chen Rui as Chen Zijing, and yet they were two similar but different people. Li Xue, who loved Chen Zijing, would have to bear the differences between Chen Rui and Chen Zijing.
This was a painful situation, and Chen Rui believed it wholeheartedly.
"Enough of this talk; shall we go?" Li Xue urged.
"Yeah, why are you the one in a hurry now?" Chen Rui laughed as he put the hairdryer back in place and followed Li Xue out of the guest room.
It wasn't far from the building where Chen Rui's team was located, so at Li Xue's strong insistence, they walked there.
Even in the daylight, Las Vegas Boulevard was bustling with tourists. Li Xue naturally linked her arm with Chen Rui's and walked closely beside him, as intimate as lovers in the throes of romance.
Chen Rui thought about asking her to let go, but seeing the blissful expression on Li Xue's face made him hesitate to shatter her beautiful dream.
"Is this really okay?" Chen Rui asked himself but could never find an answer.
"Actually, I know that you're not Zijing, so you don't need to worry about anything," Li Xue suddenly said, her words striking right at Chen Rui's thoughts.
"I... you..." Chen Rui was momentarily at a loss for words. He had initially planned to help Li Xue come to terms with this fact and then comfort her gradually. But now, it seemed everything had turned upside down, and it was Li Xue who was soothing his restless heart.
Seeing Chen Rui in this state, Li Xue couldn't help but smile and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"I just need you—watching you, following you, listening to you makes me very content. So, you really don’t need to worry about me."
"Um, well, thank you." Chen Rui could only think of these words. He wasn't a master of eloquence and couldn't come up with any grand romantic declarations or insincere flattery, so he could only respond in such a plain manner.
Happy moments always pass quickly. Even while walking, they soon arrived at the entrance of the building.
"Let go; we don't want to give people the wrong idea," Chen Rui said with an awkward smile. For some reason, his romantic rumors were quite popular throughout the company. Whether among superiors, subordinates, or peers, everyone seemed to know something about Chen Rui.
Thus, he really didn't dare to have any intimate contact with girls anymore. Even with his assistant Liang Yu, Chen Rui maintained a certain distance. "As the squad leader, I should set an example and manage my other concubines properly. Don't tell me you're not preparing any backup plans; isn't that what most men do?"
"Most men wouldn't be pursued by someone from a Reinforced Squad," Chen Rui said as he rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
"That's because you're so outstanding! Forget just one from the Reinforced Squad; even someone from a Combined Company might be interested," Li Xue teased as she dashed into the building, leaving Chen Rui standing outside in shock.
"Chen Zijing, my brother! Come teach me how to handle this Demoness! I can't take it anymore!" Chen Rui mocked himself as he hurried after Li Xue.
Returning to the office, the equipment had already been resent, the price being the scolding that Chen Rui received. The efficiency of the FBI was indeed impressive.
As soon as he entered the office, he noticed that Chen Rui and Li Xue had disappeared together. All eyes were on Chen Rui, most of whom wore expressions that conveyed a shared understanding, smiling knowingly.
"What are you thinking about?" Chen Rui shot a glare at everyone and proudly declared, "This lady here is Li Xue, someone from the opposing faction in the dream world. After much effort, I finally uncovered her true identity."
"That's so rude," Li Xue said, pinching Chen Rui's waist. "I came here on my own; it has nothing to do with that fool."
"How does it have nothing to do with me?" Chen Rui winced in pain. "If I hadn't seen through your tricks, who knows when you would have sneaked back."
"Pfft, even if you sent me back, I wouldn't go. I've already finished my business; now I just need to do what I want." With that, Li Xue tightly wrapped her arm around Chen Rui's.
"Wow, boss, what have you done?"
"Chen Rui, you beast! You've wasted such a precious resource!"
"Isn't your harem big enough already?"
Seeing Li Xue's reaction, all the male colleagues rose up in protest, their dissatisfaction with Chen Rui erupting instantly.
"Hey, what's wrong with me?" Chen Rui was quite displeased with his colleagues who prioritized romance over friendship. Although he knew they were joking, he was resistant to this kind of humor.
Then Li Xue made a shocking statement that stunned everyone: "He told me that there’s a Reinforced Squad of girls who would throw themselves at him. So I want to be a squad leader and expand into a company! I am his first lady!"
Silence…
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Chen Rui, you're amazing!"
"Truly the boss, so charming. What a pity for those single boys."
Even Ye Han smiled and asked, "Why not introduce us to her?"
Peng Hao, who understood Chen Rui better, patted his shoulder and teased, "It's like a bull crying over a cow."
Faced with the completely chaotic office, Chen Rui sighed helplessly and turned to look at Li Xue, just as their eyes met.
Chen Rui said helplessly, "I was just joking. Didn't you know that?"
"I know!" Li Xue replied with a smug smile. "If I act like this, no one will dare to compete with me. It's beneficial for both of us, isn't it?"
Chen Rui forced a smile: Yes, it seemed that everyone in the Recording Team, except for Xiong Kai, had entered a state of madness. This joke would spread throughout the company within four hours, and soon enough, Chen Rui's name would be known by all.

I was truly on the verge of breaking down while writing this. I had just created a new document, and when I finished writing and closed it, my hand trembled and I clicked 'no' by mistake.
I could cry without tears!!!! Really!!!!!
It took me over forty minutes to roughly recreate this chapter. Due to time constraints, it might not be as good as the original. Please understand that the original has already been lost.
