The Ferris Wheel was quite old, so it wasn't very large. Eighteen cabins moved slowly up and down. Ah! Mine is going up and down, thinking about the past while facing the wall!
"It's so slow." Looking at the slowly moving line ahead, Li Xue slightly lowered her head, her tone tinged with a hint of disappointment.
"What can we do? It's so popular here. Look, it's moving forward again; it's actually pretty fast," Chen Rui comforted her with a smile. The cabins of this Ferris Wheel were few and not very high. Although it rotated slowly, a complete turn only took about ten minutes, which was much faster than those giant Ferris Wheels around the world.
Moreover, since this Ferris Wheel sold cabin tickets, the number of people in each cabin varied. It rarely reached full capacity, mostly consisting of young couples riding together, which made it seem even slower.
Finally, just as Li Xue's mood was about to drop to freezing point, the two finally boarded the Ferris Wheel. The staff smiled at them and said, "Have fun!" before closing the cabin door.
"It's really old," Li Xue instantly transformed back into her cheerful self, joking about the age of the Ferris Wheel's equipment.
Chen Rui sat across from Li Xue, watching her smile light up her face. Suddenly, he felt the world quiet down. He playfully hooked his finger under Li Xue's chin and grinned mischievously, "Now you can't escape, hurry up and surrender to me."
Li Xue stuck out her tongue, quickly turned her head away, and playfully bit Chen Rui's index finger.
"Ah—hey! Be gentle!" Chen Rui looked at his right index finger in disbelief. He blew on it vigorously; there was a noticeable row of crescent-shaped marks on the second joint from where she had bitten him so hard that it had broken the skin, with a hint of blood seeping out. He didn't dare touch it and could only try to alleviate the pain by blowing on it.
Seeing Chen Rui sweating from the pain, Li Xue felt a bit guilty but noticed he was looking at her. She tilted her head and smiled mischievously, "That's what you get for being naughty. Do you want to try again?"
Chen Rui forced a smile, ignoring the trap she had set and continued to blow on his finger.
Watching Chen Rui's reaction made Li Xue unable to contain her amusement any longer. She grabbed his right hand and put his index finger in her mouth.
Chen Rui was taken aback by this sudden action. Looking at Li Xue's eyes filled with playful intent made it difficult for him to pull his hand away. Moreover, he thought that insisting on doing so might lead to another injury for his already tragic index finger.
The sensation on his index finger was incredibly sensitive, and Li Xue's tongue was clearly moving lightly over his finger. It was evident that she was afraid of hurting herself again. Chen Rui couldn't help but laugh; this girl was truly innocent, even when she was right in front of him.
Li Xue wrapped Chen Rui's finger in a piece of tissue, as if returning a borrowed item, and handed it back to him.
"Is my blood delicious?" Chen Rui teased with a smile.
Li Xue, who had been perfectly fine until then, immediately flushed at his words. Under the glow of the lights, her face looked particularly alluring.
"Saliva can stop bleeding and disinfect. Don't you know that? You're old enough," Li Xue shot him a glare, hastily finding an excuse for her embarrassment.
Chen Rui laughed heartily. Yes, he thought, at this age, how could she not know that while saliva can disinfect, it also contains bacteria?
Of course, such comments should not disturb the ambiguous atmosphere. Chen Rui cleared his throat twice and gazed out at the night sky. "I see you as a vampire; when the sun sets, your true form reveals itself. At least wait until I've gotten fat and plump before you feast on me. Look at me now—I'm thin and dark. Am I tasty?"
Li Xue wrinkled her nose and suddenly lunged at Chen Rui, burying her head into his neck as if she were a vampire ready to feast.
Chen Rui felt the warmth on his neck; it was clear that Li Xue was deliberately breathing hot air against him. However, he had indeed been startled earlier; she had aimed perfectly at his carotid artery. If she bit down hard enough to break the artery, he would truly become her meal.
"Wow, wow, wow... help!" Chen Rui began frantically banging on the window. Due to its age, he didn't dare hit too hard, so it all felt rather unconvincing.
Li Xue laughed as she sat back down across from him, arms crossed and legs crossed in a domineering queen-like manner. "Hmph! Today I shall induct you into the blood clan; shouldn't you be grateful?"
Chen Rui stopped his antics and tried to sneak a glance at the queen but ended up locking eyes with her instead. Their gazes collided like sparks ready to explode.
After a long moment, Chen Rui couldn't hold back any longer and started to chuckle softly. It quickly escalated into loud laughter that soon turned into silly giggles, until he was laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
Li Xue had already settled into her seat, her laughter turning into a light cough.
"What are you laughing at?" Chen Rui asked, catching his breath.
Li Xue quickly composed herself, adjusting Liu Hai, and a slight smile appeared on her lips. "What are you laughing at?"
"I laugh at your foolishness," Chen Rui replied bluntly. "Foolish in a silly way, foolish in an adorable way, foolish... to the point of being heart-wrenching." The last four words came out in a low murmur, as if his emotions had sunk back into a valley.
The Queen paid no mind to his tone, pointing at Chen Rui and laughing loudly. "I laugh at your stupidity; you're like a well—just a simple well. Everything about you is foolish, so foolish it makes people want to laugh, so foolish it makes people angry, so foolish it makes people... nostalgic."
Chen Rui didn't catch the last two words clearly, but he could guess from the redness around the Queen's eyes what she meant. He offered her a faint smile in response.
Seeing this, the Queen froze for a moment. That familiar smile felt so strange now, yet the warmth it brought remained unchanged.
In the blink of an eye, the carriage reached its highest point. Looking out at the brightly lit Pedestrian Street, the pitch-black ocean, and the pairs of young couples or elderly couples on the docks and beaches, Li Xue's eyes reflected it all. The corners of her mouth turned down slightly, revealing her longing for them.
Chen Rui sighed. After a great internal struggle, he sat beside Li Xue and teased her deliberately. "What's wrong? Jealous? I'm so handsome; how can you be jealous of others? Shouldn't it be others who are jealous of you?"
Li Xue was amused by Chen Rui's words and playfully scolded him. "How shameless! Being dark-skinned is one thing, but being this ugly? You're as skinny as a stick; I wonder when a gust of wind will blow you away."
"Being blown away would be great! Who knows where I might end up? It would be exciting," Chen Rui said, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. These words weren't truly his intention, but given the situation, he had to take the initiative.
Li Xue fell for it and pouted. "Hmph! I'm sorry for you; my yard is big enough that a tornado wouldn't blow you away. Even if one did come, you wouldn't need to leave."
The Ferris Wheel brought them to the highest point. Both fell silent as their bodies slowly leaned toward each other...
“Ah, why is it so slow…” The boy in the hoodie glanced at the line ahead, forced a smile, and turned to the girl behind him wearing a baseball cap. He asked cautiously, “Dearing! There are too many people. Should we come back another day?”
The girl in the baseball cap raised her hand as if to hit the boy, her brows furrowed in annoyance. “Why don’t you just say you don’t want to sit? Yes, yes, yes! You have plenty of opportunities to come to America, but when do you have personal time? When are you free? Stop making excuses.”
The boy was clearly hit where it hurt and helplessly replied, “Can I be blamed for this? I can’t help it.”
“Then just wait patiently. Don’t back out now and make me…” The girl’s voice grew louder towards the end, suddenly increasing in volume. “Don’t turn around.” At the same time, she pulled down the brim of her cap.
A man and a woman walked past them, both smiling. The man looked to be in his thirties, with a strong build and chiseled features that made him quite the heartthrob. The girl appeared to be around twenty, or even younger, with a delicate face and long hair cascading down her back, showcasing her charm.
At first glance, one might think they were a father and daughter due to their age difference. However, upon closer inspection, it was clear they could not possibly be related; they were lovers.
“Wow, moving pretty fast,” the boy in the hoodie said lightly as he watched the couple head toward the exit.
“Pfft!” The girl seemed displeased with his comment. “Please! She’s the one who made the first move. And look at how little progress they’ve made! I think that guy is just a blockhead—a jerk!”
The boy in the hoodie smiled wryly to himself. Did that mean any man who casually fell in love was a good man? Someone like him who took steady steps and developed feelings over time was surely more sincere.
“What are you two doing here?” A cheeky voice came from behind them, startling both the boy in the hoodie and the girl in the baseball cap. They turned around to see a couple standing before them.
“Oh! Isn’t that President Qin? What a coincidence!” Zhou Zhi shamelessly approached to shake hands while Qin Xin looked both amused and annoyed, shoving his hands into his pockets with an expression full of sarcasm.
“Alright, alright, don’t tease them anymore,” Wang Xinzhuo chuckled softly, playfully punching Qin Xin's arm.
"What's wrong? Aren't your goals the same as ours?" Zhou Yan took off his baseball cap and shook his hair, which had been flattened by the hat, a look of relief on his face.
"Well..." Qin Xin was at a loss for words because it was indeed true.

"Wow, that boy is really handsome." On a bench in Pedestrian Street, a man lay back with his head resting on a beautiful woman's lap, looking utterly content.
"Hmm?"
A strong scent of jealousy wafted into the woman's nose. She playfully flicked the man's forehead and laughed, "Are you jealous? You're handsome too! Besides, I mean, it's no wonder your sister is so infatuated; just looking at his face is worth it."
The man smiled but said nothing, lost in memories of the past.

Back at the hotel, when they reached the top floor, they found everyone else was gone. Li Xue wrapped her arm around Chen Rui's and smiled, "Will you come with me to see the moon?"
Chen Rui nodded with a smile. How could I say no?
