Li Xue's voice nearly startled Gao Zhijie into dropping his cigarette. Once he recognized who it was, he immediately exchanged a glance with Ruan Yu, swiftly removing the suit jacket from Chen Rui and tossing the cigarette butt inside to extinguish it.
"What the hell! What are you two doing? This is company attire!!! Even if there’s no ashtray, you can’t just wrap my clothes around it!" Chen Rui exclaimed angrily.
Seeing Gao Zhijie and Ruan Yu react this way, Li Xue's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly as she said, "Don't let me catch you doing that again!"
Gao Zhijie and Ruan Yu nodded with smiles, carrying Chen Rui's suit jacket as they headed toward the stairs. Before leaving, Gao Zhijie whispered to Chen Rui, "Start as soon as possible; we don't have much time."
Chen Rui understood his meaning and silently nodded in response.
After Gao Zhijie and Ruan Yu left, Li Xue shot an unhappy glance at Chen Rui and asked, "Is it time for your students to start dreaming?"
"Yes." Chen Rui knew he couldn't hide it from her, so he simply admitted it. After all, she was still officially the assistant leader of A Group, and she was supposed to know about these matters.
Looking at Li Xue, Chen Rui suddenly smiled and said, "Can you do me a favor?!"
Li Xue glanced at him and immediately understood his request, feeling a bit annoyed. "You want me to help with your own business?"
Chen Rui laughed heartily and walked over to Li Xue. "After all, if I handle everything myself, it would be hard to explain and would look too obvious. So I still need your cooperation."
"Why?" Li Xue sighed, looking at Chen Rui with a hint of resentment.
Chen Rui's gaze became very firm as he replied solemnly, "For the students!"
Twenty minutes later:
"Zhuo Rohan! I need to talk to you." Li Xue called out from the doorway of the office to Zhuo Rohan, who was inspecting Ye Yi's work.
"Got it, just a moment." The office was somewhat noisy, so Zhuo Rohan didn't immediately recognize who had called her. However, she couldn't leave until she finished checking Ye Yi's work.
Ye Yi seemed to sense something and glanced toward the door. After confirming who it was, he nudged Zhuo Rohan with his elbow. "Go ahead."
Zhuo Rohan furrowed her brows slightly but still glanced toward the door. When she saw that it was Li Xue standing there, her frown deepened. She gently said to Ye Yi, "You check for yourself; I’ll be leaving first."
As Zhuo Rohan reached the entrance, Li Xue smiled and didn’t seem to mind Zhuo Rohan's earlier attitude. She simply waved her hand, signaling her to follow. "I have something I want to discuss with you."
"Please go ahead," Zhuo Rohan replied, trailing behind Li Xue. Her expression was inscrutable, lacking the fervent admiration that other students had for the Li Family.
Li Xue walked ahead of her and couldn’t see her expression. She shook her head lightly and laughed, "This isn’t a convenient place; come with me to the office building."
Li Xue used a declarative sentence, leaving no room for Zhuo Rohan to consider or refute, employing a tone that resembled an order to ensure compliance.
After they descended the stairs, they hopped on an electric scooter. However, instead of heading directly to the office building, Li Xue rode toward the school gate. Although Zhuo Rohan suspected that their destination might not be the office building after all, she didn’t ask any questions and silently followed Li Xue.
They arrived at the foot of the faculty dormitory, where Zhuo Rohan naturally noticed Chen Rui standing there and frowned again. "Teacher Chen?"
Chen Rui smiled slightly. "Actually, I was looking for you. However, I can’t keep appearing in person, so I had to trouble Li Xue."
Upon hearing this, Zhuo Rohan’s brows knitted tightly. "You’re looking for me? Appearing repeatedly…"
Suddenly, two strong men appeared behind Zhuo Rohan, pressing a damp cloth over her nose and mouth. Although she knew that the cloth was likely soaked with sleeping drugs, the sudden shock made her inhale deeply from it instinctively. In an instant, she felt her body grow weak and collapsed onto one of the men.
Chen Rui looked at the now unconscious Zhuo Rohan and chuckled at Gao Zhijie and Ruan Yu. "I didn’t realize you two were so skilled! It seems you’ve done this kind of thing quite a bit before!"
"Shut up!" Gao Zhijie retorted. "But I think this girl actually became quite calm in the end; it seems she suspected you wouldn’t do anything to her."
Ruan Yu supported the unconscious Zhuo Rohan and chuckled lightly. "But this kind of reaction is indeed rare; to think so much in just one or two seconds—especially after being startled—she really has a demeanor of someone important."
Chen Rui nodded. "If they grow up well, they could become significant figures in their own right. Enough chatter; let’s hurry and carry her inside before anyone sees."
Ruan Yu and Gao Zhijie lifted Zhuo Rohan as if she were a corpse and staggered into the faculty dormitory building.
Li Xue glanced at the sleeping girl with some concern and said, "I still have things to do, so I won’t be following you. Make sure to bring her back safely."
Chen Rui knew that this was Li Xue's maternal instinct kicking in. He smiled and said, "Don't worry, we will definitely bring her back, and she will be better, more mature, and more perfect than before."
After parting ways, Chen Rui followed Gao Zhijie into the elevator, which went straight to the top floor of the dormitory building. The top floor served as their temporary operations room, with all the doors of the rooms wide open. The stairway entrance had been locked, and access to the elevator required a card swipe, so there was no need to worry about unrelated personnel barging in.
Gao Zhijie and Ruan Yu carried Zhuo Rohan into the first dormitory on the left. The room appeared relatively normal, except for an additional Dream Connector that had been installed. It seemed to be arranged as the only place for entering dreams.
The two laid Zhuo Rohan on the bed and fitted her with the Connector before exiting the room and leading Chen Rui into the dormitory across from the dream space.
This dormitory had taken on a somewhat eerie atmosphere; its original arrangement was in disarray. Computers, instruments, and other equipment were strewn across the bed, floor, and desk, with various data connection cables covering the ground, giving it a hacker's den vibe.
This mission was assigned to Gao Zhijie's second team, so Chen Rui was unaware of these individuals' specific roles and could only awkwardly stand beside Gao Zhijie.
Gao Zhijie glanced at Chen Rui and smiled. "This mission doesn't require the Execution Team, so there are only two emergency members from the Execution Team here. And sitting here is..."
Chen Rui interrupted him. "Alright, alright. There's no point in introducing them; you don't have anything to do anyway. Just direct from here."
"But that's your student!" Gao Zhijie exclaimed in surprise. This meant he was essentially taking over Chen Rui's task, and he wasn't very familiar with Class Three's situation.
"I'll give the orders; you just execute them. No need for all this chatter," Chen Rui said, giving Gao Zhijie a look. "First, let your team members erase Zhuo Rohan's recent memories."
"Memories can't be erased; they can only be transferred or hidden," explained a boy named Liu Hai with long hair.
Chen Rui shot another glance at Gao Zhijie but remained silent. However, Gao Zhijie understood Chen Rui's intent immediately and reprimanded Liu Hai sharply. "Who is Team Leader Chen? Does Team Leader Chen not know? What he means is for you to quickly hide that girl's memories from the last two hours. If she can't recall them in her dream, isn't that equivalent to having them erased? Use your brain!"
Chen Rui raised his hand to stop him and smiled lightly. "Actually, that's exactly what I meant; I'm just not good at expressing myself."
Hey! This guy actually made me play the bad cop while he took on the good cop role! Gao Zhijie glared at Chen Rui with displeasure, his eyes hinting at some anger that even Ruan Yu couldn't help but laugh at.
"Hahaha... Alright, you guys stop messing around. Get on with what you need to do; we can't have the sedative wearing off before we even start," Ruan Yu said as he patted his chest and bent down slightly to ease his laughter from witnessing Chen Rui and Gao Zhijie's 'performance.'
According to Chen Rui's philosophy, the best education for students at this school was through criticism. Different people required different methods of criticism—denying their proudest and most confident traits was key to bringing them down a notch.
Of course, Chen Rui did not believe that these students would be disheartened after facing setbacks. They had been educated in confidence from a young age, so the harder they fell, the more stable they would stand up again.
Each failure would only make them more perfect.
However, Zhuo Rohan was clearly not among them!
Chen Rui learned from her student files and personal information that this student was not just proud and confident; she was excessively proud, to the point of arrogance. Therefore, Chen Rui chose to use her as a test subject to see what kind of setback could break her arrogance!
The Long-Banged Boy suddenly said, “Alright, her memories from the past two years have been hidden back to around the age of ten. If she isn’t prompted by external factors or doesn’t recall events from that time, she won’t be able to remember what happened during those two years at all.”
Chen Rui glanced at the time on the computer; only about two minutes had passed. She smiled and asked, “So soon? How long would it take for memories from two years ago to transfer?”
Without hesitation, the boy replied, “About five minutes or so.”
“And if it were two or three years? Or ten years?”
The boy thought for a moment and calculated, “If we’re talking about years, it gets a bit complicated. However, it can still be done. Transferring ten years’ worth of memories would take about an hour. But…”
“But what?”
The boy smiled. “Previously transferred memories are not erased; they are merely relocated. If the person whose memories were transferred thinks about that period, they will recall those memories. Moreover, memories spanning ten years are quite vast; if the person is under fifty years old, they should be able to remember them relatively easily.”
“Oh, let’s begin entering the dream.” Chen Rui said quietly.
