Han Jianxiang grabbed the walkie-talkie from the desk beside him, looked at the young boy in front of him, and smiled. He pressed the "P" button and said, "Emergency code: 11, last strike request, strike coordinates: 117711447, 98. Please use siege Missile to completely destroy the Quarantine Bureau Laboratory Building. Over!"
A voice crackled through the walkie-talkie, filled with disbelief. "The coordinates are exactly where you are located!!! Confirm? Over!"
Han Jianxiang sighed. "I have confirmed that there are over two hundred enemy Sergeants within the strike range of the target. Confirming strike request, please proceed with the attack as soon as possible! Over!"
"Your strike request has been approved. The Missile will arrive at the target in forty seconds... safe travels... Over!"
Han Jianxiang casually tossed the walkie-talkie aside, picked up his rifle, and stood up with a smile. "Let's get moving a bit; otherwise, we might end up dead without knowing why when they burst in."
Li Chunbo looked at Han Jianxiang with a wry smile. "It's only a matter of forty seconds anyway."
Han Jianxiang's expression changed, and he coldly barked, "Get up!"
Though confused, Li Chunbo obeyed Han Jianxiang's command and quickly stood up from his chair, holding his sniper rifle while looking at Han Jianxiang in puzzlement.
Han Jianxiang swiftly walked to a desk in the corner of the office, pulled out a backpack-like object, and tossed it in front of Li Chunbo with an indifferent expression. "Hurry up and put this on! Strap it on tight! Before I change my mind!"
Li Chunbo stared at the backpack; he knew what was inside. Han Jianxiang had indeed left himself an escape route, but that backup was only prepared for one person. If he used it to escape, what would happen to him?
"I'll carry you along!" Li Chunbo immediately voiced his true thoughts. A glider is different from a parachute; typically, a glider can support the weight of two people.
Han Jianxiang forced a smile and teased, "Don't be ridiculous! There aren't any extra safety straps; I don't want to fall from a hundred meters up—that would be too pathetic. Hurry up and put it on! If you don’t wear it, I’ll throw it away right now."
Li Chunbo quickly stepped back while holding onto the parachute pack and said seriously, "Don't be so stubborn. If we leave together, at least you have a chance to survive; staying here alone is certain death!"
Han Jianxiang frowned slightly and stopped wasting words with Li Chunbo. He rushed forward and snatched the parachute pack away. Li Chunbo thought he was preparing to retreat alone but realized this was also Han Jianxiang's way of leaving him an escape route. He smiled faintly and let him be.
What Li Chunbo didn't expect was that after grabbing the parachute pack, Han Jianxiang immediately turned around and restrained him before quickly strapping on the parachute pack himself.
"What are you doing?" Li Chunbo stepped back angrily, clearly dissatisfied with Han Jianxiang's actions.
Han Jianxiang gently said, "It's nothing, I just... want you to live."
"Bang, bang, bang, bang..." Han Jianxiang quickly raised his rifle and shot in the direction of Li Chunbo. Before Li Chunbo could react, Han Jianxiang approached him, grabbed something from his parachute bag, and stuffed it into Li Chunbo's hand. He leaned in close and laughed, "I hope you'll know how to use this. My daughter cries a lot, and when she does, she likes to hit people. You can't hit back!"
After saying that, Han Jianxiang suddenly pushed Li Chunbo backward with force. Caught off guard, Li Chunbo was shoved out of the building. A series of shots from Han Jianxiang had already created a line of bullet holes in the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the tempered glass was now very fragile. Li Chunbo fell directly toward the ground.
Finally reacting, Li Chunbo quickly pulled the cord attached to his parachute. The parachute opened behind him, and after the airflow created resistance, he was successfully suspended in mid-air.
Li Chunbo looked at the shattered floor-to-ceiling windows on the top floor of the Laboratory Building. Han Jianxiang smiled and waved at him, saying, "Take good care of her for me!"
At his current height, there was no way for Li Chunbo to reach the top floor of the laboratory building to evacuate with Han Jianxiang. Realizing he could not save him, tears welled up in the corners of Li Chunbo's eyes once again.
Li Chunbo glided toward Dongjiang Road with the east wind. He had previously flown a parachute not in the military but during university vacations, so he was somewhat familiar with it. Riding the east wind at his current altitude made gliding to Dongjiang Road a piece of cake.
Perhaps due to the poor morale of the enemy soldiers after a night of fighting, Li Chunbo flew through the air at about fifty or sixty meters for two or three kilometers without anyone firing a single shot at him. This allowed him to successfully return to the front line at Dongjiang Road.
It was indeed surprising for Li Chunbo that the defense line at Dongjiang Road had held up until now. After all, previous lines had been breached too quickly; most were torn apart by overwhelming enemy fire within minutes, forcing his soldiers to retreat passively.
Li Chunbo's arrival caused quite a stir; after all, flying a parachute over a combat zone was extremely dangerous. At that altitude, even rifle fire posed a significant threat.
Once on the ground, Li Chunbo encountered the colonel he had spoken with earlier and saluted him. "Colonel, what are your orders?"
The colonel waved his hand with a bitter smile and said, "What orders can I give you? I don't even know your unit number; I only know about the group you escorted back..."
Upon hearing this, Li Chunbo immediately became anxious and asked urgently, "What happened to that group? Did they manage to evacuate?"
The colonel gestured for Li Chunbo to calm down and sighed. "They've all evacuated; they should have left Tianjin by now. Thanks to them, the evacuation efforts in Tianjin City District have gone surprisingly smoothly. However, there's one girl who refuses to leave; she's waiting for you."
"A girl? You mean Han Mu Yu?" After removing his parachute bag and tossing it behind the defense line, Li Chunbo asked anxiously, "Where is she? How can an ordinary citizen not evacuate? Even if it's forced, she must be evacuated! Her father just... sacrificed himself..."
The Colonel sighed, "We do not have the authority to order civilians to leave this place, but she has been stopped by us. If the enemy threatens her, they must first get past all of us at this defensive line! You just mentioned her father; is he a comrade of Jinfang in the military?"
Li Chunbo shook his head. "Her father is not a soldier; he is a comrade from the Ministry of State Security. The previous batches of Missile were launched under his guidance. We successfully destroyed the enemy's 6th armored division and artillery from the Ministry of War."
The Colonel looked at the young Second Lieutenant in surprise and asked, "No wonder we haven't faced any enemy artillery fire since the first wave; it was all your doing! Is your job to assist that comrade from the National Security Bureau?"
"Not exactly; it was just a coincidence, and I couldn't find my comrade. Later, I learned that he was the girl's father. Where is she? I want to see her," Li Chunbo said softly. He had promised the girl he would find her father, and he had done so, but her father was dead, while he had survived because of her father's sacrifice.
The Colonel glanced at the young Second Lieutenant and said to a nearby guard, "Alright, Zhao, take him to find that girl."
The Colonel instructed a knowledgeable guard to lead Li Chunbo to where the girl was located while he remained at the frontline command post.
Soon after, the girl in the white dress appeared before Li Chunbo again. The smoke from nearby battles seemed unable to touch her; she looked as pure and beautiful as ever.
Upon seeing Li Chunbo, the girl rushed over and asked, "Where's my dad? Did you find him?"
The guard named Zhao observed their interaction, saluted Li Chunbo, and then ran back to the frontline position, leaving Han Mu Yu and Li Chunbo together.
Li Chunbo swallowed hard and said weakly, "Yes, I found him..."
The light in Han Mu Yu's eyes brightened instantly as she asked urgently, "Where is he? Something didn't happen again, did it?"
Li Chunbo hesitated for a moment and replied evasively, "Yes, he had something come up, so he couldn't make it to see you."
Han Mu Yu looked at Li Chunbo with confusion. After a moment of silence, her expression changed dramatically as she whispered, "My dad... won't..."
Li Chunbo sighed deeply, closed his eyes slowly, and said, "I'm sorry..."
Tears welled up in Han Mu Yu's eyes immediately as she pounded her small fists against Li Chunbo's chest. "Why... why didn't you bring him back... why..."
Li Chunbo recalled how Han Jianxiang had forcibly strapped a backpack onto him not long ago, then pushed him out of the building, urging him to take care of Han Mu Yu. Tears streamed down his face as he whispered, "I'm sorry... truly sorry..."
Suddenly, Li Chunbo felt as if something had pierced his heart, causing a pain that nearly made him lose his balance. He leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths in an attempt to ease the discomfort.
Seeing Li Chunbo's distress, Han Mu Yu began to cry again. "What's wrong with you? You charged through gunfire unscathed, and now you're like this?"
Li Chunbo forced a bitter smile, touching the area over his heart. He suddenly realized that something had been stuffed into the pocket of his chest, and it was this object that had caused the sharp pain when Han Mu Yu had bumped into him.
He pulled it out and discovered it was a diamond-shaped earring—just one, not a pair. The sharp edge must have been what had pricked him earlier.
Upon seeing the earring, Han Mu Yu snatched it from him and examined it closely before bursting into tears again, crying even harder than before, her tears flowing like a river.
This earring was likely something Han Jianxiang had shoved into his pocket at the moment he pushed him, probably an item that Han Mu Yu had wanted but never bought. Li Chunbo looked at Han Mu Yu with deep affection in his eyes.
Slowly, he crouched down in front of her, took her hand, and asked gently, "Shall we go home?"

Finally finished writing Battle of Jin; I was on the verge of breaking down. I didn't intend to delve into military themes again since the entire third volume revolves around soldiers. But after watching the first episode of Wings of Freedom—where I still don't quite understand what giants are—I felt that surge of passion once more, which led to this volume.
On a side note: Wings of Freedom maintains the high standards set by its first season and is definitely worth following!
