A flash of purple radiance blinded everyone momentarily, their faces frozen in panic. When their vision returned to normal, they realized that danger had arrived.
"Ah...!" A cry erupted as the crowd snapped back to reality and rushed toward the nearest buildings to take cover. For those who lived in New York, this frantic dash was second nature; within a few breaths, they found safe spots.
Though unexpected dangers didn't occur every moment, they were a common occurrence after some time—New Yorkers had long since grown accustomed to it.
The streets quickly fell silent, with onlookers peering from a distance. They soon noticed that the person struck by the thunderbolt seemed completely unharmed.
Thor stood there, bewildered. Just as he was about to pry open the Shrine Maiden's mouth to ask about the whereabouts of his artifact, another bolt of lightning struck down. Although it caused no damage, his cloak was torn apart.
Tang Xin'er immediately covered her eyes and scolded lightly.
—It was blinding!
For gods, the sense of shame was different from that of Yamato Humanity. Thor's expression turned cold as he glared at the top floor of a nearby building; he sensed that the source of the energy was emanating from there.
On the top floor of a building towering over a hundred meters high, Chen Fan felt embarrassed under Thor's furious gaze. A bolt of lightning had struck down, yet the target remained unscathed—how could they continue like this?
Chen Fan had considered that lightning wouldn't deal much damage to a lightning deity, but he hadn't anticipated that his own lightning would seem completely ineffective against Thor.
"Chen Fan... is that really a god?" Monster Teacher asked excitedly. This was a firsthand encounter with a living Lord Kamei!
"But... Chen Fan, why didn't you recite any incantations when you used your lightning?"
Hearing Monster Teacher's question, Chen Fan chuckled awkwardly. No wonder there was no damage; it turned out his method of attack was wrong. He hadn't even used Curse Power—what kind of damage could he expect from just lightning?
—— After all, Thor is known as the God of Thunder.
On the street, only a few figures were still moving.
The once lively scene was completely shattered by a sudden roar of thunder.
Having regained their senses, Tang San and others ignored Thor beside them and turned to run wildly into the distance. The events that had just unfolded at the airport were crystal clear to the siblings through their tablet.
Surrounded by various cries and pleas for help, the three paid no attention as they successfully distanced themselves from the accident site by a kilometer under the protection of the Shrine Maiden.
As they continued to flee, a middle-aged man, trembling and kneeling on the ground, appeared before them.
"You? Who are you?" Tang abruptly stopped, intending to help the man when he felt a sharp knock on his head. Turning around in confusion, he asked, "Sister, why did you hit me? This person is…"
"Don't worry about who he is! We need to leave here first!" Tang Xin'er interrupted Tang's words. What was he thinking trying to play the good Samaritan at a time like this? When did her foolish brother develop such rare virtues?
"Wait? That person is our target individual, Bruce Banner!" Tang hurriedly explained. If it weren't for the fear that their target might die, he wouldn't care about some guy lying on the roadside.
"What a coincidence…" Tang Xin'er widened her eyes in surprise.
"Coincidence? Didn't we agree to meet at the café across the street?" Tang slapped his forehead. If this mission failed, he would be facing a life without pocket money.
"You… you all need to get away from me! Go! Quickly… get far away!" Bruce Banner was frustrated; he hadn't expected an accident right when the transaction was about to be completed.
As they arrived at the meeting point, a wave of dangerous energy suddenly swept over him, causing the troublemaker inside him to stir again!
"Run… I can't control it anymore…!" Having prior knowledge of the situation, Bruce Banner recognized that these two were involved in this transaction. However, now was not the time for idle chatter. "You all need to get away from me and run forward without stopping!"
Hearing the commotion behind her, the Shrine Maiden quickly turned around and noticed that her employer was still in a state of concern for disabled individuals. Frowning, she urged, "What are you all waiting for? That's Thunder Lord and Thor over there! If you don't get far away, you'll end up being struck by lightning!"
Having personally felt the fierce aura of Chen Fan, the Shrine Maiden never wanted to experience that suffocating sensation again.
“He's telling us to run!” Tang Xin'er translated, no longer hesitating as she grabbed Tang and dashed away, her agile movements as a martial artist on full display.
As for the person kneeling on the ground, Tang Xin'er didn't want to know what was happening with them.
Just as the three of them had run a distance, a familiar voice rang out in their ears, deafening.
“I provoke the gods above with these words, exercising their divine power—
—Thunder, come before me and punish my enemies!”
Under this young voice that silenced all things, the Naked Man at the corner of the building glared fiercely, his voice filled with anger: “Mortal... how dare you provoke my divine race! Who gave you the courage!”
Accompanied by a heavy and oppressive atmosphere, another roar erupted, deep and resonant like a mad beast.
“Green... Hulk? What is he doing here... Sis, we need to get out of here or we're done for!” Tang urged his sister, Mabapi. Who could have told him that their target for the transaction was actually the Hulk in his monstrous form—
Old man... how could you set me up like this? To choose a professional demolition worker like Hulk as a trading partner!
“Roar!” The Hulk, embodied by Bruce Banner, stomped his foot, shattering half a street as his massive green form charged toward the somewhat dazed Thor.
With little rationality left, Bruce Banner instinctively sensed two threatening presences and logically chose to attack the nearest one.
“Yay! Chen Fan, another monster has appeared!” Monster Teacher exclaimed excitedly. He was thrilled to discover that there were so many monsters in this world; he truly was not alone!
As for Chen Fan, who was awakening Curse Power and preparing to unleash a powerful move, the corners of his mouth twitched violently. Was this really an attempt to steal his kill?
As the shadow loomed overhead, a massive fist, accompanied by a tearing sound, came hurtling toward Thor. It was only then that he remembered his current state: Divine Power sealed, weapons lost, and the only thing he retained was a divine body that was merely a notch above that of a human.
But what did that matter?
—As the God of War!
How could he tolerate the provocation of a monster?
Watching the approaching fist grow ever closer, Thor glared fiercely. Drawing upon the strength of his divine form, he swung his own fist with all his might, aiming to collide with the oncoming Hulk.
High above, Chen Fan sneered disdainfully. Under the surging Curse Power, he controlled the Thunder Authority to strike down at Hulk. If he didn’t act this way, his feat of slaying gods would be meaningless.
To Chen Fan, Thor's current state resembled that of a reckless fool—brave yet foolish. Knowing full well there was no chance of victory, he still insisted on trading blows with the green behemoth. If he didn’t intervene, Hulk would likely swat Thor away with ease.
How fast was thunder?
Almost at the moment Hulk swung his fist, a Dark Golden Electric Serpent crashed into his massive form.
“Roar! Roar! Roar!”
In pain, Hulk let out a furious roar, rampaging against everything in sight. Streets were destroyed, shops collapsed, and buildings turned to ruins in an instant before the wrathful monster.
