The sudden scene made Peter furrow his brow. He extended his hand, and a glistening thread of silk wrapped around all the weapons, effortlessly yanking them from everyone's grasp.
People in this world were terrified of Kabaneri; that was a fact Peter understood well. But to open fire on him, the very person who had just saved their lives, without proving whether he posed a threat?
Even he was caught in the crossfire—
This was going too far. Such hypocritical behavior disgusted Big Boy, and he began to doubt whether he had saved the right person.
"Monster! This man is also a monster!" Seeing the weapons slip from their hands in an instant, the warriors drew their swords, their faces pale with fear as they pointed at Peter.
Two Kabaneri and one creature that was incredibly strong and could spew strange Silk Thread.
"Peter, aren't you surprised? The very people you saved are treating you like a monster!" When Peter heard the voice crackle through his earpiece, he was taken aback. Iron Man, that Vibrant Goods, was watching from the sidelines.
"Stark... you bastard, why didn't you wait for me!" Big Boy gritted his teeth, filled with indignation.
"You secretly tricked 007 into helping you woo girls and even used the energy from Thunder Book without permission. Leaving you behind is a light punishment!" From thousands of miles away on the Floating Fortress, Tony watched the scene unfold with delight.
Peter's earpiece displayed a holographic feed. Once the Satellite launched, J.A.R.V.I.S. could use quantum fluctuations to project everything happening around Peter. Thus, all of Big Boy's encounters were under J.A.R.V.I.S.'s surveillance.
Tony's response left Peter silent. Under countless bewildered faces, he opened his mouth: "Sir isn't going to do anything to me, right?"
Big Bald Rob was currently vacationing on Monk Island, serving a one-month sentence. He certainly didn't want to join him in some survival game on an isolated island.
"I wouldn't know about that!" Tony sipped his tomato juice, freshly squeezed from tomatoes.
The alcohol he had prepared would likely be gone by the time they returned to the real world; there probably wouldn’t be many bottles left in the fortress.
"Get Tentacle Monster to pick me up; I don't want to stay here any longer!" Peter scanned the crowd. The people he had saved looked at him as if he were a monster, their expressions mirroring those they wore when facing Kabaneri.
Big Boy's belief was to become a partner of justice, but he was still just a boy—his fragile heart couldn't bear such hypocritical faces.
"Sure... but it will cost you the price of an apple..."
"Spider-Man, are you willing to pay?" Sitting on the sofa, Tony raised his toes, completely focused on the tomato, ignoring all the other fruits and vegetables.
"Stark! This is robbery! Do you know how much an apple costs? Three million dollars! That's three million dollars!" In the compartment, under the watchful eyes of countless people, Peter suddenly shouted, his voice filled with a chilling intensity that brought a brief stillness to the area.
Though they couldn't understand Peter's words, the aura he emitted was something ordinary warriors couldn't withstand. Even Nameless, who called herself Kabaneri, found it hard to resist Peter's sudden outburst of energy.
—This was the obsession of a poor person facing financial loss.
"I'll give you five million!" After this statement came through the earpiece, Peter scratched his head and chuckled, "No problem at all, I'll get it to you when I return!"
With the call ended, Peter felt elated. His gaze swept over to them. "You two seem like you can't stay here any longer. Do you want to leave with me? Translator!"
He patted the boy on the shoulder.
"Where are we going?" Nameless asked with curiosity. She had witnessed Jun City flying in mid-air and soon responded through the boy's translation, "I'll go!"
Vajra City was indeed her destination.
"I want to stay here; my companions are here!" the boy replied.
"Hehehe!" Peter laughed, patting the boy's arm. "They see you as a monster. Staying here? I think they'll kill you soon!"
As someone who had been half-translated by the boy, Peter felt a bit grateful; otherwise, he wouldn't have extended an invitation.
In the end, under the unwavering gaze of the boy, Peter conceded. He took out a biochemical bomb from his pocket—the last one he had—and handed it to him, saying, "This biochemical bomb can eliminate Kabaneri within a kilometer radius for half an hour. I'm giving it to you as a reward for helping me translate!"
For something he could easily get from Tony, Big Boy was quite generous; after all, it wasn't his own. He could always ask for more later!
After a few words, Peter heard Tony's voice in his ear: "Jump off the train yourself, and I'll have the fortress catch you!"
"Understood!" Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Peter had the boy translate again: "Tell that girl, if she wants to go to Vajra City, just jump out with me. My companions will catch her outside; she doesn't need to worry about getting hurt!"
With that, Big Boy punched the door of the carriage, sending it flying, and his body shot out in an instant—
"Mr. Peter wants me to tell you, if you want to go to Vajra City, jump down from here. His companions will be there to catch you; you won't get hurt!" The boy approached Nameless, glanced at the rapidly moving Jun City, and relayed the message.
"Heh heh—!" Nameless sneered. Jumping out from here? That would leave her either dead or crippled. She expressed her distrust of a stranger's words.
So she chose to continue riding in Jun City toward her destination.
…
"Stark, you lied to me..." Peter shouted as he crawled out from a pile of dirt, covered in mud like a homeless person emerging from a pit.
Catch him?
When Peter jumped out, all he saw was a vast expanse of blue sky, and then his body began to fall under gravity. If there had been a forest below, he could have steadied himself with his webbing, but instead, there was only a plain—
The Floating Fortress remained cloaked, with only the entrance visible. This was marked for Peter's benefit. Gritting his teeth at the sight of the door several meters away, Big Boy walked inside.
"Stark, why did you lie to me? Falling from this height could kill someone!" Big Boy exclaimed angrily, shaking off dirt onto the clean floor.
"J.A.R.V.I.S. calculated it; even if it were twice as high, you wouldn't die from the fall!" Tony said coldly while holding a bottle of tomato juice, watching Big Boy vent his frustration.
This made Peter's eyelids twitch. Not wanting to get entangled with Tony any further, he swallowed hard and headed toward the restroom. He suddenly remembered that he was still carrying a burden of guilt.
—If he kept pushing his luck, he might really end up dead!
In the fortress, neither Chen Fan nor Monster Teacher was present. After having breakfast, the two monsters went out for a stroll, naturally heading to the home of the girl that Monster Teacher could not forget.
As the first life he had personally saved, Monster Teacher was quite concerned about the girl.
"This is it!" The leading Monster Teacher brought Chen Fan to a desolate area, the outermost part of the Station, referred to as the Slum by those within.
Chen Fan was enveloped in a layer of energy that not only shielded him from dirt but also blocked out the foul odors in the air.
—This world was filled with an abundance of scents that he found repulsive.
It was a mix of Divine Power, evil, bloodshed, and utter chaos.
Lifting the flap of a makeshift shelter in front of him, Monster Teacher walked in without hesitation, with Chen Fan following closely behind.
The space was small, only about ten square meters. A quick glance revealed all that lay within—
Near the earthen wall was a pile of dry grass, on top of which lay a frail child, looking gaunt and exhausted, as if they could pass away at any moment.
Not far away, on a platform made of piled stones, there were some broken jars, but neither of them showed any interest in what they contained.
"Teacher... why are you here?" The girl crouched in the corner noticed Monster Teacher's entrance. This name was one that Monster Teacher had told her to use.
"What happened to the clothes I gave you?" Monster Teacher exclaimed, eyes widening in shock at the sight of the girl wrapped only in a tattered piece of cloth.
