In the Demon Realm.
"Father! Have you taken care of everything?" Hong Likqi's voice echoed from the grand hall as he quickly emerged from a side door. His face radiated joy, as if he had just acquired a precious treasure.
A group of patrolling soldiers happened to pass by outside and offered a salute, which Hong returned with a cheerful nod.
"My son, do you still not trust me? He will meet a miserable end, just like his father!" S. Rikkichi's eyes were fixed on a mural on the wall of the hall: it depicted an enchanting woman sitting on a stone chair, her head bowed as she lovingly cradled a child who was playfully leaning against her feet.
Hong recognized that the woman was his mother; it was something S had inadvertently revealed. He marveled at his mother's beauty, feeling fortunate to be the child at her feet.
Not hearing his son's response, S turned back around.
"The Dream Barrier won't be broken, right?" Hong Likqi approached, his expression darkening momentarily. But he quickly regained his composure; he knew that Yu Tian must possess exceptional skills to be appointed as captain. It wouldn't be easy to deal with him.
"Don't worry! It won't," S. Rikkichi replied confidently, which eased Hong's mind considerably. "By the way! Are you still getting along with Ziya?"
"Father, let's discuss serious matters first!" Although he said this, his mind was filled with thoughts of Ziya's smiling face.
Ziya was the granddaughter of Snake Woman Ziyuan, Hong's childhood playmate. Due to a lack of special protective measures, she had perished during their time in the Galaxy System. However, this Ziya, after transforming into human form, bore an uncanny resemblance to Ziyuan in both appearance and personality. The two quickly developed feelings for each other; just moments ago, they had been playing together throughout the demon palace. Hong felt at ease when he was with her.
"It's alright; I will soon pass on my title to you. You should still consider finding a demon queen!" S. Rikkichi moved closer to the mural, his large fur coat making an unpleasant rustling sound with each step he took.
"Ah?" Hong was startled, but he quickly remembered that when the demon race combined, they would revert to their original forms. The thought of two snakes entwined together made him feel nauseous. Perhaps it was because he had spent too much time with humans on Earth. Suddenly looking up, Hong noticed that S seemed to have aged. His eyes were fixed intently on the mural of their mother.
"Father, are you missing Mother again?" Hong glanced at the wall and then turned to S, asking softly.
"Yes, it's been a long time, hasn't it? I still miss her a bit; after all, I brought her back," S Rikkichi suddenly realized he had let something slip and stopped himself from continuing. However, the hint of sorrow in his voice did not escape Hong's notice.
"Brought her back? Then where is Mother now?" Hong looked at his father as he spoke, and at the same time, his Golden Tail twitched slightly. S turned his head, and their eyes met. Suddenly, his Golden Tail shook violently, and a glimmer of killing intent appeared in his eyes, overshadowing the previous sadness.
"You heard wrong! I brought her back? On what grounds? She is dead! Don't ever mention her again!" S Rikkichi glared at Hong.
"Understood!" Hong trembled at S's sudden change. Just as he finished speaking, S Rikkichi vanished in an instant.
Hong stared at the mural, feeling a familiar question arise in his heart once more: "Why does Mother look so much like Captain Yu Tian—oh no, Tiankada? Could it be...?" Fate is quite amusing; the arrangements for the future will eventually reveal themselves, and then the mysteries will be unveiled. Ah...
