In the previous chapter, Yu Tian sensed a strange energy emerging from the crowd, which caught his attention. Initially, he wanted to carefully probe the source of that energy, but everything vanished.
"Maybe it was just too much to drink!" Lin later commented.
After finishing their drinks, a group of more than ten people went up to the rooftop, where a small stage had already been set up along with an internet-connected jukebox. Everyone was in high spirits, singing and dancing, and Yu Tian and Lin were pushed onto the stage to perform.
As they danced, they drank even more. Yu Tian only knew he was dancing and drinking. Gradually, everything became hazy. When he finally woke up, it was already the next morning—
Everyone had left, and the house was so quiet that even the slightest movement could be heard. Noticing that Lin was no longer beside him, Yu Tian climbed out of bed.
"Lin!—" His voice echoed through the house.
"Yu? Are you up?" Lin's voice came from downstairs, not very clear; she was in the kitchen making breakfast.
"What are we having today?"
Yu Tian quickly tidied up the blankets before heading downstairs into the kitchen. Everything in the living room had returned to normal, likely thanks to the robots. Bright sunlight streamed through the glass, turning into soft blue rays due to the blue coating, warming and comforting the entire first floor.
"I made longan and red date porridge today; hurry and bring me some bowls!"
As soon as he entered the kitchen, Lin issued her command. Yu Tian obediently fetched the pot of porridge.
Lin served two large bowls, and Yu Tian helped her bring them to the table. They both sat down and began to eat.
"This porridge should taste pretty good!" Yu Tian remarked, knowing how hard it was to find those ingredients. He relayed what Dr. S had told him about Lin.
Lin paused and looked at Yu Tian, asking, "So when are you planning to leave?"
"Let's see how it goes after spending a month with you!" Yu Tian estimated. After all, he didn't have any new leads. Blindly going back through the Ancient Tunnel to Kadar Star wouldn't stand a chance against Slicky. He just hoped to find a magical place on this land that nurtured life.
Lin blushed and said, "You can take care of your matters first! I won't be in your way."
"Great! Then I'll take half a day off!" Hearing Lin say that made Yu Tian immediately respond with delight. The expression on his face was as if he had just tasted honey.
"What are you doing?" Lin paused, a hint of nervousness on her face.
Yu Tian shared some things his father had told him with Lin.
After thinking for a while, Lin said, "Well, that's fine. Just half a day!"
"Thank you then, my dear!"
Lin smiled and replied, "No need to thank me. The porridge has cooled down; if you don't eat it now, it won't taste good!"
Yu Tian finished the porridge in his bowl in one gulp and exclaimed, "This is truly the most delicious thing in the universe!"
"Stop joking! If it's good, just drink more. Don't rush; be careful not to burn yourself—" Lin laughed brightly as she watched Yu Tian devour his food.
"Lin! Take a bite, here!" Yu Tian thought of feeding Lin a spoonful of porridge while still holding some in his mouth.
"What are you doing? That's disgusting! Just eat yours..." Lin deliberately turned away and picked up another bowl, bringing it closer to her lips. Deep down, she liked it, but Yu Tian seemed too...
"Hey... still disgusting! Fine—just take care of yourself!" Yu Tian sat back in his chair in defeat, focusing on cooling the porridge before drinking it all down.
"That's better!" Lin said as she sat down too, watching Yu Tian eat while occasionally taking small sips herself.
After they finished eating, Lin cleared the bowls while Yu Tian washed his face a bit. After drying off, he said, "Lin, I'm going to work now. Make sure to rest well and don't tire yourself out!"
"I got it; come back early!"
"Okay, I'll handle some small tasks and be home soon. Wait for me!" After saying this, Yu Tian passed inspection and entered the basement.
He drove quickly to the underground laboratory.
Yu Tian wasn't leaving Earth to search for anything; his intuition told him that as the only source of life among dozens of nearby star systems, Earth must have a place where life originated. His father had once told him that if they couldn't defeat the demon race for now, finding the source of life and understanding the secrets of existence might grant them the most powerful force in the universe.
He took out the thick Divine Canon from Dimensional Space. Just as he was about to place it on the table, a thin piece of water crystal slipped out from between its pages.
"I thought my father wouldn't leave any clues, but it turns out there is one here..." Lost in thought, Yu Tian stood up and placed the strange thin sheet into the scanner.
After a careful scan, the sheet began to change under the focus of precise light: the text and images that had initially appeared transformed, gradually revealing a large question mark. However, this question mark was uneven, resembling some kind of terrain.
"It must be a map of some place. I wonder if such a place exists in the galaxy." Yu Tian pondered as he scanned the question mark into the resource searcher. Using a special plugin from before, he opened the entire Solar System's resource package and began a comprehensive search.
Although the information technology at this time was millions of times more advanced than before, the database was also millions of times larger, so retrieving all specified document information still required some time. Holding the thin sheet in his hand, Yu Tian began to contemplate the secrets it held.
He tried injecting a small amount of energy into it, and sure enough, the question mark disappeared again!
"Is there really nothing here?" Yu Tian stroked the smooth surface of the Crystal Chip as he flipped it over. He couldn't believe that this item guiding him to the center of the universe contained so little information; there must be many other specific details. "Maybe it needs something like a password..."
At that moment, a warning from the searcher alerted him that the processor had finally found all matching data. Yu Tian opened the resources he had found and conducted a secondary search, narrowing down all targets to the Solar System. There were three locations in the Solar System that resembled the terrain indicated by the question mark: one was asteroid number 07425 in an asteroid belt, while the other two were located near Saturn and Earth.
Yu Tian chose the data located on Earth, which turned out to be at the bottom of Cis Lake in the semi-arid Nile Riverbed. It was a desert area where life had long since vanished. Without protective shields, every blade of grass and tree had died; botanists had simply collected all species and placed them in a cosmic botanical garden without further concern for this place.
"This should be it!" Yu Tian mused, but suddenly noticed ripples appearing on the smooth surface of the Crystal Chip. "What's happening now?"
The Crystal Chip began to vibrate more violently...
