Entering the Otherworld, Yu Tian had successfully passed the test of Benevolence and the trial of the Water Elemental Spirit. Fortunately, he had inadvertently gained a good companion, the Water Demon Wolf—later known as Shui Er. This was merely the beginning of the trials in the Otherworld, and Yu Tian knew that the challenges ahead would be even more arduous.
“Lin... Father... my people! I will return—” Yu Tian constantly reminded himself, stimulating his nerves in hopes that his original consciousness would guide him until the very end.
Before long, Shui Er lay beside Yu Tian, nuzzling against his calf. To Yu Tian's surprise, he heard a voice: “Master... are you going to the Fire Elemental Realm? Can we visit our Water Demon Wolf clan's cave?”
This was another being, aside from Little Ru, who called him master. However, after living in a civilized society for so long, Yu Tian found it hard to accept and quickly replied, “Don't call me master; this is a civilized era, and there are no slaves anymore. As for visiting your wolf cave, let's talk about it later. I promised someone I would return soon; I'm in a hurry!”
“What is time?” Shui Er kept shaking her head, droplets of water splashing onto Yu Tian's face.
“You wouldn't understand; it just means I need to finish my tasks here quickly to get out.” Yu Tian felt a bit anxious; he wasn't as leisurely as they were. Suddenly, he noticed some similarities between Shui Er and Little Ru and couldn't help but ponder while holding his staff.
“Can you take me with you?” Seeing Yu Tian lost in thought, Shui Er suddenly howled loudly. However, this sound transformed into ordinary speech in Yu Tian's ears.
“That’s not a problem. But are you willing to give up your throne?” Yu Tian asked suddenly, sensing that this wolf god held significant power. He felt somewhat selfish for asking it to abandon something important for his sake.
“That’s nothing! I just don’t know if I can adapt once I’m out,” Shui Er replied, lifting her head and extending her warm tongue toward Yu Tian's face.
This startled Yu Tian, causing him to jump up. “That’s not an issue; technology is so advanced now that there’s nothing we can’t solve!”
Shui Er realized her scheme wouldn’t work and quietly squatted down, saying, “Although there are many things I don’t understand, I trust you. So let’s go to the Fire Elemental Realm!” Little Ru was just a simple wolf? Certainly not! The beings born in this Otherworld transcended cosmic order. They were not bound by Cosmic Law; as long as they persevered, they could continually break through their limits. Unlike ordinary life forms that would face judgment from the universe upon reaching their energy limits and be taken to another space akin to exile.
Yu Tian was alone in his surroundings. Since he wasn’t quite accustomed to this form of communication, he didn’t fully understand what Shui Er said afterward. But seeing her run off made him use Gale Technique to follow her. He should have grasped the general meaning of her words; hopefully, the next trial wouldn’t be too difficult... he truly felt grateful for the favor bestowed upon him by heaven.
If it weren’t for riding on the wind, Yu Tian feared he might not catch up with Shui Er. The abilities of this wolf were certainly not to be underestimated; after all, she was a creature born from pure elemental nature.
She darted left and right below as she ran for quite some time while Yu Tian flew for a long distance before finally arriving at a small cave entrance. He was astonished that after all his effort flying, he ended up at this cave entrance—surely it wasn’t a dog hole?
"Could it be that Shui Er brought me to their cave?" Yu Tian thought as he descended and followed along.
Shui Er called out a few times at the cave entrance and told Yu Tian, "This is the passage!" Then it squeezed inside, sending a message: "Hurry, use your power to break this barrier!"
Yu Tian hesitated for a moment.
"Hurry up! Yu Tian can't hold on much longer!" Hearing Little Ru's urging, Yu Tian infused energy into the Water Wall. He felt a violent tremor, and Shui Er emerged from the cave, relaying, "Go in!"
It bumped against the Water Wall but vanished instantly. This was somewhat similar to what happened last time in the temple, so Yu Tian strode forward. Passing through the barrier, Yu Tian arrived in the Fire Elemental Realm, where the air was tinged with warmth. Yet Shui Er was still quite cheerful, swinging the pendant around its neck. It was truly showing off!
The necklace Yu Tian wore also brought a refreshing coolness that countered the heat. Aside from a phantom formed by the barrier behind him, there was nothing else. It seemed to be another type of barrier or perhaps an edge of space!
He sent a message to Shui Er: "Shui Er! Can you take Yu Tian to meet the Fire Elemental Spirit?"
It quickly replied, "Of course! Yu Tian!"
Yu Tian's heart skipped a beat, and he snapped back to reality, saying, "I told you not to call me 'master.' How can you call me that?"
"Can you just not say anything? By our Water Demon Wolf clan's calculations, you're just a few years old. I'm already over ten; I'm much older than you."
Yu Tian was left speechless. "But…!"
Before he could finish, Shui Er interrupted, "But what! I'll take you to meet the Fire Elemental Spirit now, Brother Tian!"
"Brother Tian? Shui Er! Why are you calling me that again?" Yu Tian truly didn't understand how he had so easily gained a brother.
"Weren't you just wanting to make friends with Yu Tian?" Shui Er wagged its tail, constantly giving Yu Tian various looks.
"Could it really read minds?" Yu Tian couldn't help but think to himself.
"Of course!" Shui'er exclaimed before running off. Yu Tian didn't use the Gale Technique; instead, he ran while thinking, "I need to be more careful in the future and try not to think too much!"
At that moment, Shui'er sent a message: "That's impossible, Brother Tian! Who is Lin?"
"Which Lin?" Yu Tian replied deliberately.
"The Saintess you have in mind!" Yu Tian felt both amused and annoyed, so he quickened his pace. It seemed this girl had the same ability as Little Ru. He could only brush the thought aside; he didn't want Shui'er to question him about it for ages.
"Brother Tian! Why don't you ask me how I know so much?"
"I know! I'm not as foolish as you wolves!" Yu Tian stopped on purpose, striking a proud pose as he looked at Shui'er.
"Alright! You say we're foolish, but we're not like the wolves from Earth that the Hexa Deity told us about. Let's see if you can catch up with me!" After saying that, Shui'er dashed away in a blur of white. Yu Tian felt a bit irritated.
He immediately picked up speed. Yu Tian truly didn't expect his abilities had grown so much. However, the distance between him and Shui'er continued to widen. It seemed he would have to use magic.
Yu Tian summoned the wind and activated the Gale Technique, slowly catching up to Shui'er.
"I'm here!" he heard Shui'er's voice call out, and he hurriedly turned around...
