Under the guidance of Shui Er, Yu Tian successfully arrived at the domain of the Fire Elemental Spirit.
When he reached there, he found Shui Er sitting on the ground, her eyes fixed intently on a hole as if some monster lurked within, constantly shielding her eyes with her paws.
As he approached, he realized that this was a cave made of red stones—not too deep, but he could vaguely see what lay inside. At that moment, Yu Tian noticed many creatures around him; this place was far from lifeless.
Yu Tian cautiously stepped inside, careful not to disturb the Fire Elemental Spirit's cultivation, fearing that it might bring him misfortune. Upon entering, he discovered a stone chamber containing only a small stone table and a stone bed.
Was this really the dwelling of the Fire Elemental Spirit? So simple? Did it not eat or drink? That could be fine, but there wasn't even anything to play with...
Yu Tian searched around but found no sign of the Fire Elemental Spirit. It seemed that this spirit was quite playful and had left this dull cave to wander elsewhere.
With no other options, Yu Tian sent a message to Shui Er: "Shui Er, why can't I find the Fire Elemental Spirit?"
Shui Er wagged her tail and came over, replying, "It's right here! Last time I listened to the Fire Elemental Spirit tell stories here!"
She kept tapping her head with her paws as if verifying her memory. After a while of this without any results, Shui Er grew impatient and nudged Yu Tian, who was resting with his eyes closed on a flat stone: "Big Brother, let me go look! It should be here~~ How could I be mistaken?"
"Then why can't we see it now?" Yu Tian adjusted himself and slowly stood up.
"Aw..."
Water called out, a sound that served as a warning or reminder. Yu Tian lifted his head and turned to look back.
Unbeknownst to him, a stone pillar had appeared at some point in the cave's ceiling, topped with a bright red orb. A beam of light shone down on his face, and Yu Tian felt a searing heat. Fortunately, the necklace around his neck automatically formed a protective shield, safeguarding him. With the protection of the Crystal Garment and the Water Element Pearl, Yu Tian confidently approached the base of the pillar.
Water followed closely, excitedly circling around and calling out. Without thinking much, it assumed it was something fun and leaped up.
Soaring into the air, it reached out with its claws but hadn’t touched the orb before a flash of red flame erupted, striking Water's paw and spreading into its body. Water lost its strength like a bird deprived of its wings, plummeting from the sky.
Yu Tian hurried over, still worried about his brother who was not human or pre-human but rather a wolf. Initially, he intended to test what that object was himself, but perhaps Water sensed this thought and jumped in to try first.
Rushing to Water's side, he saw that its once snow-white fur had been scorched to a faint yellow-brown. Yu Tian gently stroked Water's fur with concern. Water opened its eyes and looked at Yu Tian, letting out a few low whines.
At that moment, a voice echoed through the cave. Judging by its aged and trembling tone, it belonged to the Fire Elemental Spirit: "Water Demon Wolf King! That is the Fire Refining Pearl, comparable to your Flame Spirit Pearl's abilities, but you don't know how to use it—what a pity!"
As Yu Tian scanned his surroundings, an old man with long hair appeared at the cave entrance. His hair was red and looked quite fearsome. Truly fitting for a Fire Elemental Spirit; even his hair was the color of fire. However, instead of appearing vibrant, he seemed even older and more sinister.
Yu Tian glanced at Water, which lay on the ground licking its paw—now nearly burnt to a crisp. Yet Water’s saliva seemed to have some healing properties; such severe burns were visibly recovering at an astonishing rate.
While marveling at having such a good brother, he turned back and approached the old man: "You are the Fire Elemental Spirit, right?"
Yu Tian spoke cautiously, fearing he might anger this elder. From his own observations, he sensed that this Fire Elemental Spirit's power far exceeded his own by more than tenfold; he certainly couldn't provoke such an entity. If the Fire Elemental Spirit were to become angry, it could easily annihilate him.
"Indeed! Now listen! Don't move; that's my challenge: you need to take that Fire Refining Pearl from up there and place it where I am standing now."
The body of the Water Elemental God vanished along with the sound.
When Yu Tian stepped back, Shui Er was nowhere to be found. However, he vaguely heard Shui Er's voice: "Brother Tian, be careful! I'm going out for a bit!"
Yu Tian squinted slightly and smiled.
"It feels a bit strange to call a wolf my brother! I should finish up here quickly; otherwise, Lin will be waiting impatiently!" Yu Tian thought as he approached the pillar. He examined it closely: it was a genuine stone pillar, adorned with strange patterns carved in a specific design, likely ancient script!
At that moment, Yu Tian began to worry that there might be more to his memories than he realized. He noticed that his memory recovery had stalled; it shouldn't be limited to just this.
Yu Tian circled around the "Fire Refining Pearl," scrutinizing it closely: the pearl was enveloped in a pure light red hue, measuring only about one or two centimeters in diameter, yet its energy barrier was incredibly thick. Yu Tian thought its temperature must be in the thousands. "I wonder if that necklace can withstand it?"
Using the Gale Technique, Yu Tian floated steadily upward, slowly approaching. However, a force resisted him. He set up an Earth Shield, which slightly mitigated the pressure.
Yu Tian gradually extended his hand, and a powerful energy collided with it—not heat. He tried to retract his hand, but it was too late. He was pulled in. Since he couldn't escape, he might as well test its power. Thus, Yu Tian firmly grasped the Fire Refining Pearl; an unbearable sting shot through him, stimulating every nerve.
Yu Tian felt like he was on the verge of collapse as his nerves went numb.
At that moment, a refreshing energy stimulated his nerves, and Yu Tian slowly regained consciousness. "I am the Water Element Pearl!" he seemed to hear something but quickly lost it again.
