Although temporarily disturbed by the Demon King in the Water Elemental Realm, delaying him for a while, Yu Tian successfully arrived at the Earth Elemental Realm. Faced with the Earth Spirit's challenges, Yu Tian accepted and did something he shouldn't have done. This was just the beginning of his true test, but he felt confused when confronted with a wreath even stranger than the Dream Barrier. Just when he was at a loss for ideas, Shui Er returned, sparking a new thought in Yu Tian's mind. Could he break through the barrier? What blessings would the Earth Spirit bestow?
Perhaps having already scouted resources during his wanderings, Shui Er quickly brought back some Dry Wood and presented it to Yu Tian, ready to rub against him.
"Don't, don't..." Seeing Shui Er's dirty mouth filled Yu Tian with an inexplicable fear. Shui Er let out a low whine and slowly walked to the side, lying down with its back to Yu Tian, its tail drooping as if in silent protest.
Yu Tian shook his head, feeling helpless towards this little companion. However, completing the task was still more important. He gathered all the wood and threaded them through the energy barrier. The Earth Spirit had been careless, failing to seal the entire surface. It was quite fortunate; just as he expected, those sticks easily passed through. It seemed that this barrier was ineffective against "dead" energy that couldn't flow. A thought suddenly popped into his mind: if he encountered such a barrier in the future, he would have to first put it in a deadlock before finding a way out.
He cast a small fire magic spell, igniting the wood on both sides with high-temperature flames. At first, the energy barrier resisted and absorbed the flames continuously, but soon it began to shake violently. The absorbed energy was clearly unusable; the entire wreath turned red and was on the verge of catching fire. Just like that, what once seemed like an impenetrable barrier had its energy quickly depleted. The flames gradually extinguished, and the starlight was blown away by the wind.
However, Yu Tian's earlier smile froze: he saw that the energy barrier, which had just disappeared, reemerged and began absorbing the heat from the wood again, swirling and rotating as if taunting him.
"What am I supposed to do now?" Yu Tian began to feel frustrated. Success was within reach; he had almost grasped it but lost it at the last moment. Who wouldn't feel flustered in such a situation? Especially someone like the God of Black Holes who was eager to return home.
At that moment, seeing his brother's troubled expression and his heavy footsteps possibly disturbing Shui Er's sleep, it wagged its tail and turned back to ask, "Brother Tian! What's wrong? Is there anything I can help with?"
"Nothing! It's just that this energy barrier is really hard to break!" Yu Tian was lost in his thoughts and barely acknowledged Shui Er's presence, simply responding dismissively.
Shui Er slowly stood up, lifted its large wolf head, swept its tail across the ground before sitting down again and said, "Let me handle this... The Earth Spirit has gone off to play alone; why leave this 'Earth Spirit' here as an energy barrier?"
"What is this Earth Spirit? Do you have a way?" Yu Tian asked curiously. Shui Er referred to this barrier as an Earth Spirit! This wasn't just any barrier! Yu Tian immediately dismissed his own thoughts. Since it wasn't merely a barrier, it seemed he had no choice but to seek help from Shui Er who knew more about it! With that realization, his tense expression relaxed as he offered Shui Er a kind smile.
"Don't do that... Big Brother... I know all about it! The Earth Spirit just left a bit of energy behind, right? Since it's not here and can't replenish its energy, I'll just eat it!" Shui Er said as she began to circle around the flower wreath, clearly waiting for her brother's command to pounce.
"Eat it? Shui Er, can you really do that?" Yu Tian asked, puzzled. Back in the Fire Elemental Realm, it was Shui Er's disobedience that led her to confront the Fire Elemental Pearl, resulting in her being heavily injured. As the older brother, Yu Tian didn't want to see that happen again, so he wasn't about to give a reckless order without considering Shui Er's safety.
"Trust me!" Before Yu Tian could issue a command, Shui Er floated over. She couldn't stand her brother's overly cautious nature, and besides, she had her own plan in mind. Flying next to the Earth Spirit, she opened her mouth wide and prepared to swallow it whole. The energy barrier showed no reaction and did not absorb any energy. Clearly, Shui Er knew what she was doing; her mouth expanded instantly, engulfing the wreath and the Earth Spirit before shrinking back down as she slowly descended.
"Be careful, Shui Er!" Yu Tian's warning was cut short as Shui Er had already swallowed the thing.
"I know!" Shui Er called back after hearing Yu Tian's voice. Not long after, she turned around. Her abdomen had swollen somewhat; it seemed that the Earth Spirit was quite stubborn.
Looking at Shui Er's bulging belly and recalling what she had told him about the Water Demon Wolf, Yu Tian chuckled to himself, "How much weight did she gain this time?"
However, it wasn't long before Shui Er called out to Yu Tian again, pulling him from his thoughts. It turned out that the person who had assigned them the task had returned. They spoke of testing wisdom, but it seemed more like a test of courage instead.
The ridiculous form of the Earth Spirit reappeared on the mud platform. "Kid, you got lucky this time, but you need to experience this kind of pain!" The Earth Spirit was truly heartless! Shui Er had already endured its torment on behalf of Yu Tian, and now it wanted Yu Tian to "experience" it too.
"Stop..." Yu Tian didn't want to suffer any more unnecessary pain, even though he knew this path would be fraught with challenges. Personally, he felt that avoiding trouble when possible was true wisdom.
The Earth Spirit waved its hand, casting a beam of light onto Shui Er. Surprisingly, she didn't dodge; it seemed the Earth Spirit was indeed tormenting her. A hint of displeasure stirred within Yu Tian.
A small brownish mass was pulled from Shui Er's body. It wasn't large but looked extremely disgusting. Was this really what they called the Earth Spirit? Yu Tian wondered; there hadn't been anything like that on the wreath originally.
"Since you've used this method, you must try it yourself; this is the 'Earth Spirit'!" With those words from the Earth Spirit, that mass entered Yu Tian's body. He caught a whiff of a strange odor—fishy and somewhat foul.
"What exactly is this 'Earth Spirit'?" Yu Tian watched as it slowly slipped down his throat.
It was truly an unappealing thing, resembling rotten fish...
Could Yu Tian endure it? To be continued in the next chapter. Thank you all for your support... There will be no interruptions! Planning to release four updates soon...
