In the endless cosmic starry sky, a massive spaceship soared at an unimaginable speed towards a region known as B1T2 in the Galaxy. Here, scientists were filled with many questions. This newly discovered area was comparable to a black hole. 0

Based on observed cosmic rays and various light data, scientists speculated that there existed another type of high-density material, commonly referred to as Dark Matter. However, the data showed some discrepancies, leading to a slight deviation in the course of the Dream Seeker II. 0

Reynold marked another cross on his experimental record. Before this, there had already been seven crosses. He then gazed steadily at the First Officer, Kris. This thawing was only temporary; they had signed an agreement with the government to conduct this experiment in secrecy and undergo complete memory erasure. 0

Reynold knew he was trying hard to regulate his emotions, hoping to find a better explanation. Yet everything felt so difficult. In preparation for this experiment, he had undergone three months of intense knowledge infusion before departure. He could analyze that Kris's physiological condition changed as they approached this star region. 0

He truly wanted to conceal this fact but thought it might be another crucial factor in the experiment. His gaze toward Kris turned somewhat pitying. 0

Indeed, for five consecutive days, Reynold monitored the entire ship's surveillance system. From the first detection of abnormal brainwaves, he immediately began constant tracking, of course with Kris's permission. Initially, he only provided Kris with a vague conclusion. 0

Multiple data analyses indicated that Kris's physiology was indeed affected by some external force. Yet Kris himself felt nothing—perhaps it was the so-called "the observer is blinded by their own involvement," Reynold mused. This heavyweight figure from CRB was vital for the entire ship. Apart from Kris's agile mind, his explosive capabilities had once earned him great respect from the military. But now he appeared somewhat dispirited, which was a very bad omen. 0

Reynold chose to speak face-to-face with Kris because he felt responsible for ensuring every crew member's well-being. When he initially agreed to participate in this experiment, he had his doubts; some claimed that this star region harbored dangerous planets or unknown lethal rays. However, several scientific leaders strongly hinted at how important this experiment was and how rare such long-distance interstellar travel could be. 0

Reynold remembered when selecting members for this flight; Kris stood out as exceptionally talented. He could perform rapid mental calculations and quickly memorize unrelated data. He could predict situations based on real-time conditions and possessed an advanced ability to resist temptation. 0

Yet now it seemed perilous; Reynold knew that Kris might be ill or facing an even more serious situation: the chaotic rays in this area were affecting his nerves or consciousness. 0

"Has something changed in me?" Kris wondered, feeling a bit perplexed by the captain's complex expression. 0

"Well, brother, to be frank, uh... all the tests indicate that your abilities and consciousness have been affected to varying degrees. I'm not just guessing here; after days of monitoring, I've found your brainwave data to be extremely unstable. Sometimes, the patterns don't even resemble those of a... a person..." Dr. S took a deep breath, not wanting to sound so serious, but he couldn't help it. 0

Reynold sensed that Kris seemed lost in thought. He predicted that even if the First Officer's illness was cured, it would severely impact his future state. Damage to the cerebral cortex was notoriously difficult to repair. 0

Reynold felt compelled to voice his concerns. "You should pay attention; I think something must be wrong with you, or perhaps it's some psychological pressure..." During training, Reynold had learned a great deal about psychology; it was essential for uniting the crew and solving problems together. If something were to happen to Kris, as captain, he would inevitably bear some responsibility. 0

Kris pondered this. He knew the captain had no reason to exaggerate the severity of the situation; he just felt that he was still doing well. He could clearly categorize the planets flying past outside and remember many experimental data points. However, he had to take the captain's words seriously. As First Officer, he bore a tremendous responsibility: assisting the captain and successfully completing their mission. 0

Unable to endure the prolonged silence any longer, Kris turned his head aside. "Do you remember the Arctic people from long ago? They used the local ice and snow for shelter and lived happily in such a barren place. If I could get some information from there, I would be willing to stay and continue my research. Personally, I feel that this information is starting to emerge..." Kris paused for a moment. "To be honest, I don't want to end the experiment now; we haven't delved deep enough..." 0

These words did not surprise Reynold. 0

"But don't you consider the safety of the other crew members? If they were to die in their sleep during the experiment, wouldn't that be tragic?" Reynold countered. As captain, ensuring the safety of his crew was also a significant responsibility. 0

"And have you considered the dangers posed by other planets? This star region is filled with countless comets—small ones that pose a huge threat to our ship..." Reynold shouted at Kris. 0

At that moment, Kris looked like a wilted cucumber, his head hanging low—like a child who had done something wrong, accepting the captain's reprimand. 0

He seemed somewhat aggrieved as he said, "It feels like there's an invisible force pulling me toward that area; my instincts tell me something miraculous will happen there. I can't completely resist this temptation—or maybe it's not even temptation; it's more like guidance that aligns perfectly with my thoughts. I can't help but want to pursue it. Besides, our experiments have made no progress; can we really afford to waste this rare opportunity?" 0

"Very good, you finally spoke up, but can you tell me what power is guiding you?" Reynold was quite pleased with Kris's honesty. 0

"It's hard to say clearly; maybe it's an illusion, or perhaps I'm just too tired..." 0
