Black Abyss resembled the throat of a demon, attempting to swallow all life. The green fields were like a fairy tale world from centuries ago, full of vitality and nurturing miracles...
In order to find the special clues, Hong Lickqi had only this one choice. Even though the light within the cave possessed a powerful lethality, he had to lead his soldiers into the depths for exploration...
This place was engulfed in endless darkness. Dozens of Beast Soldiers crowded tightly on a half-meter-wide staircase. Under Hong Lickqi's unique **, these Beast Soldiers had developed excellent combat qualities. This was precisely why Hong Lickqi had specifically chosen this group of soldiers. If these Half-Orcs could endure until the end, they would become true personal guards.
As the leader, Hong did not hesitate. Even if it was a trap, to gain the soldiers' loyalty and win the hearts of the people, just as his father had taught him: at the beginning, one must stand at the forefront of danger personally; once recognition is gained, loyal supporters will take over that position.
Step by step, Hong Lickqi cautiously led the way ahead. Thanks to the special illumination of the staircase, there was no need for torches or magical lights, making it much easier for the beasts. After all, with such limited space, any additional heat source would be quite uncomfortable. Moreover, with so many people stumbling around, retreating would be difficult.
As they delved deeper, the staircase indeed began to change. Previously made of ordinary stone blocks, this staircase now glowed with luminescence.
“Young Master... what material is this? Could it be pure Energy Crystal?” one of the Beast Soldiers beside Hong asked curiously.
“This? Perhaps it’s Glowing Stone...” Hong replied uncertainly. Since the stones here merely emitted light, they should pose no harm!
It turned out that previous speculations were merely unfounded fears; it was simply an automatic transformation of the temple. Since changes had occurred, it meant something must have happened within this structure... With this thought in mind, Hong Lickqi no longer treaded carefully and boldly rushed into the depths of the cave!
The beasts quickly followed suit...
With the guidance of light this time, Hong Lickqi and his team soon reached the end of the corridor. This time, it was no longer narrow; it had transformed into a grand hall capable of accommodating hundreds of people. Upon closer inspection of the ground, one could see traces of movement on the surrounding stone walls.
“Young Master... I’ve been here before! How did it change like this... Could we have taken a wrong turn?” a squad leader asked curiously, though he clearly saw the marks left by moving stones. It was just...
The space felt so unreal, as if the walls, which were tangible, automatically expanded when approached. This meant that the area was nearly limited to a size that could not be observed from outside the temple.
"The only explanation is that magic has been cast here!" replied a Reference Officer, who still knew a thing or two. The Reference Officer was an official managing affairs among every ten Beast Soldiers, having undergone a certain level of Enlightenment as a Half-Orc. They possessed more knowledge than ordinary soldiers and could provide insights based on the situation, akin to a military strategist or advisor.
After searching the space for a moment, the beasts finally discovered that one section of the stone wall did not yield to pressure. Hong Lickqi immediately walked up to that solid wall and stood still.
"It seems this is the old wall from before..." another Reference Officer said right away. He stood beside Hong Lickqi, making this remark merely to draw attention. However, this Half-Orc seemed to have done well, receiving not only a nod of agreement from Hong but also a smile of appreciation from the Young Master. Such a simple gesture had captivated this Half-Orc, who had previously hoped to gain attention in the same way but found past administrators to be indifferent. It was unexpected that the son of the Beast King was so gentle; it seemed he would have to strive hard for this.
"Brothers, even if it means climbing mountains of blades or crossing seas of fire... we will stand with the Young Master, our future king... who will surely lead us to glory!!!" This Reference Officer suddenly shouted, and upon hearing his passionate speech, the other Beast Soldiers were once again filled with fervor, responding loudly:
"Yes..."
"Climbing mountains of blades..."
"Crossing seas of fire... together..." Even those beasts who did not quite understand the language echoed loudly.
With sixty mouths in this enclosed space, their voices were amplified thousands of times, far louder than in the ravines near the Demon God Barrier. The ground began to tremble, and the beasts' eardrums tightened.
"Quiet down... I understand your feelings..." Hong Lickqi was aware of their intentions but felt that the timing was not right for actions contrary to his father's wishes. Even as the sole son of the king, he was reluctant to fall out with his father...
"Yes... we know... Young Master..." The spirits of the beasts were marked with an imprint: from now on, this young man would be their king. Even if they could not express it openly, they could always whisper it among themselves for what lay ahead...
"Alright... now let's see if we can find a way to open this wall... but for now, let's avoid damaging this building; otherwise, we won't be able to escape..." Hong Lickqi quietly advised. At this moment, he could not demand loudly from his subordinates. Even reprimands would have to wait until they were completely "tamed."
"Um..." At that moment, as the various teams' Reference Officers issued commands, each Beast Soldier pulled out their tools—great hammers, bayonets, steel rods, spiked clubs, and star-moon hammers. Of course, these are just the names I personally chose; I initially hoped to come up with unique titles, but that would require further explanation, which might be too much for everyone to handle! So here, I used familiar terms for similar-shaped implements, primarily made of rough iron and unrefined copper.
Suddenly, the air was filled with the sounds of clashing. Hong Lickqi took on the role of an inspector, observing from the side. Due to the noise being too loud, he even conjured a small magic circle to block out the piercing sound waves.
"Bang bang..."
"Clang clang..."
"Chirp chirp..."
...
Various cacophonous noises filled this small stone cave. Perhaps it couldn't even be called a small cave; it was an endless expanse. If this magic were cast by the legendary King of Hell, it could potentially expand this space to the size of the entire universe.
After a long time, there was not a hint of dust or debris... Aside from the noise, nothing had happened—not even a tiny chip of stone had been scraped off.
"This... this... Young Master... we..." The Reference Officer timidly approached Hong Lickqi and spoke. At this moment, they encountered something beyond their strength and had no choice but to seek help from their superiors; otherwise, it would simply be a waste of time and might lead to criticism from above. Trained specifically for this role, he remembered all the rules and awaited his chance to rise from an ordinary Beast Soldier to a high-ranking officer or become a Demon Guardian.
"Alright, let's have everyone pause for now... I'll take it from here..." Hong Lickqi understood the situation well; he knew it was time for him to step in. At this moment, the abilities of the beasts were still not very strong; they couldn't make excessive demands yet. Otherwise, the trust they had just established would quickly dissipate.
Under his command, the beasts quickly ceased their actions. They were still quite agile and recognized their shortcomings; thus, they obediently followed orders! So they quietly held their tools—"weapons"—and stood aside with their heads bowed.
Hong Lickqi signaled for everyone to quiet down. He strode confidently to the wall, gathered energy, summoned his magic staff, recited an incantation, and prepared to use the Demon Clan Secret Technique "Sky Eye." To his surprise, he was able to see what was happening inside the Secret Chamber.
"Quick, break down this wall!" Hong Lickqi commanded, a hint of agitation in his voice. The beasts around him froze in shock, trembling despite their larger size. They knew that if their Young Master used magic, they stood little chance against it.
"Understood!" One of the Reference Officers stepped forward, channeling Magical Energy into the wall.
However, nothing unusual happened. Even without brute force, magic seemed ineffective against this impenetrable barrier.
"Young Master! This wall appears to be made from Water Crystal and may be connected to Void Space. It’s difficult to break through. Unless we find a way to unlock it..." The Reference Officer pondered for a long time before attempting to offer advice to his Young Master.
"Alright! Then go search for it. Search this corridor thoroughly; I refuse to believe we can't find anything!" Over two hundred Beast Soldiers began scouring the thousands of steps, while Hong Lickqi remained fixated on the wall.
"When will I ever get to return to Earth, even if just for a moment?" He sighed, overwhelmed by memories of the beautiful moments he had there.
After an unknown amount of time, one Reference Officer was finally pushed forward to report: "Young Master! There’s nothing here, just stones. We’ve searched every step, but truly found nothing."
The Reference Officer repeated his statement, bringing Hong Lickqi back to reality. However, he hadn’t clearly heard what the Reference Officer said and asked, "What?"
"Young Master! We didn’t discover anything!" The Reference Officer's response was concise; he sensed that the Young Master was feeling conflicted and decided it was best not to disturb him further.
"Then let’s head back!" Without much thought, Hong Lickqi was the first to turn and walk away.
"What’s wrong with the Young Master?" the Beast Soldiers wondered as they followed him out.
