"Is it really you back?" As the Saintess, she sensed a strange energy in the house and chose not to express too much warmth.
"Yes!" Hearing Lin's voice coming from upstairs, Yu Tian hurried to the staircase and quickly ran up. Shui Er thought her brother had another sibling besides herself, so she secretly followed behind him.
As Yu Tian climbed a few steps, he saw Lin bouncing out of her room, more accurately, she was leaping out while wearing an apron from cooking. He immediately quickened his pace, taking three steps at a time until he reached Lin's side, pulling her tightly into his embrace. It had been a long time since he felt this way. It was a sense of belonging.
"Lin, did you miss me?" Holding Lin close, Yu Tian felt that all dangers were far away from him; the past dangers seemed like a dream.
"Of course I missed you!" Lin suddenly broke free from Yu Tian's arms and playfully punched his chest while pouting. "But I'm also mad at you! You said you'd be gone for just half a day, yet you disappeared for over half a year!"
"I'm sorry... I didn't know it would turn out this way. The time there is different from here! I didn't realize it at first; if I had known, I wouldn't have gone... Do you know how much I've missed you?" Yu Tian held Lin again, gently stroking her shoulder.
"Hmph! If you keep this up, I might just ignore you!" Lin pouted again, but it was clear she wasn't truly angry anymore.
"This time, I went to another world—a series of Otherworlds. It was desolate but very peaceful. I wanted to tell you about it but was afraid you'd worry..." Yu Tian tightened his embrace around Lin; he feared losing her!
"Otherworld? Why didn't you tell me? Am I really that petty? You really don't understand women..." Lin seemed genuinely happy but still felt a bit wronged, sighing and pretending to be aggrieved.
"Lin, you're the Saintess, aren't you?" Yu Tian had sensed this long ago, especially during his search for the Otherworlds when he discovered the distribution of Kadar Planet. He also learned that his divine lineage might still have descendants; however, that area was sealed, and he currently didn't know how to break it. He felt a gentle energy emanating from Lin and knew there was a Sanctuary beneath Heavenly Kadar.
"Yes," Lin lowered her head, appearing somewhat at a loss. She had wanted to tell Yu Tian for a long time but found it hard to say; she feared it would affect the one she loved.
"Then why didn't you tell me?" Yu Tian asked gently but firmly.
"Isn't it because you deceived me? Just when I wanted to tell you, you vanished for over half a year!" Lin spun a beautiful lie.
"Then let me make amends!" Yu Tian pressed his lips against Lin's in a tender kiss while his hands began to move uncontrollably from her back...
At that moment, Shui Er, who had been quietly watching from the corner without making a sound, was puzzled by what her older brother was doing. She saw him with another person, their mouths close together, and thought something strange was happening. Suddenly, she let out a loud howl.
"Hey, where did that dog come from?" Lin's attention was drawn to Shui Er. She gently pushed Yu Tian's hand aside and looked behind him.
A snow-white dog! That was the first thought that crossed Lin's mind, followed by a marvel at how pristine the dog looked, almost unreal. With a little effort, she wriggled free from Yu Tian's embrace and ran towards Shui Er. At that moment, Shui Er was also a bit stunned, watching as a beautiful girl approached her without making any move.
"Her name is Shui Er; I brought her back from the Otherworld!" Yu Tian noticed that Lin wasn't afraid of Shui Er and seemed genuinely interested, which relieved him; otherwise, it would have been another troublesome situation.
"A wolf?" Lin abruptly halted her outstretched hand, preparing to pet Shui Er.
"Don't be afraid; she's quite obedient!" Seeing Lin's hesitation, he quickly reassured her. At the same time, he commanded Shui Er: Don't move at all; just listen to her! Shui Er felt a bit resentful but swallowed it down and decided to play the role of a good wolf.
Only then did Lin gently start to stroke her.
"My goodness, how did you get her from the Otherworld?" Lin squatted down and began to engage in various affectionate gestures with Shui Er, nearly leaning in for a kiss. Yu Tian felt a bit jealous; he couldn't understand why he felt envious of a wolf.
"Oh... I met her in the Water Elemental Realm; the Water Demon Wolf King insisted on coming with me, so I brought her along!" Yu Tian explained. Shui Er felt somewhat disgruntled, as if she were just tagging along without contributing anything... She immediately made a toothy grin at Yu Tian but made sure Lin didn't see it; she was afraid it would scare Lin away and ruin her comfortable massage.
"Is she really powerful then?" Lin asked Yu Tian after learning that Shui Er was a wolf king.
"Yeah! Lin, she can even read your thoughts!" Yu Tian said before realizing he had revealed too much too soon.
"Then..." Lin's face flushed. Clearly, there was something embarrassing about this revelation. Seeing this reaction, Yu Tian didn't press her for more information.
"What's wrong, Lin?" However, he felt that they couldn't just sit in silence. If they did, it might lead to an awkward pause; if Shui Er couldn't stand the quietness, who knows what mischief she might cause.
"Nothing; it's just a bit warm!" Lin replied awkwardly as she shook off her flushed face.
"Enough talk; Shui Er, let's go get you something to eat!" Lin said as she picked up Shui Er and headed downstairs.
At that moment, Shui Er was only the size of a small puppy. Otherwise, if she were half a meter tall, Lin would never dare to approach her. Shui Er, of course, was enjoying herself, staying obediently in Lin's arms, occasionally rubbing her soft and warm head against her.
"What about me?" Seeing Lin refer to herself as Shui Er's mother while forgetting about him made Yu Tian shout in urgency.
"Come with me; there's food for you!" Lin said proudly, as if she were a queen. Yu Tian couldn't help but feel a bit unwilling—why had he lost to a wolf?
Yu Tian followed awkwardly behind, while Shui Er called out to him playfully, as if laughing heartily.
Seeing Yu Tian's expression, Lin smiled happily and comforted him, "Tian, let's eat first. After we finish eating, I have a surprise to tell you..."
"What surprise?"
"If I tell you, it won't be a surprise anymore..." Lin deliberately slipped into the kitchen and began to busy herself.
Yu Tian felt a bit puzzled. What could the surprise be?
"Whatever it is, I'll find out sooner or later..."
Unable to figure it out, he also walked into the kitchen to lend a hand.
