Yu Tian, having been demoted to the role of an assistant, had no choice but to help in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Water Demon Wolf sat arrogantly on a cushion that Lin had arranged for her. Yu Tian looked at Water Demon Wolf and weakly shook his head.
"You’re something else... I was worried you’d cause trouble, and now you’ve made everything a mess. Do you still see me as your big brother?" Yu Tian asked while chopping vegetables, glancing at Water Demon Wolf who was washing her face.
"Hey? Big brother, how can you blame me for this? I did exactly what you said and didn’t do anything at all... Seriously, what do you want me to do?" Water Demon Wolf replied playfully.
"You’re ruthless... Look at what I’m preparing for you," Yu Tian said, but then remembered that Water Demon Wolf didn’t actually need to eat. He felt helpless.
"I knew you would think that. I can skip meals, but will your goddess allow you to do that?" Water Demon Wolf teased, calling out softly to Lin. Lin quickly came over, cooing "Good girl" and patting her head while saying things like "I’ll make you something delicious." This left Yu Tian with no choice but to bury his head in his work, cutting vegetables in silence. It was truly a tragedy.
Originally, the robots could handle all of this, but Lin was picky about the food they prepared; she found it unnatural and unappetizing. So she insisted that Yu Tian cook himself. This was actually his forte; after all those years of being single, he had always cooked for himself. There were hotels and inns in this era, but they were extremely expensive.
After spending over an hour, he finally finished cooking all the dishes with the help of the robots. A sumptuous dinner was served on the rooftop where they could see the dazzling starry sky. Even though the sky was no longer calm and clouds obscured the unknown darkness, it was only on Earth that one could enjoy the rhythm of life inherent in existence.
Lin held Water Demon Wolf close as if she were a doll. Water Demon Wolf seemed delighted, constantly cuddling up to Lin and licking her hand while rubbing against her arm and neck. Lin responded with gentle strokes and affectionate kisses. Yu Tian couldn’t bear to watch any longer and exclaimed loudly:
"Lin, watch your hygiene!!!"
Water Demon Wolf momentarily froze but quickly realized from Lin's sudden change in expression that Yu Tian had spoken ill of her. She shot him a glare before quietly snuggling into Lin’s warm embrace.
"I know… don’t be so harsh on me…" Lin said gently as she noticed Yu Tian’s raised voice and slight irritation.
"Alright, alright… sigh!" Yu Tian sighed to himself. In this era, there should be a high degree of freedom and equality, yet the inherent differences between men and women sometimes led to obvious inequalities.
Yu Tian obediently set the table and pulled out two chairs from the rooftop storage room. He initially wanted to sit next to Lin while eating, but she insisted on sitting across from him.
Lin had actually prepared everything long ago; she had been waiting for over a year for Yu Tian to return. It was easy to imagine how much she had missed him. Although Dr. S had brought along several assistants or female researchers to chat with Lin, during the late hours of the night, she always felt that the darkness stretched endlessly. Now seeing him sitting across from her with a slightly defiant expression made her feel infinitely better than sitting alone. The starry sky remained unchanged, but people had changed...
"Tian... can you tell me about your experiences?" Lin asked after staring at Yu Tian for a long time. When their gazes intertwined, she turned her face away and spoke.
"If you want to hear it, of course I can..." Yu Tian began recounting his journey—how he had worked with Dr. S to find information about the Magic Sanctuary in ancient Greek texts.
He then described how he and the doctor used various mechanical devices to finally discover an Ark at an altitude of over ten thousand meters in the Himalayas. Inside it lay a Magic Totem adorned with intricate patterns that represented profound magical languages. With Little Ru's help, they unraveled its mysteries. The totem contained much information about how to deactivate the Crystal Chip's magic. Alongside this narrative, he briefly explained the mysterious crystal card he carried in his pocket—the small Crystal Fragment still lay quietly there; however, at this moment it was just a simple Crystal Chip with its images and text faded away...
Yu Tian handed the Crystal Chip to Lin. Upon seeing it, her eyes changed slightly as she examined it closely; indeed, it was just as he described.
"Can you believe it? I have an identical Crystal Chip, but I entrusted it to my mother for safekeeping. It was a treasured heirloom she gave me. I don't know how to use it, but I know it's very important, which is why I didn't bring it with me. Look, right here, yours has a raised circle while mine has a recessed one. She quickly smiled at him, eager for his response. At that moment, Shui Er was still nestled in Lin's arms, listening to the story and sleeping soundly.
"We deciphered the secret of the totem and learned that many beings from the divine and demonic races came to Earth. They brought with them a wealth of architectural culture, but due to magical seals, they lost their ability to use magic. However, with their great wisdom, they exploited Earthlings' thirst for knowledge and claimed dominion over certain areas, calling themselves gods..." As he spoke, Yu Tian glanced at Lin.
"So that's how religions were born..." Lin nodded. "Let's get back on track..."
"We followed the magical language inscribed on the totem and broke the curse on the Crystal Chip, which saved Earth from destruction. However, using that magic caused the Himalayas to rise by 1,000 meters. Dr. S reassured me that everything was fine, so I continued following the instructions above and discovered several methods for using the Crystal Chip. After countless attempts, we finally pinpointed a location—a lakeside—and with Dr. S's help, we confirmed it. If we hadn't mobilized all our resources and information correctly, one misstep could have triggered severe tectonic movements, potentially leading to another year of earthquakes. Then..." Yu Tian paused to chew on a piece of ham.
"Come on... what happened next?" Lin put down her chopsticks and looked at Yu Tian eagerly.
"Of course we succeeded! Otherwise, how could I be here in such good spirits to see you?" Yu Tian added a piece of meat to Lin's bowl.
At that moment, Shui Er suddenly leaped up; he had initially intended to avoid such low-quality food but couldn't resist the tempting aroma!
"Get away!!!" Yu Tian shouted, but Shui Er had already popped a piece of meat into his mouth and was chewing contentedly.
"Never mind... hasn't he been hungry for a while?" Lin quickly defended Shui Er and offered him another piece of meat, which he devoured in one bite.
"He hasn't eaten anything at all..." Yu Tian realized his status had dropped significantly; now there were three beings at the table including the wolf. Sigh!
"Then let him eat," Lin said with authority as Shui Er immediately jumped onto the table and crouched beside her, pointing at the food with his paw while Lin served him.
The dinner scene with this couple and their wolf felt lively and warm...
After finishing their meal, Lin insisted on taking Yu Tian out for a walk with "the dog," leaving the robotic housekeeper to clean up.
Yu Tian repeatedly reminded her that Shui Er was a wolf, but Lin insisted on treating him like a dog. Shui Er enjoyed being petted so much that he showed no signs of protest.
Yu Tian went along with Lin's wishes while she praised him a few times.
"The Saintess is really something else!" Yu Tian sighed quietly as he followed behind her.
The three of them made their way to the waterfall behind the house, splashing around and playing in the water.
The moonlight poured down like water, quietly illuminating the ground. Even though the Moon Palace had been replaced by forbidden structures, it still shone as brilliantly as it had for millennia.
Lin suddenly stopped, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. She took out a shimmering pearl and walked over to Yu Tian; it was her Holy Pearl.
She placed the pearl in Yu Tian's palm, her heartbeat clearly erratic as she said, "Heaven, this Holy Pearl is of no use to me now. I’m already carrying your child... This is the surprise I wanted to give you..."
"Am I really going to be a father?" It was only then that he noticed Lin's slight swelling; he had thought she had just gained weight from overeating, but now it was clear...
"Yes, it's been over nine months!" Lin's voice was soft, yet it gently pierced Yu Tian's heart.

Lin's smile froze, but she forced a smile and said, "It's okay..." A few clear tears glimmered in the moonlight.
Yu Tian embraced Lin, letting time slip away.
"Lin... no matter what happens, you must live well and not get involved anymore!" Yu Tian silently hoped.
Shui Er quietly lay by the spring, watching everything unfold...
