Through archaeological literature and various clues, Ding Ze discovered a site of Ancient Human Cave Paintings. The symbols depicted in the murals matched the design of the Mysterious Amulet on his wrist. What could a modern person learn from ancient humans? Ding Ze was uncertain; he too was seeking answers. He also realized that this ancient tribe was quite primitive. Yet, the Amulet was powerful.
After pursuing the murals and clues, Ding Ze found that his Amulet was left by beings from another world, referred to as aliens in the language of Nordo City. In the language of Silent City, they were called Otherworldly Creatures. The Force Alliance referred to them as otherworldly primates. The existence of the Force was not exclusive to the Eternal Sphere; human history in the Eternal Sphere was far shorter compared to that of the Force.
Ding Ze speculated through the murals that this tribe had encountered beings from another realm, and the strength of these Otherworldly Creatures left a profound impression on them. They revered them as gods and designated their treasures as their tribe's Sacred Relic, using their symbols as totems. In Misty Deep Valley, Ding Ze found further clues; important documents were left behind by the Otherworldly Creatures.
The existence of these Otherworldly Creatures was known to the Eternal Sphere. Two hundred years ago, Silent City successfully summoned a Phantom Beast from this other realm. This realm could be considered the most powerful Otherworldly Creatures known to the Eternal Sphere. The Phantom Beast informed its summoner that people on this planet had long surpassed primitive limitations thousands of years ago; everyone could cultivate Force, and everyone was a warrior. However, due to this, conflicts on the planet never ceased, with each war leaving scars on it. Eventually, the planet could no longer withstand the frequent Force wars among billions of people, causing it to drift off its orbit towards a sun-like star. Before its destruction, they realized their precious Phantom Beast had to be sent away through a magical array while they themselves could not leave and thus faced annihilation.
Ding Ze, possessing extraordinary memory, recalled a book he had read years ago and partially deciphered the documents left by the Otherworldly Creatures inscribed on stone walls. This Otherworldly Creature was a hero from another realm—a supreme being who earnestly persuaded various factions to remain calm and not initiate wars lightly. He sensed nature's anger towards war's destruction and even used underhanded methods to prevent a conflict. Afterward, this hero was besieged by many; before his execution, he entered the Void Realm where he gained new powers, becoming a god-like entity known as the Poet. He referred to himself as an Interstellar Wanderer and gifted an Amulet to his tribespeople as their Sacred Relic—the same Mysterious Amulet that Ding Ze wore.
Upon arriving at this place, Ding Ze's Mysterious Amulet emitted light. After meditating here for half a month, he encountered the still-living Interstellar Wanderer. The Wanderer had a large white beard and a triangular face with three mouths—two for eyes and one for a mouth—without ears or a nose.
When the Wanderer appeared and looked at the Amulet, he told Ding Ze that it belonged to him. Ding Ze returned the Amulet to him. The Wanderer curiously asked why he did not keep it. Ding Ze replied that it was his possession; since he needed it, it should naturally be returned to him, especially since he had given it to his tribe. He explained to Cui Ming and others that this was due to severe withdrawal symptoms after running out of smoke; at that moment, he felt disheartened and somewhat depressed.
The Wanderer took back the Amulet and asked Ding Ze what he could do for him since he had returned it.
Ding Ze's response led him into over two years of energy cultivation training. The Wanderer informed Ding Ze that energy is the most fundamental substance in the universe and also its most complex form. Energy exists in various forms throughout the cosmos; some are easily grasped by humans while others are beyond human comprehension—even for him.
Ding Ze proved highly suitable for further energy cultivation. The Wanderer imparted knowledge about controllable energy to him, guiding Ding Ze step by step in purifying his own energy. Since human bodies can only withstand limited energy, increasing its purity is essential for enhancing its power—similar to alcohol; one can only consume a limited amount of liquid at once, but increasing its concentration allows for greater intake.
This process of refining energy was quite painful; Ding Ze endured backlash from Force but completed this challenge with extraordinary willpower. After more than two years of training, he not only evolved his ability to transform energy but also developed his own understanding and perspective on energy. The Wanderer occasionally returned to communicate with him in Eternal Sphere and believed he had made significant progress—similar to entering Six Elements—indicating that further gradual improvement would require time without blind training; otherwise, adverse effects would occur due to inability to endure.
When parting ways, the Wanderer asked Ding Ze if he regretted returning the Amulet. Ding Ze answered affirmatively. The Wanderer appreciated this honesty and handed back the Amulet while telling Ding Ze that if possible, before his death, he should return it to Misty Deep Valley.
Ding Ze stayed for another month before finally leaving this place and returning to the human world.
Upon arriving in the human realm, Ding Ze immediately encountered the Force Report. Compared to others, Ding Ze was influenced by the moral taboos instilled by his noble upbringing, such as refraining from robbery. With no money to his name, Ding Ze did not resort to the same desperate measures as Cui Ming and Feng, who sought to profit from the Nobles. Instead, he returned to Twilight City through train-hopping, walking, and stealing food. He then secretly boarded a ship, traveling all the way to Divine Island and finally reaching Hero City.
What is high-purity energy? Ding Ze attempted to explain it, but everyone struggled to understand since they had never experienced the energy he possessed. Eventually, Ding Ze grew tired of explaining and simply said, "When calm oil meets calm water, they create this effect." He added that a single type of energy lacks power; for instance, the energy from the Void does not destroy it. However, when a person enters the Void, a reaction occurs—Void Energy reacts like hot oil meeting cold water until the cold water evaporates.
The three exchanged glances, and Li Qing directly asked, "So are you really strong now?"
Ding Ze thought for a moment before replying, "My strength has doubled."
"That's good enough," Li Qing and Cui Ming scoffed at Ding Ze. There was no need for such elaborate explanations; he could simply say he was much stronger than before.
Only Li Qing and Cui Ming made this remark because over the past three years, both had made significant progress. Although Li Qing's Force equivalent had not increased much, his combat skills and Zen martial arts had greatly enhanced his abilities. He was no longer just a meat shield but had become a formidable fighter. As for Cui Ming, his strength had multiplied significantly since he started from a lower base. Beiyue had already refined one and a half Greatswords, making his increased power evident. The only one who showed little improvement compared to three years ago was Mi Xiaonan.
Many people—indeed, most—find it difficult to break through or make progress after reaching a certain level. However, seeing his four teammates grow stronger inevitably left Mi Xiaonan feeling disappointed. He wanted to become stronger too; he had been trying to simplify the conversion between Force and Chakra. If he could achieve that, his Chakra equivalent would double, combined with the explosive power of a ninja—it would be terrifying.
Yet television dramas and the Balance Sect influenced him deeply. Ultimately, it was love—his affection for Mi Xiaobo—that drew him into those shows. Initially watching for Mi Xiaobo's sake, he had now become accustomed to this lifestyle like Ding Ze with his smoking habit. He celebrated their reunion with champagne and contacted Beiyue, who was also thrilled about Ding Ze's return and promised to come back in a few days for a joint celebration.
At the celebration party, Mi Xiaonan spoke little and found an excuse to slip away halfway through. Alone on the hotel rooftop, he sat high above Hero City, feeling despondent.
Unexpectedly, even on this rooftop meant for relaxation, he stumbled upon someone else. In the shadow of the sun sat a figure leaning against the railing—a woman wearing a Cowboy Hat who muttered to herself, "Damn it! I can crash while escaping; I can crash while trying to kill myself too."
Mi Xiaonan turned toward the voice in surprise. "Feng?" He hadn't heard that Feng had arrived; otherwise, Feng would have already been pulled away by Cui Ming to join Ding Ze's list.
Before Feng could react, a Masked Red-Haired Woman appeared above him on the rooftop. This area was at the top of the stairs where Feng leaned against the wall while she stood atop it with a slender sword in hand, scanning her surroundings before looking at Mi Xiaonan. "Have you seen a man?"
Mi Xiaonan's mouth dropped open; there was indeed a man right beneath her feet...
Seeing Mi Xiaonan's dazed expression, the woman snorted disdainfully before descending into the stairwell. About five seconds later, she rushed back out of the stairs upon spotting Feng lying against the side wall and took two steps back in caution. "Impressive! You come and go like the wind."
Mi Xiaonan stifled a laugh, "Sister, he's been right here all along."
The woman pointed her sword at Feng, saying, "Draw your sword."
Feng sighed helplessly, "Junior Sister, you've been chasing me for thousands of miles for years. Why bother? I'll say it again: I killed Junior Brother during our sparring match because I couldn't hold back. I admit that. But Master was not killed by me."
The Junior Sister replied, "Then I will avenge Junior Brother."
Feng Dao said, "But Junior Brother believes that I killed Master. It was our duel that led to his death. If it were me who died, would you seek revenge for me?"
The Junior Sister snorted coldly, raising her sword and declaring, "I come to kill you in the name of honor. Even if you have no honor to speak of, you must die."
Feng stood up and asked, "Can I have a minute to say my last words?"
"Sure."
"Thank you." Feng nodded and turned to shout, "Help! There's an assassin!"
The Junior Sister was furious and transformed into a streak of sword light, splitting into five forms that surrounded Feng in a fan shape...
So strong! Mi Xiaonan was astonished. She had thought the Junior Sister was amusing but didn't expect her to be this powerful. Feng drew his sword with a series of clinks as two blades pierced through him. The five forms of the Junior Sister were all real entities, akin to one person controlling five shapes. Each form aimed its sword at Feng's weaknesses from their respective positions. This wasn't the most terrifying part; what was truly frightening was that as Feng dodged and defended himself, new weaknesses would always emerge, and at that moment, one of the Junior Sisters would accurately strike with another blow.
