“Thundercloud Storm!”
Wei Chen shouted, unleashing the Fourth-Rank Beginner Soul Skill he had purchased from Fuyuan Trading Company.
Even though it was his first time using Thundercloud Storm and he had no prior opportunity to practice, he had mentally reviewed it once. For him, a Fourth-Rank Soul Technique was something he could easily release!
The Soul Power within Wei Chen condensed and surged with the Spirit of Thunder, infused with a strong electric attribute. It erupted forth, forming a sphere of lightning energy in front of him, comparable in size to the starry sea released by Wang Jian, and collided violently with it!
A thunderous roar!
At the moment of impact, a terrifying Shockwave swept outwards, flattening all buildings within a thirty-meter radius.
“Silent Extinction Finger!”
As Wei Chen released Thundercloud Storm, he retreated slightly to avoid part of the Shockwave, but still suffered from severe injuries, blood pouring from his mouth and nose.
A fierce smile appeared on Wei Chen's face as ten powerful finger strikes shot out simultaneously.
Five of them pierced through the starry sea, causing the remaining mass to explode completely. The other five strikes shot through and landed on Wang Jian.
Wang Jian looked down in disbelief at the five bloody holes in his abdomen, black blood trickling from the corner of his mouth as he grimaced, “How could you possibly unleash two high-tier Soul Techniques at the same time?”
Wei Chen wiped the blood from his face with his sleeve and replied calmly, “Because I am the Demon Lotus Successor!”
“Demon Lotus?” Wang Jian's expression turned to confusion before realization struck him. His eyes filled with terror as he stammered, “The Demon Lotus from six years ago?”
Wei Chen narrowed his eyes but said nothing more, for Wang Jian's body collapsed; he was already dead.
With the last ounce of strength, Wang Jian realized the truth; he was no match for Wei Chen, and it wasn't unjust.
Wei Chen glanced around the ruins and thought, "Fortunately, no one was hurt. The destructive power here is quite astonishing."
Not lingering any longer, Wei Chen leaped away from the scene.
Before long, a squad of city defense troops galloped in on their steeds. Upon seeing the devastation before them, the soldiers exchanged glances, wondering if two Spirit Realm experts had clashed here.
As night fell, not far from Eryuan City, a young man sat quietly in a dense forest. Soul Power gathered around him from all directions, enveloping him in a misty aura.
The boy's face was smeared with blood and dirt; his disheveled black hair hung to his shoulders, also filthy, and his tattered clothes resembled those of a beggar.
He slightly closed his eyes, exhaling foul air through his nose. A wave of heat slowly emanated from him, bringing a look of comfort to his face.
This state continued until deep into the night.
"A fully powered Fifth-Rank Soul Skill could easily take me down if I'm not careful. If that starry sea hits me, even ten of me wouldn't be enough to withstand it."
The boy opened his eyes, revealing a bitter smile; it was Wei Chen, who had been severely injured by Wang Jian's strike.
After fleeing the scene, he found a place to recuperate. Once it got dark enough, he climbed over the city wall and discovered this forest to quietly heal his wounds.
After working hard through the night, his injuries had mostly healed, and his Soul Power Realm had risen to the fourth level of Fate Soul Realm.
"Wang Jian is indeed a talent. His Stellar Martial Soul is probably one of the most formidable Martial Souls in Soul World. If he hadn't been so eager to witness my Silent Extinction Finger, I truly wouldn't have wanted to kill him."
Wei Chen thought to himself, unconsciously revealing a hint of a bitter smile at the corner of his mouth.
"I am still too weak right now. Unless I strike with lethal intent, even the Silent Extinction Finger would struggle to pose a threat to experts above the Power Realm."
"I can execute the Silent Extinction Finger with all ten fingers, but I am far from its peak state. With my current strength, my full ten-finger technique probably only has one-tenth of Donghua's power."
As Wei Chen thought about this, a shadow of gloom crossed his face. The death of Donghua remained a knot in his heart.
"How could the Sword Mountain Spirit possibly command those Tricolor Serpents to attack us? It must be Ni Junlin's doing. But Ni Junlin recognized my identity long ago; I doubt she would target Donghua."
Wei Chen furrowed his brows tightly, unable to find an answer after much contemplation.
"Zhao Yu shouldn't have any problems on her end. Her family background is decent, so her cultivation will go much smoother in the future." Wei Chen murmured, then forced a bitter smile. "If only my luck were that good and I could find my biological parents."
After a while, Wei Chen stood up and found a pond to wash off the dirt from his body, feeling incredibly refreshed.
"First, I need to improve my strength. The fourth level of Fate Soul Realm is still far from enough. That Wu Yi should have some influence in Eryuan City; the people he sends to kill me won't be weak. As for Ni Junlin, who knows where she is? Everything depends on me now."
Wei Chen sat cross-legged again and took out a Fourth-Grade Soul Stone. Feeling the astonishing Soul Power emanating from the Soul Stone, his eyes gradually became fiery with excitement.
"The Ling Sheng Dynasty truly deserves to be one of the Three Great Sacred Dynasties of the Eastern Region. Rare items like Soul Stones are hardly seen in Cloud Spirit Sect." Wei Chen examined the Soul Stone, thinking that it was worth millions of taels of silver, comparable to the beauty Qingyue from Mist Rain Tower.
"If I were to place this Soul Stone alongside Qingyue for people to choose from, I bet most men would choose Qingyue."
After pondering for a moment without further hesitation, Wei Chen tightly gripped the Soul Stone in his hand and activated the Soul Refinement Technique. The violent Soul Power surged out from the Soul Stone, entering his body through his breath and every pore, condensing within his Fate Mountain Soul.
In just a minute, Wei Chen's Fate Mountain Soul was filled with Soul Power. Once it reached a critical point, the vast Soul Power surged out from the Fate Mountain Soul, flowing through his meridians and impacting various acupoints like Zhongchong, Laogong, Daling, and Neiguan. The piercing pain once again enveloped Wei Chen's Sea of Consciousness.
This breakthrough was intense; after just a few breaths, the acupoint was shattered open, and Wei Chen advanced to the fifth level of Fate Soul Realm.
The next challenge was the Ximen Acupoint in the Fate Soul Realm.
The Soul Power continued to gather, and Wei Chen reveled in the torturous process, his body remaining completely still.
In the northwest corner of Eryuan City, deep within a secluded street, stood an ancient courtyard. A sign hung above the entrance, inscribed with the words "Green Willow Pavilion." Though the sign appeared worn and weathered, its powerful aura suggested it was crafted by someone extraordinary.
It wasn't that the characters were particularly beautiful; rather, it was the feeling etched into them that conveyed a strong sense of oppression.
A young man with slicked-back hair and a delicate appearance approached the door with four bodyguards. He paused to observe for a moment before saying, "Old Liu has chosen to live in seclusion here; it is indeed a tranquil life. If it weren't for special circumstances, I wouldn't easily disturb him."
After hesitating for a moment, the young man stepped forward to knock on the door.
"Senior Liu, I am Wu Yi, the one hundred thirty-eighth disciple seeking an audience!"
This young man was none other than Wu Yi, who had vowed to kill Wei Chen.
After calling out, Wu Yi stepped back down to the steps, his demeanor extremely respectful. No matter how arrogant he usually was, at this moment he had to restrain himself and behave properly.
The four bodyguards behind Wu Yi bowed their heads deeply, not daring to look at the sign at all. Their posture reflected a reverence akin to standing before a deity.
After a long pause, an aged voice called out, "Come in."
The dark blue door creaked open on its own. Inside the courtyard, willow branches swayed gently in the breeze, living up to the name Green Willow Pavilion.
In front of the main hall, there was an empty space where a wicker chair made of willow branches was placed. Leaning against it was a frail old man.
The old man appeared to be over seventy years old, with skin like that of a crane and an extremely aged appearance. Yet upon closer inspection, his eyes sparkled with vitality and were remarkably spirited.
"Disciple pays respects to Senior Liu." Wu Yi knelt on the ground, performing a deep bow to the elder. The four guards also bowed their heads to the ground, not daring to look directly at the old man.
Old Liu had no reputation in Eryuan City, but within the sect, his status was significant.
"Rise," Old Liu said calmly.
Wu Yi quickly got to his feet, well aware that for someone of Old Liu's caliber, obedience was paramount. Whatever he said, as long as it did not contradict him, was acceptable.
"You are Elder Wu's grandson?" Old Liu asked lightly.
Wu Yi nodded eagerly in affirmation.
"What business do you have with me? I am no longer a part of the sect. When I left, I severed ties with all matters concerning it," Old Liu stated before Wu Yi could finish his sentence.
"I understand," Wu Yi replied. He had anticipated this outcome but showed no signs of discouragement. He performed another bow and said, "Senior Liu, I truly come seeking help due to difficulties I am facing. I do not wish to disturb your seclusion; I only need Yang Cheng's assistance."
Old Liu pondered for a moment and sighed, "Your grandfather has indeed helped me quite a bit in the past. I am aware that you have been assigned to Eryuan City. Since this is your first visit, if I were to refuse your request, it would be ungrateful towards your grandfather."
Hearing this, Wu Yi's face lit up with hope.
"However, this will be the only time. After this, you must not come to Green Willow Pavilion again for any matter. Let Yang Cheng handle it; there should be nothing he cannot accomplish in Eryuan City. This will settle the debt I owe your grandfather," Old Liu continued calmly. At that moment, a figure appeared beside him like a ghost.
The man was in his forties, dressed in a flowing blue robe that exuded an unsettling aura. He had sharp eagle-like eyes and a hooked nose, with a ghostly smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"It is true that Yang Cheng has condensed a Spatial Martial Soul! The wonders of the Spatial Martial Soul surpass any other Martial Soul," Wu Yi thought to himself.
The man was none other than Yang Cheng, Old Liu's top disciple. His strength had reached the Pinnacle of Spiritual Wisdom, just one step away from achieving the Surge Realm and becoming a Seventh Rank expert!
"Years ago, Old Liu left the sect in anger due to certain matters, and Yang Cheng followed him. Their relationship was both that of a mentor and a father. The Sect Leader of the Blade Sect, Zhao Dahai, and the Sect Master of the Qingyi Sect, Zixiao, did not strip Yang Cheng of his qualifications to return to the sect, considering his talent. Out of respect and reason, I should address him as Shishu."
Wu Yi thought to himself, bending his legs to the ground in a kneeling position, and said, "Disciple Wu Yi pays respects to Shishu."
Yang Cheng glanced at Wu Yi with narrowed eyes but said nothing.
"Yang Cheng, let him go. Once he has finished his business, he should return as soon as possible. The breakthrough to the Surge Realm is imminent; we cannot afford any carelessness," Old Liu instructed.
"Understood."
Only then did Yang Cheng turn to Wu Yi and say, "Let's go outside; do not disturb Master’s meditation."
Wu Yi bid farewell to Old Liu and followed Yang Cheng out of the Green Willow Pavilion.
They walked several hundred meters away from the street where the Green Willow Pavilion was located before Yang Cheng finally stopped and asked in a low voice, "Wu Yi, what happened?"
Yang Cheng thought that Shishu had a fiery temperament; if he told him the truth, he probably wouldn't help him kill anyone. He needed to find some excuse. So he blurted out, "I encountered a young man with strong talent who could kill Spirit Realm experts even at the initial stage of Fate Soul Realm. Not only did he shamelessly humiliate me, but he also insulted Old Liu with many harsh words."
"Oh? What did he say?" Yang Cheng sneered at Wu Yi.
