The old woman's eyes were filled with hatred.
"Han Mang," she said coldly, unable to meet the old woman's gaze, "why come here pretending to care if you won't rent the Warship to us?"
"Pretending? Han Mang, what you did to me back then has caused me a lifetime of pain! I wish you would die in the sea. But they have nothing to do with this; they can board the Warship, and I will ensure they reach Blackwater Territory safely."
The old woman turned to Wei Chen and the others. "Everyone, please board the Warship. The waters are treacherous, and without a Warship, it will be difficult to reach the Central Domain. If there's a debt, it should be settled with the right person; I will only trouble Han Mang."
Wei Chen was about to decline; they intended to stand united with Han Mang. However, before he could speak, Han Che cheerfully boarded the Warship on Pegasus, cupping his fists towards the old woman and smiling, "Sister-in-law, thank you. My brother brought this upon himself; it's better for him to fly over on his own. We’ll go with you."
Seeing this scene left Wei Chen speechless, while Musa and Mu Yang widened their eyes in disbelief, wondering what on earth was happening.
"Wei Chen, you all should come aboard too. What are you waiting for? Do you really want to fly over?" Han Che called out.
Wei Chen wore a bitter smile. His relationship with that old man Han Mang was both mentor and friend; he had learned so much from him that it felt more like a master-student bond, though he wasn't used to calling it that.
If he boarded the Warship at this moment and abandoned Han Mang, would he still be human?
"Wei Chen," he said to Musa and Mu Yang, "you go ahead. With Senior Han Che here, nothing will happen."
Musa frowned and asked, "Aren't you coming aboard?"
"The sea is vast; I've never experienced it before. It’s fine to accompany the old man on an adventure. Please take good care of Mu Qingyan and the others for me."
Musa nodded. He understood that with their strength, exploring the sea would be tantamount to seeking death and would only drag down Han Mang and Wei Chen.
Wei Chen flew in front of Mu Qingyan, Snow Cicada, and Weirou, speaking gently, "You three should board the Warship and not follow me. If danger arises, I won't be able to protect you."
The three women understood his intentions and didn’t want to be a burden to Wei Chen, so they boarded the Warship.
Jiang Langying and Ginger Tooth naturally followed them onto the Warship as well.
Pharmaceutical Sovereign whispered to Han Mang, "Boss, take care of yourself. Training with Wei Chenzi is a good thing. I'll head to the Central Domain and wait for you."
With that, Pharmaceutical Sovereign abandoned Han Mang.
"Big brother, I wish you smooth sailing! Wei Chenzi, if you don't reach the Surge Realm in six months, don't come back to see us."
Han Che waved goodbye to Wei Chen as the Warship powered up and gradually disappeared from Wei Chen's sight.
That old woman really knew how to play; she wouldn’t let Han Mang board. Even though Wei Chen didn’t get on the Warship, she didn’t try to persuade him otherwise. Instead, Wei Chen noticed a hint of admiration in her eyes.
The three women stood on the deck, their faces filled with worry as they watched Wei Chen and Old Man Han Mang. Despite their deep concern, they understood Wei Chen's difficult position; this was the best choice under the circumstances.
Pharmaceutical Sovereign and Han Che leaving Han Mang behind wasn’t due to a lack of loyalty but rather a necessity to protect Musa and Weirou. Over time, a tacit understanding had formed among the three. They could joke around, but a single glance was enough to convey their true feelings.
Han Mang didn’t insist that Wei Chen follow the Warship because he trusted Wei Chen’s strength.
Although Wei Chen's Soul Power Realm wasn’t top-tier yet, in Han Mang's eyes, his abilities were more than adequate. Moreover, Wei Chen was clever and resourceful; often, that was more important than sheer strength.
The Giant Warship sailed away, quickly disappearing from sight.
Han Mang and Wei Chen exchanged wry smiles. In truth, who wouldn't want to board the Warship? Who would prefer to rely on their Pegasus and Soul Power to fly across the sea? Flying for a short distance was manageable, but flying for a full six months to reach the Central Domain was another matter entirely!
Wei Chen felt a deep frustration. He looked at Old Man Han Mang and said, half-jokingly, "Old man, what exactly did you do to them? This is outrageous!"
"You brat, you don't understand anything!" Old Man Han Mang retorted angrily.
"Come on, stop pretending. Han Che has already given us the details. You slept with that old woman and left her to live alone for the rest of her life. I never expected you to be that kind of person; your character is truly lacking... I don't feel sorry for you at all in this situation," Wei Chen scoffed.
"Who asked for your sympathy? You should take care of yourself. The dangers of the sea are numerous; one misstep could lead to death. Your lovers will end up lonely as well."
"Nonsense! With my strength, if I can't fight them off, I can still run away!"
"You're thinking too simply. The Sea Tribe's power lies not only in individual combat strength but also in their secret techniques. Just hope for the best and don't encounter someone strong enough to kill you here. Let's get to the Central Domain, establish our Peach Blossom Sect; you can be the Young Sect Master while I take on the role of Sect Leader."
Han Mang stopped talking, and Wei Chen ceased his banter as they rode their Pegasus deeper into the sea at a leisurely pace.
In truth, both were capable of enduring solitude, each cultivating on their Pegasus while absorbing the rich Soul Power from the sea. Their Soul Power Realm gradually improved, which wasn't too bad.
However, the problem was that Pegasus couldn't sustain itself for that long. Wei Chen and Old Man Han Mang could fast for up to ten and a half months, but Pegasus couldn't; it needed feeding regularly or it would collapse.
Feeding wasn't particularly difficult. Wei Chen and Old Man Han Mang took out provisions and flew into the air, holding food to feed Pegasus. But Pegasus was not a Warship; it wasn't mechanical and required rest.
In the beginning, Old Man Han Mang led the way, always managing to find some islands where Pegasus could land and rest. However, as time went on, the islands became increasingly difficult to locate, and Pegasus had less and less time to recuperate, until one day it finally perished.
After switching to another Pegasus, it didn't last long either before it met the same fate.
Han Mang and Wei Chen watched silently as Pegasus sank into the sea.
"We're out of options now; let's just fly over slowly. Our Soul Power can sustain us. We can absorb energy while flying; it won't deplete much," Han Mang reassured Wei Chen.
Wei Chen nodded; he had anticipated this situation long ago.
The two flew side by side, at a pace that was neither fast nor slow, continuing northwest.
"Old man, the success rate of crossing this sea area is less than ten percent. Where did that statistic come from? As long as we can find an island to rest on in about a month, we should be fine."
"What do you know? My strength is top-tier in the Eastern Region. Your Soul Power Realm may not be at the top yet, but your combat ability is already quite strong, and your Soul Power absorption rate is astonishingly fast. If it were an ordinary person, who could endure this?"
"So you're saying that as long as we're strong enough, we can make it across without any issues?"
"Depends on the situation. If luck is against us and we encounter a severe storm, who knows where we might end up? Any delays could lead to dangerous encounters with the Sea Tribe. We're not in an area where the Sea Tribe is active yet, but you'll understand soon enough."
Old Man Han Mang continued to pour cold water on Wei Chen's optimism, but Wei Chen appeared unfazed. With great skill comes great confidence; he wasn't afraid of anything.
"Old man, what's the deal between you and that old woman? I heard Han Che call her sister-in-law," Wei Chen asked curiously.
Han Mang's gaze was deep, and his expression was bleak. He glanced at Wei Chen and said lightly, "Wei Chen, do you really want to hear it?"
"Of course I do," Wei Chen nodded.
"Actually, it's nothing much. Back in the day, I ventured into the Central Domain and met her. We were together for a few years. Later, when I wanted to return to the Eastern Region, she wouldn't let me go back, so I left on my own. Who would have thought that she would chase me down to the Central Domain later, wanting to get back together? I was focused on studying formations and had no mind to deal with her. By the time I was ready to pay her attention, she was unwilling."
Old Man Han Mang sighed and smiled bitterly, "This is what they call fate. There was truly no fate between her and me. If there had been even a tiny bit of fate, we wouldn't have missed each other so many times. Wei Chen, you're still young. Let me tell you something: never give up your woman for some so-called career. If they are willing to follow you, that's your blessing. No matter what happens, don't let those who love you grow old alone; that is the cruelest thing. In my youth, I was arrogant and thought highly of myself, believing that the Soul Power Realm was everything. But now that I've cultivated to Earth Soul Realm Level Four and can be considered a master, I'm still alone in my old age."
Wei Chen pouted and said, "Don't worry; those things of yours don't exist for me at all. Sister Wei Rou, Mu Qingyan, Snow Cicada, and Zhao Yu are all things I want to protect. A man spends his life striving to improve his strength just to safeguard his loved ones, right? I was an adopted child and still don't know who my biological parents are. My adoptive family has perished, their fate unknown. To me, those few are my family. Even if it costs me my life, I will protect them well. Old man, I value emotions and loyalty; I'm not like you."
"Yes, I'm indeed unfeeling and have reaped what I've sown in the end. The evil fruits I've planted are mine to bear."
Han Mang felt downcast as he gathered his Soul Power and flew ahead.
Wei Chen did not chase after him but followed from a distance; at times like this, Han Mang needed some time alone.
A month later, Wei Chen could no longer endure it.
He gradually understood that flying over to the Central Domain was not something an ordinary person could accomplish.
The kind of frustration and oppression he felt was something that those who hadn't experienced it could never comprehend. The depletion of Soul Power was just one aspect; his Soul Power had steadily increased and had already reached Spirit Wisdom Realm Eighth Layer. However, his mood was extremely poor; after such a long time without sleep, even a Soul Realm Expert might not be able to hold on.
"Old man, if this continues, someone will die. We've gone a whole month without sleep."
Wei Chen's face was pale, and he looked exhausted. He could manage continuous flight, but he had yet to master the ability to sleep while hovering in the air; no one could.
Old Man Han Mang also looked unwell. He gritted his teeth and said, "Just hang in there a bit longer. Keep your eyes peeled and find an island to rest properly. If this goes on, we'll go crazy."
"Old man, damn it! If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have flown with you. I thought we could find an island to rest every few days," Wei Chen grumbled, but there was nothing he could do. Instead of boarding a warship, he had ended up on Han Mang's pirate ship, and there was no turning back.
In this world, there truly was no such thing as a pill for regret.
After a while, both Wei Chen and Han Mang were on the brink of collapse. The vast ocean stretched endlessly around them, all blue; even the sky was blue, and their eyes felt like they were about to go blind.
"Old man, look over there!"
Wei Chen suddenly spotted a large landmass in the distance. It wasn't just an ordinary island; it was a large island!
Han Mang's eyes lit up with surprise as the two of them charged toward the island.
As they got closer, Han Mang's brows furrowed deeply; he sensed something was off.
Wei Chen also noticed it—there were signs of human presence among the pirates!
"This is bad; it's a training ground controlled by a Sea Tribe!"
