Hearing Red Boy's words, Wei Chen narrowed his eyes slightly and coldly replied, "Fellow, your tone is quite arrogant! You’ve absorbed my soul; do you think you’re qualified now?"
Wei Chen controlled his powerful Mental Strength, projecting it over Red Boy, creating an overwhelming pressure that bore down on him.
Red Boy felt a slight instability in his soul under Wei Chen's Mental Strength. Hidden within that pressure was a faint power that instilled fear in him. He didn’t know what it was, but it made him tremble from the depths of his being.
Red Boy stubbornly retorted, "You think this little Mental Strength of yours can suppress me?"
"You know best whether it can suppress you. If you want to absorb my Spirit, go ahead and try. If you succeed, you can rise to a new level; if you fail, you'll suffer a terrible backlash," Wei Chen said with a cold smile.
Red Boy was uncertain. He sensed that Wei Chen's Mental Strength was not as strong as his own, but there was an incredibly strange aura within it that made him hesitate to act. Coupled with Wei Chen's confident demeanor, he felt even more reluctant.
After a moment of hesitation, Red Boy said coldly, "I won’t absorb your Spirit; that’s something I promised. But you also promised to help me deal with the Soul Devouring Beast. Now is the perfect time to act—what are you waiting for?"
"Do you think I'm foolish? You want me to face so many Soul Beasts alone? Are you just going to stand there?" Wei Chen frowned.
"Fine, I’ll join you against the Soul Devouring Beast, but all the Soul Beasts are mine," Red Boy declared.
Wei Chen nodded. "If I have no use for the Soul Beasts, they are naturally yours. In a few days, I will have a battle that concerns my future and fate; you must help me."
"Alright."
Red Boy decisively nodded and suddenly soared into the air, charging toward the nearby Soul Beasts that were watching hungrily.
In an instant, the Red Demon Armor on Red Boy erupted with red light, condensing into arrows that shot toward the surrounding Soul Beasts. Those Soul Beasts sensed Red Boy's powerful Mental Strength and prepared to flee but were unable to escape in time and were instantly slain.
The bodies of the Soul Beasts scattered in the air while those in the distance howled in fear and quickly fled.
Seeing this scene, Wei Chen couldn’t help but admire Red Boy; his Mental Strength was indeed formidable—much stronger than his own.
Red Boy suddenly killed over a hundred Soul Beasts, a cold expression appearing on his youthful face. His mouth slightly opened, and the countless Soul Beasts transformed into wisps of black smoke, flying into his mouth.
A look of satisfaction spread across Red Boy's face as he let out a comfortable hum and sat cross-legged, quietly refining the souls of those Soul Beasts.
All the Soul Beasts were composed of Soul Bodies. What Wei Chen "saw" was perceived through Mental Strength; he could not see with his own eyes. However, what was sensed by Mental Strength often felt more real than what was seen directly.
"This kid is quite impressive, but he truly poses a threat to me. If I hadn't released the aura of the Demon Lotus earlier to instill some fear in him, he would probably have targeted me first."
"The Soul Beast Mountain is a forbidden area for humans. If he kills me here, he would be free to roam, with plenty of nourishment around him to grow quickly. In the Demon Realm, he would become an invincible existence."
"Under the Demon Lotus Emperor's influence, if I find the right opportunity, I should eliminate him; otherwise, I will always be in danger."
"My current strength is insufficient; I can only let him rampage for now and endure."
Wei Chen thought to himself as Divine Soul Power quietly gathered while he continued walking up the mountain.
Red Boy maintained his cross-legged position, floating above Wei Chen's head and moving in sync with his steps.
After climbing several hundred meters, some fearless Soul Beasts once again surrounded them, wrapping around Wei Chen and Red Boy as they moved together.
Neither Wei Chen nor Red Boy released much Mental Strength pressure. The ordinary Soul Beasts, sensing their presence, grinned eagerly at them.
"Are you ready?" Wei Chen prepared to strike at the Soul Devouring Beast, but it seemed Red Boy was still refining the Spirit of those recently defeated Soul Beasts. If he attacked now, Red Boy wouldn't have time to absorb them, which would be a waste. Unlike magical beasts or demon beasts, Soul Beasts had no physical form and dissipated quickly; after just a few breaths following their defeat, they would completely vanish and be reformed.
Red Boy opened his eyes and nodded. "I'm done."
"Your speed in refining Soul Beasts isn't very fast either!"
"With over a hundred Soul Beasts and their ranks not being low, why don't you try refining them? My speed is already quite fast!"
Red Boy glared at Wei Chen with barely concealed anger.
"Alright, then get ready."
Wei Chen leaped into the air, a faint killing intent radiating from him. The Soul Beasts sensed his murderous aura and thought to themselves, This is our territory; who does this individual think he is?
They exchanged a few growls to signal their companions and charged fiercely at Wei Chen.
A cold smile appeared on Wei Chen's lips as he slightly closed his eyes. His powerful mental awareness instantly expanded, enveloping a radius of one mile. Within that area, every rustle of grass and every breath of the Soul Beasts was vividly imprinted in his mind.
He cautiously controlled his Mental Strength, condensing it into flying swords that sliced through the attacking Soul Beasts one by one.
Red Boy quickly opened his mouth, and the fallen Soul Beasts transformed into wisps of black smoke that he inhaled into his body.
As Wei Chen landed on the ground, he frowned in contemplation. "My control over Mental Strength is truly lacking. It took so much Mental Strength to kill just these few Soul Beasts; it’s not worth it."
The Mental Attack he had just executed was indiscriminate; all the flying swords had the same intensity of Mental Strength. However, the Soul Beasts varied in strength. For slightly stronger Soul Beasts, that level of Mental Strength was appropriate, but for those that were weaker, using the same intensity felt wasteful.
"What a waste. My control over Mental Strength is still poor; I need to practice more in this area."
Wei Chen thought to himself and decided not to ascend further but instead moved sideways, maintaining his position halfway up the mountain. The Soul Beasts above were formidable, and he didn't want to seek unnecessary trouble. Killing ordinary Soul Beasts was already enough to train his control over Mental Strength.
After failing to achieve his ideal outcome in the first wave of attacks, he quickly prepared for a second wave.
Red Boy hovered above him. After refining the Spirit of the Soul Beasts, Red Boy took the initiative and eliminated several hundred more Soul Beasts in one go.
Thus, Red Boy attacked once, followed by Wei Chen's attack. All the Soul Beasts fell into Red Boy's mouth. With each attack, Red Boy's Mental Strength increased step by step, while Wei Chen's control over Mental Strength gradually improved as well. After dozens of waves of attacks, Wei Chen was now able to refine his Mental Attack; it was no longer indiscriminate.
Yet he remained unsatisfied. In order to maximize efficiency and kill as many Soul Beasts as possible with minimal consumption, he and Red Boy continued their assault together.
"Being with this guy does have its advantages. At least after killing a Soul Beast, we get some time to rest and recover, instead of being surrounded by them," Wei Chen thought to himself.
He understood very well that if he had come alone, after killing one wave of Soul Beasts, the next wave would come quickly, making the situation extremely dangerous.
Wei Chen and Red Boy chose a large rock to stand on, both quietly regulating their breathing as they awaited the next wave of Soul Beasts.
By now, they no longer needed to actively seek out the Soul Beasts. After defeating one wave, the next would automatically gather. Their actions had drawn the anger of the Soul Beasts; it didn't matter how strong their Mental Strength was. As long as enough gathered, they would rush in together, becoming nourishment for Red Boy.
Red Boy was absorbing them with great satisfaction, and Wei Chen was also reaping significant rewards. The two gradually developed a tacit understanding; if one wave of Soul Beasts was too numerous to finish off in one strike, the other would quickly step in to eliminate the remaining ones.
In this way, the two of them became dominant figures in the nearby area. The Soul Beasts roared and howled, conveying messages of enemy invasion as one after another rushed in to join Red Boy's lavish feast.
"Brother, the number of Soul Beasts is increasing and getting stronger. At this rate, we're bound to be finished," Wei Chen said to Red Boy.
Although things seemed manageable for now, the number of gathering Soul Beasts was surging dramatically, and their strength was gradually rising. It was likely that the Soul Beasts on the mountain had heard their companions' cries and were coming to assist. Wei Chen could still hold on, but if this continued, he would inevitably be overwhelmed. In recent attacks, there had been thousands of Soul Beasts; he had to exert all his effort just to kill them off, with any stragglers taken out by Red Boy in a single blow.
In contrast, Red Boy faced thousands of Soul Beasts with ease, showing no signs of struggle whatsoever.
Without any replenishment of Mental Strength for Wei Chen and with Red Boy's Spirit strength continuously growing stronger through battle, it was clear that Wei Chen couldn't compete.
Red Boy looked at Wei Chen with disdain and said, "Is this all you can handle? You can't even hold out against this many Soul Beasts?"
"I can still hold on for now, but I can't guarantee that will last."
"Are you thinking about backing out?"
"Not exactly," Wei Chen shook his head, a hint of flattery in his gaze as he asked Red Boy, "Could you teach me a few tricks on how to absorb Soul Beasts? I need some replenishment too; otherwise, I'll be giving without receiving and won't last much longer."
Upon hearing this, Red Boy narrowed his eyes and scrutinized Wei Chen for a moment before nodding slightly. "Alright, I'll teach you."
Wei Chen was taken aback. He had only intended for Red Boy to refuse, allowing him to gracefully back out and prepare for the upcoming battle against Dragon Clan Young Master Ginger Guest in the Demon Arena. He never expected Red Boy to actually agree.
That was his Divine Skill! Could it really be taught so easily?
Wei Chen furrowed his brow and said, “Fellow, you’re not trying to trick me into a trap, are you? Would you really be so kind as to teach me?”
“Learn it or don’t,” Red Boy scoffed, then directly transmitted a set of incantations into Wei Chen’s Sea of Consciousness.
Wei Chen was stunned as he quickly analyzed the incantation. To his surprise, it seemed to be genuine.
Or perhaps it truly was genuine and had not been altered by Red Boy?
“Fellow, are you joking?” Wei Chen asked in astonishment.
Red Boy replied, “Stop wasting time. You have one moment to learn it. If you can’t grasp it, then your aptitude is too low and you’re not suited for practicing this Soul Devouring Technique.”
At that moment, the Demon Lotus Emperor transmitted a message to Wei Chen: “That kid has lost his mind. Hurry up and learn it! The method for enhancing Mental Strength is absolutely unavailable in the Demon Realm. Even in the Nine Immortal Realm, any method for boosting Mental Strength, no matter how low its grade, is a treasure! What he’s giving you would attract even several Great Emperors fighting over it in the Nine Immortal Realm!”
