Wei Chen and the Dark Mage exchanged glances, both filled with anxiety.
"Paralyze, I just arrived in the Demon Realm, and finally, I was about to enjoy a period of living like a spoiled rich kid. Why is your Paralyze Soul Beast causing trouble for me?" Wei Chen lamented inwardly, feeling that those Soul Beasts were specifically seeking him out for trouble.
It seemed that his title as the Disaster Star was about to manifest once again; no matter where he went, a large-scale conflict would inevitably follow...
Disaster Star, truly a fitting name!
"Child, do you have any countermeasures? Grandpa is getting old; I can't outsmart you young people anymore." The Dark Mage admitted his age, realizing that while his power had grown, his intelligence was slowly declining. After living for over eight thousand years, his mind was cluttered with too many memories, and his adaptability had diminished. Perhaps reaching such an age was a common ailment?
Wei Chen hesitated for a moment before replying, "Grandpa, I have some ideas, but I don't have the opportunity to experiment right now. After the Demon Arena, we can return to Soul Beast Mountain, and I'll conduct some experiments to see if they yield any results."
"How confident are you?"
"About thirty percent."
Upon hearing this, the Dark Mage's eyes lit up. "Thirty percent? Hey, that's already quite high! Good, after the Demon Arena ends, we'll head back immediately."
"Grandpa, how many sessions will the Demon Arena hold?"
"Four in total."
"That's not too bad; delaying for four shouldn't significantly impact the situation at Soul Beast Mountain. Those Soul Beasts can't possibly time their emergence perfectly with our departure. If that happens, we would truly be at a loss."
"It won't happen. The Soul Beast's assault on the Black Magic Clan will definitely cause some disturbances. Right now, the disturbances have just begun; there hasn't been any large-scale movement of Soul Beasts yet, which indicates that nothing will happen in the short term. We have some buffer time."
Wei Chen replied, "That's good; let's focus on the Demon Arena for now. We'll deal with everything else when we get back."
"Yes, Grandpa will be waiting to see your performance. Our Black Magic Clan appears strong but is actually caught in a crisis. Have you realized what our biggest problem is?" The Dark Mage looked seriously at Wei Chen and asked in a deep voice.
Wei Chen pondered for a moment and suddenly realized that in the Black Magic Palace, almost everyone was middle-aged, at least a thousand years old, with no young people present. He was the only exception.
"Grandfather, are there no young people in the Black Magic Palace because they don't want to promote them, or is it that they haven't reached that level of strength?" Wei Chen asked.
The Dark Mage sighed and replied, "You've hit the nail on the head. This is the biggest problem we face in the Black Magic Clan. We have fallen into a stage where there is a lack of outstanding young talent, and that is our greatest issue. Do you think we don't want to compete for good rankings in the Demon Arena? But in reality, those four hundred young people are only considered relatively excellent; they wouldn't even rank among the best in the entire demon realm."
"I don't expect them to achieve good rankings—not because I don't value it, but out of helplessness. It's a deep sense of helplessness! Child, you won't understand my feelings unless you're in my position. The greatest hidden danger for the Black Magic Clan is that after we old fellows step down, there will be no strong individuals or strategic thinkers among the younger generation to support the clan. My biggest worry is that once we are gone, the Black Magic Clan will gradually decline over the centuries, eventually being suppressed by the Dragon Clan and Dark Demon Clan, becoming just another minor force. We old fellows would die with our eyes wide open."
The Dark Mage's face was filled with despair. He hadn't wanted to say these things as they would put a lot of pressure on Wei Chen. However, given the current situation, he felt it was necessary. If he didn't give Wei Chen some pressure now and let him drift along for a few years, what would he gain?
It was better to make Wei Chen aware of the situation early on so he could start feeling anxious.
"Grandfather, leave those four hundred people to me after the Demon Arena. Let them follow me and undergo more training; that would be great! They were born into prominent families and have had few real-life-and-death training opportunities, which has led to this outcome. Give me two years; I will train them and help them develop good habits—it won't be a problem."
"Child, I believe in your experience but not in your combat ability! Those people are all arrogant fellows; can you tame them?" The Dark Mage expressed his disbelief. Wei Chen's limited strength meant that any one of those young people could easily overpower him—how could he train them? To tame those fellows required combat power, not just Mental Strength. If he tried to suppress them with Mental Strength alone, they would see it as an unfair advantage.
Wei Chen replied calmly, "Grandfather, just trust me; I have my ways."
"Alright then, I'll go along with what you say." The Dark Mage nodded in agreement, thinking that letting Wei Chen face some hardships would motivate him to train harder—this could be a good thing.
"Grandfather, your Mental Strength is too weak. I'll teach you the cultivation method for absorbing Soul Beast Mental Strength so you can enhance your own Mental Strength and become invincible. But this cultivation method must not be shared outside; what I'm giving you is the complete version. After the Demon Arena, I will selectively teach parts of it to those individuals—a non-complete version. The true complete version must remain within our Dark Magic Royal Family."
Following this, a complex and difficult incantation entered the Dark Mage's Sea of Consciousness.
For Wei Chen, that incantation was not difficult at all; it would also be easy for the Demon Lotus Emperor to master quickly. However, for someone like the Dark Mage, who already had weak Mental Strength, this incantation was extremely torturous.
After being lost in thought for quite some time, the Dark Mage sorted through the incantation and frowned as he said, "Why is this incantation so difficult?"
"Grandpa, isn't it because your Mental Strength isn't strong enough? I only took a moment to practice this technique. If you study it carefully for an hour or so, you should be fine."
"An hour? Child, you overestimate me. In the Demon Realm, Mental Strength has always been a weakness, and there are very few techniques regarding it. Even something ten times simpler than this, I would struggle to master in just an hour."
"Then take your time practicing; there's no rush. However, if the Beast Tide really comes, mastering this technique would be a great opportunity. After defeating a Soul Beast, there will be plenty of Mental Strength lingering around. Absorbing some of it would significantly boost your Mental Strength. So, Grandpa, you should hurry up."
As soon as Wei Chen finished speaking, the Dark Mage vanished from sight. Wei Chen heard a voice in his ear: "Grandpa has gone to practice. You stay put; in a few hours, we will reach the Dragon Clan's territory."
The Dark Mage hurried off to train, leaving Wei Chen alone on the deck. He looked around at the black and gray scenery and felt no sense of oppression; instead, he was filled with a strong sense of familiarity.
Yes, he belonged to this place. The dark and gray environment and the rich magical energy made him feel at ease.
"I wonder how things are going in the Soul World?"
"But I've only been in the Demon Realm for such a short time; not even an hour has passed for them. They probably haven’t felt anything yet."
"Sister Wei Rou, Mu Qingyan, Ni Junlin, Snow Cicada, Ji Mei, Elegant... they must think I've gone crazy by now."
"When I see them again, I’ll definitely be overwhelmed with excitement after such a long separation... but to them, I’ve only been gone for a little while; it shouldn’t matter much."
"What is this strange time and space all about?"
"According to the Demon Lotus Emperor, all of this is because of me; time changes with me. Does that mean I'm a bit too extraordinary?"
Wei Chen shook his head and said, "I just hope that the people from the Soul Palace don’t take advantage of my absence to invade. Without me there, they wouldn't be able to hold them off."
"The Reprint is a good thing; it's just a pity that I can't use it effectively. Its combat power must be incredibly strong; in my hands, it can only be used to smash things."
Wei Chen carefully took out the Reprint, handling it as if he were caressing a lover. The Reprint contained an incredibly terrifying Soul Power; once released, it could cause immense destruction.
However, that was only the destructive power in the Soul World. In the Demon Realm, its lethality was not as pronounced. Everything in the Demon Realm was many times harder than in the Soul World, making the Soul Power's destructive capability seem pitifully low.
"I can't absorb magic yet, and I can't access the Soul Realm for now. The power of the Reprint is greatly diminished. Once I reach the Demon Gathering Realm and can use magic, then its true might will be revealed."
"Against the Dragon Clan Young Master Ginger Guest, I can't rely on the Reprint; Mental Strength is my only option."
As Wei Chen pondered this, Muen walked out with several others.
"Young Mistress, the Demon Emperor instructed me to hand these people over to you."
Approaching, Muen gave a strange smile and cupped his fists toward Wei Chen.
Wei Chen glanced at the four individuals beside Muen and thought in shock, "They look so similar? Quadruplets?"
"Uncle Muen, what does this mean?" Wei Chen asked, looking at the four beautiful Quadruplets.
"The Demon Emperor is concerned you might feel bored on your journey. These four maidens... well, you can handle it as you see fit."
Muen flashed a suggestive smile at Wei Chen before swiftly leaving.
On the spacious Warship deck, aside from the patrolling soldiers around them, only Wei Chen and the four strikingly similar maidens remained.
They wore long black dresses, exuding an air of elegance mixed with a hint of playfulness, their beauty captivating.
Wei Chen was speechless. Did that old Dark Mage really look forward to becoming a grandfather this much?
Four beautiful maids were sent over, and it was clear what that meant.
The four maids bowed gracefully to Wei Chen and said in unison, "Greetings, Young Mistress."
"Alright, what did my grandfather send you here for?" Wei Chen asked helplessly.
The maids lowered their heads shyly; such matters could not be addressed directly.
One of them spoke up, "The Demon Emperor sent us to serve you."
"The Demon Emperor wants us to take care of your daily needs," another added.
"Young Mistress, if you need anything, just let us know. We will follow you closely from now on," they said in unison.
Hearing this, a sly smile appeared on Wei Chen's face as she teased, "Follow me closely? Even when I'm taking a bath?"
"Of course," the four girls nodded in agreement.
Wei Chen continued, "What about when I sleep? Will you follow me then too?"
The maids' faces turned slightly red, but they still nodded together and replied, "Young Mistress, we are yours to command. It is our honor to serve you."
