"Wei Chenyu, although we haven't known each other for long and are not on the same side, I feel a strong connection with you. After you come out, I'll treat you to a drink." The Sea Emperor Nanfeng bid farewell to Wei Chen, filled with anticipation for his future. The Sea God Palace was fraught with danger but also held infinite possibilities. It all depended on how Wei Chen chose to navigate it.
"Alright, I hope by then you'll have unified the Endless Sea and established a friendly pact with the human race," Wei Chen replied with a faint smile.
The Sea Emperor Nanfeng said, "I'll do my best; everything depends on the heart."
Two years was a tight timeframe to conquer the Endless Sea, and the challenge was immense. Even the South Sea Sea Clan, no matter how strong, felt like Sword Mountain in comparison. For the Three Great Clans within the Demon Domain, once large-scale battles erupted, it could take hundreds or even thousands of years to resolve—how could it be accomplished in just two years?
The confidence of Sea Emperor Nanfeng suggested he might have some hidden support.
...
Calculating the time, two years would be just enough for him to participate in the war against the Dragon Clan. Within the Black Magic Clan, Wei Chen's presence didn't significantly impact anything; whether he was there or not made little difference. This way, he could focus on breaking through at the Sea God Palace without worry.
After bidding farewell to Sea Emperor Nanfeng, Wei Chen dove into the sea and swam deeper.
...
"Sea Emperor, what should we do now?" a high-ranking member of the South Sea Sea Clan asked Sea Emperor Nanfeng.
After hesitating for a moment and narrowing his eyes, Sea Emperor Nanfeng made up his mind: "Gather all high-ranking officials and bring our ships here. From now on, I will conduct my affairs here until Wei Chen appears."
"Sea Emperor, isn't that a bit inappropriate? South Sea Island is our Base of Operations!" another high-ranking official protested.
Sea Emperor Nanfeng sneered, "What's inappropriate about it? By staying here and waiting for Wei Chen's arrival, we can maximize our benefits! I have a feeling that once Wei Chen emerges, there will be a tremendous upheaval throughout the Demon Domain."
"The Sea Emperor and the Dark Demon Clan Young Master are indeed powerful, but their strength is only on the level of Mental Strength. They shouldn't be able to change the dynamics of the Demon Realm, right?"
"Yes, Sea Emperor, you shouldn't waste too much effort here."
"Sea Emperor, bringing the sea ships here and establishing a Base of Operations will only lead to unnecessary trouble!"
"Sea Emperor, please reconsider."
The senior members of the South Sea Sea Clan urged Sea Emperor Nanfeng, reluctant to leave the favorable environment of South Sea Island.
Upon hearing this, Sea Emperor Nanfeng suddenly sneered, "What do you all know? A bunch of shortsighted fools!"
With his orders given, there was no turning back, and the senior members of the South Sea Sea Clan left in dejection.
"It's already changed; it depends on that kid what kind of chaos he can stir up. Maintaining a good relationship with him will definitely not be a mistake," Sea Emperor Nanfeng thought to himself.
In his intuition, a storm was brewing, and the Demon Realm was on the brink of great change—a catastrophe or perhaps a tremendous opportunity lay before Sea Emperor Nanfeng.
To swim against the tide in this storm and build a good rapport with Wei Chen could only bring benefits.
That was Sea Emperor Nanfeng's choice, as well as the choice of the times.
In fact, Sea Emperor Nanfeng felt quite confident in his intuition.
No one knew that he had another identity. His astrology was no joke.
He divined that Wei Chen's future was a brilliant path ahead, though it was unclear what exactly it entailed; it would certainly be impressive. Even just looking at the present, as a warrior under twenty years old at the twenty-second level, with mental strength capable of defeating anyone, and his identity as the Young Master of the Dark Demon Clan, Wei Chen was already formidable. Wasn't someone like him worth befriending?
Sea Emperor Nanfeng had his own thoughts. Although his subordinates were puzzled, they could only obediently follow his orders. In the eyes of the South Sea Sea Clan, Sea Emperor Nanfeng held absolute authority. Though he had lost to the Dark Mage, he had not disappointed the South Sea Sea Clan. Everyone felt that losing to the Dark Mage was quite normal; who in the entire Demon Realm could rival the Dark Mage?
……
Wei Chen once again faced immense water pressure before finally entering the protective barrier of the Sea God Palace.
Upon arriving in the central hall of the Sea God Palace, the frail and aged Sea God appeared once more.
"Kid, you really came!" The Sea God looked at Wei Chen in surprise, unable to believe that Wei Chen would actually show up.
Wei Chen frowned and said, "Sea God, what do you mean? Shouldn't I be here?"
"Heh heh, kid, I thought you wouldn't be able to break through the formation here. Your previous words were merely a temporary measure to save your skin," the Sea God replied lightly.
Wei Chen responded, "Sea God, you underestimate me. I've never failed to deliver on my promises."
"Heh heh, that's good to hear. I'm curious to see how you'll break the formation set by the Secondary God," said the Sea God.
Wei Chen clasped his fists and said, "Sea God, please rest assured. Once I break the formation, you'll still need to expend a great deal of energy to return to your Ancestral Land."
"It doesn't matter. Returning to my world doesn't require much Divine Power. As long as I have a trace of Divine Power left, I can open a Spatial Tunnel and go back. However, with this formation in place, I no longer have that ability. The key is to break this formation," the Sea God said with a faint smile as he looked at Wei Chen.
Wei Chen nodded and replied, "If you want to see, then watch closely. I will give it my all."
Wei Chen understood the situation well. Previously, when he had gone back and forth with the Sea God, the Sea God had not believed him. Now that he had returned, it was no wonder the Sea God was so shocked. To astonish a god was no small feat for Wei Chen.
"I look forward to it," the Sea God said, cupping his fist in respect towards Wei Chen.
A powerful god, even stronger than the Boundary God, showing such respect to a young human was an immense honor for Wei Chen.
However, Wei Chen did not feel particularly honored; he was merely helping the Sea God. It was only appropriate for the Sea God to express some respect.
Looking at the Sea God, Wei Chen pondered for a moment and asked, "Senior Sea God, how were you sealed by the god who created the demon realm's human race?"
"It's a long story." Upon hearing Wei Chen's question, the Sea God's eyes filled with a sense of weariness.
He slightly raised his head and gazed at the nonexistent horizon, speaking softly: "Back then, I entered this world alongside that Secondary God. He was responsible for creating the human race while I was tasked with creating the Sea Tribe. However, within this world existed a Boundary God who sought to rely on his own efforts to eventually step into the Divine Realm and establish humanity here."
"Given that Boundary God's qualifications, there was indeed hope; after all, this world is not of low caliber—it is quite a decent Spatial Plane. Unfortunately for him, once we appeared, that hope vanished."
"The world of gods is also very cruel. In order to compete for the Power of Belief, gods capable of creating life scour lifeless Spatial Planes to propagate humanity. Once humans proliferate and become a powerful race, they can provide their creator god with an endless supply of Power of Belief. In our pantheon, Power of Belief translates to Divine Power. The more Power of Belief one has, the stronger their Divine Power becomes, thus enhancing their strength. Therefore, competition over lifeless Spatial Planes is fierce; that Boundary God in this world met his demise because of it."
"Before he died, he struck back at me and wounded me, scattering part of my Divine Power and greatly diminishing my strength. Especially after expending my blood to create the Sea Tribe, my Divine Power became quite weak. If it weren't for that incident, how could that Secondary God have possibly severely injured me and imprisoned me here?"
The Sea God turned his gaze towards Wei Chen, a teasing glint in his eyes, and asked, "Are you afraid?"
"Afraid? Afraid of what?" Wei Chen replied, puzzled.
The Sea God chuckled, "Naturally, you should be afraid of that Secondary God. He has imprisoned me here, intending to use time to wear down my Divine Power. With the might of the formation, he could scatter my soul. My Ancestral Land, the world I fully control, would become his. The benefits he would gain are immeasurable. As long as I live, that world remains under my control; it's just that the distance is too great for me to absorb the Power of Belief from it."
After a deep look at Wei Chen, the Sea God continued, "If you break the formation and rescue me, that Secondary God will surely know. At that point, your life will be in danger; your soul could be scattered. Even this world might be destroyed by him."
Such danger had not crossed Wei Chen's mind before. It was only after the Sea God's reminder that he realized the gravity of the situation.
Unknowingly, cold sweat began to bead on Wei Chen's forehead.
This threat was far more serious than that posed by the Soul Beast Mountain Ruler or the Ancient World's Great Being. At least the Soul Beast Mountain Ruler had told Wei Chen that absorbing all of his Mental Strength would allow him to contend with the Ancient World's Great Being.
But what could Wei Chen do against a formidable Secondary God?
Wei Chen felt a sense of helplessness; faced with such a threat, he didn't know how to choose.
But should he just give up? Setting aside whether the Sea God would forcibly keep him here, could he really walk away without regret?
A Heart of the God could completely control the entire demon realm, allowing him to become a powerful Boundary God and join the ranks of deities. How could Wei Chen abandon such a tremendous temptation?
Opportunities like this one were rare; if he missed it now, there might never be another chance.
Wei Chen was very clear about what lay before him.
It was the genuine temptation of Ascend to Godhood!
Although he also possessed his own Spatial Prototype within him, how long would it take for that Spatial Prototype to transform into a true Spatial Plane? And how long would it take for that Spatial Prototype to evolve into a vast world capable of supporting billions of people?
Wei Chen couldn't wait that long.
The only choice was to become the ruler of the Demon Realm, to become the Boundary God here. Such a great opportunity was not something anyone would let slip by, right?
Wei Chen's face showed signs of struggle and conflict. When faced with such a situation, if one did not struggle or feel conflicted, it would be a lie—one that even ghosts wouldn't fall for.
The Sea God quietly watched Wei Chen, waiting for his decision.
Wei Chen was somewhat overestimating the old man's intentions. That elder, once a powerful First-Level Deity, acted with integrity and decisiveness, caring little for anything else. He would never threaten Wei Chen into helping him break the formation. With the temperament of a First-Level Deity, how could he possibly do such a thing?
Wei Chen's worries were unnecessary. The only thing he needed to seriously consider was himself.
A tremendous threat, a massive opportunity, an overwhelming temptation.
Wei Chen was beginning to feel lost about how to navigate this situation.
