Wei Chen had always regarded the Demon Realm Army as a righteous and noble force. He did not want to see them resorting to plundering food due to insufficient supplies.
Such actions were absolutely unacceptable unless it was a last resort.
Once they crossed that line, their prestigious reputation would be irrevocably tarnished. Wei Chen understood deeply that all people have a tendency toward complacency; once they started down that path, it would be difficult to rein them back in. When it came to looting, whatever they wanted would be taken swiftly, and laziness would gradually set in. Moreover, Wei Chen was even more concerned about the Three Hundred Million Demon Army. If they were allowed to raid the Soul World for food, they would undoubtedly mistreat women as well.
After all, the Army had been out for a long time, and it was a miracle that they had managed to hold back their urges for so long. Once they began, there would be no stopping them. Although Wei Chen had absolute control over the inhabitants of the Demon Realm, he preferred that this control stemmed from the Army's respect rather than from coercive measures.
The difference between rules established voluntarily and those enforced through punishment was significant.
For Wei Chen, that gap was unbearable.
Four words: Power of Belief.
If he relied on punitive measures to keep the Demon Realm Army in line, their contributions to the Power of Belief would be minimal.
In fact, Wei Chen had always cared deeply about this aspect. The Power of Belief was essential; although he already possessed Stellar Power and had achieved Star Power Physical Deification, the Power of Belief remained a critical and irreplaceable factor. The Spatial Prototype within Wei Chen's body, under the infusion of Divine Power, was gradually evolving beyond its original form, trending towards becoming a complete Spatial Plane. To fill and shape that Spatial Plane, Stellar Power was one aspect, but Divine Power was equally important!
Wei Chen would not abandon Divine Power, nor would he forsake the three hundred million Army because of the immense benefits derived from their respect and faith. He could sense that as each world fell under his control, the Army's reverence and belief in him deepened. The resulting Power of Belief was also steadily increasing. It would be a grave mistake to allow them to plunder food and mistreat women in the Soul World, leading to severe consequences from a loss of Power of Belief due to punishment.
Thus, the best and only solution was to head to the Soul World as soon as possible and showcase his might there before returning home. In future expeditions to other Spatial Planes, Wei Chen could bring along Yan Qiqi and some elite Demon Race Experts, along with those ready to refine and absorb the Heart of the World; that would suffice.
With these thoughts in mind, Wei Chen felt a sense of urgency.
He looked at the Dark Mage and said seriously, "Grandfather, you should know that we cannot afford to open this Pandora's box; it will lead to chaos."
The Dark Mage sighed and said, "But the supplies are indeed running low... Muen, how much longer can we make do with the provisions?"
"About three years," Muen replied.
The Black Demon Clan member added, "Child, in three years, we must return. Otherwise, we will have no choice but to resort to plundering in these Spatial Planes."
"Grandfather, why do we have to plunder? Isn't barter a better option?" Wei Chen suggested a feasible alternative.
However, the Dark Mage dismissed his proposal.
"Child, you are thinking too simplistically. We have three hundred million Army members, and the food in our Demon Realm is quite sufficient; with normal consumption, it can fill our bellies. However, in a Low-Level Spatial Dimension like the Soul World, the food there would need to be multiplied by hundreds just to satisfy our Demon Realm Army."
The Dark Mage looked worriedly at Wei Chen and continued, "Do you understand what that means? Simply put, our Demon Realm Army is equivalent to three hundred billion strong men. How long do you think the food in the entire Soul World would last us? In a barter system, they can't possibly contribute all their rations to us."
"So without food, we have no choice but to plunder. The result of that will be countless civilians in the Soul World dying—either defending their own food supplies or starving to death."
With that, the atmosphere fell into a heavy silence.
Indeed, Wei Chen had never realized just how significant the difference was between the food consumed by the Demon Realm Army and that found in a Spatial Plane like the Soul World. A hundredfold difference! How much would that amount to over a year? Would the entire Soul World have enough for those three hundred million Army members?
Just doing some quick calculations revealed it wouldn't be enough; people in the Soul World would starve.
Moreover, this time there were not just three hundred million Army members. There were also tens of millions of soldiers from the Nine Immortal Realm and tens of millions from Hua Xia World, along with many Demon Race Experts whose appetites were even more terrifyingly vast.
It was completely unexpected for Wei Chen; the food crisis had suddenly arrived. Previously, he had never imagined that while the Army was on the march, everything would go smoothly, conquering any Spatial Plane with ease. Yet, inexplicably, a food crisis emerged.
Wei Chen had encountered a similar food crisis once before, when the Sea Emperor Nanfeng informed him about the internal shortage of Sea Rice within the Sea Tribe. That crisis was simple to resolve; the Sea Tribe exchanged seafood with the demon clans from the Demon Realm above, as both sides had similar food consumption and energy content in their supplies. It was not difficult to solve.
However, this food crisis within the Soul World caught Wei Chen off guard.
Upon reflection, Wei Chen realized that in the White Out, the Demon Realm was rich in Demonic Energy, the Nine Immortal Realm was abundant in spiritual energy, and the Hua Xia World also had plenty of spiritual energy. The food produced in those three Spatial Planes naturally absorbed local magical or spiritual energy, resulting in a significant energy content. In contrast, most of the energy in the Soul World was elemental force, with only a small amount of spiritual energy present. Therefore, the food produced here would not have high energy content.
Comparatively, Wei Chen felt that the disparity between Dark Mage and Muen could be a hundredfold or even two hundredfold or more. If this delay continued, the Soul World would face catastrophic consequences.
Wei Chen did not want to see such a situation arise—not at all.
“Grandfather, please remain calm. Since you can hold on for another three years, I promise I will bring the Army back to the Demon Realm within that time,” Wei Chen assured him.
The Dark Mage smiled wryly and said, “Actually, it doesn’t matter much anymore. The Army’s expedition relies heavily on local resources. You choose not to take anything; you only seek to control these Spatial Planes—that’s your choice. We have no better options.”
Wei Chen understood what the Dark Mage meant. He spent some time communicating with him and Muen to soothe their emotions before sending them away.
Alone, he began to study formations.
“It has indeed been a long time since I properly studied formations; my Formation Assignment is nearly falling behind.”
“If it weren’t for the Demon Lotus Emperor’s reminder, I might have continued down the path of pursuing absolute power and completely abandoned all my Formation Assignments.”
"Grandpa gave me a wake-up call, which serves as both pressure and motivation for me. If I want to continue gaining the Power of Belief, I must research formations early; otherwise, if the Army falls into chaos, it will be hard to manage."
Wei Chen thought of Old Man Han Mang, whose Formation System slowly resurfaced in his memory.
"Old Man Han Mang is truly a genius in formations. Even those Formation Masters from the Endless Divine Realm might not match his expertise."
"Among thousands of formations lies all the principles of formation. No matter how profound or difficult a formation is, it pales in comparison within Old Man Han Mang's Formation System."
"By combining various types of formations, one can construct powerful arrays. As long as my Mental Strength is strong enough, even a devastating Formation Array can be built using those basic formations."
"The greatest wealth Old Man Han Mang gave me is those formations. It's a pity that I've wasted some time and am close to returning this knowledge to him."
Wei Chen felt a bit ashamed. Old Man Han Mang provided him with such a solid foundation in formations, and he hadn't taken full advantage of it. If Old Man Han Mang found out, he would probably scold him.
Old Man Han Mang had quite a temper; if he was displeased for even a moment, Wei Chen would receive a tongue-lashing. The difference between Old Man Han Mang's expectations of Wei Chen and the Dark Mage's was fundamental. The Dark Mage primarily wanted Wei Chen to help the Dark Magic Family continue its lineage; everything else was secondary. In contrast, Old Man Han Mang demanded that Wei Chen become strong, diligently practice without slackening, and make progress and breakthroughs in formations compared to him.
Both old men were individuals Wei Chen deeply respected, albeit with different directions.
"Old Man Han Mang, rest assured, I will take what you have given me and make it shine, leaving you astounded."
Wei Chen's confidence began to solidify.
In truth, no matter what one does, confidence is extremely important. With confidence, everything becomes manageable; without it, one is left in despair—what can be accomplished then?
Wei Chen hovered in the air, his eyes closed, as various formations appeared in his hands.
Seven months later.
Around Wei Chen, within a radius of several hundred miles, not even a fly could pass through. One formation after another was constructed around him, extending and piling up until it was impenetrable.
The Demon Lotus Emperor and Yan Qiqi, among others, stood at a distance, using their Mental Strength to sense Wei Chen's movements.
Finally, their wait bore fruit.
They "saw" Wei Chen open his eyes, a look of joy appearing on his face.
Immediately afterward, they felt the millions of formations surrounding Wei Chen begin to coalesce and spin, forming a massive Formation Array that whirled like a drill, surging toward the sky.
In just a few breaths, a gigantic Spatial Tunnel emerged in their line of sight.
The scale of this Spatial Tunnel was even larger than the one the Demon Lotus Emperor had opened from Hua Xia World to Soul World!
It no longer resembled a Spatial Tunnel; it looked as if the heavens had been torn apart.
After seven months of effort, Wei Chen had successfully completed the spatial traversal formation!
