Stepping once again onto the soil of Earth, Fang Lin Kong felt a refreshing surge within him. They had just inquired with the examiner, and it turned out that not many candidates had completed their tasks yet, and there was still time before the end of the exam. Those who finished early could take a break or participate in the final comprehensive assessment ahead of schedule.
Having retrieved his bracelet that sealed the Hundred Seas Dragon, the Black Wood Ring, and the Vampire's Kiss, Fang Lin Kong leisurely spent his day.
Meanwhile, Lin Yu and Ye Lisha were at the auction house within the ancient castle, putting up for sale the items they had obtained. Task Beasts were all sellable, and with some other items they had acquired, this exam served as an opportunity for candidates to supplement their living expenses.
Wen Yi and Chen Mingbin didn’t quite understand all this, but they had already agreed to keep what they obtained until Ma Jingjie’s training class returned so they could evenly distribute their gains. Fang Lin Kong, of course, would not receive any share; he had already acquired too much. Moreover, the experiences and powers gained within Zero Boiling Point needed to be re-experienced by them.
After a day of adjustment, Wen Yi, Chen Mingbin, Lin Yu, and Ye Lisha appeared revitalized and full of spirit.
Ye Lisha and Lin Yu both felt that resting here was less appealing than continuing with the exam process. If they could finish early and obtain their Demon Hunter License, they would have time to explore the scenic beauty of Europe. Comparatively speaking, Europe’s historical sites were well-preserved and its landscapes clean and tidy. Additionally, there were many tourist attractions near the Mediterranean where they could spend ample time.
Fang Lin Kong naturally had no objections, and Wen Yi and Chen Mingbin also thought that obtaining their Demon Hunter License sooner was better than idling around here.
The chief examiner Reides immediately met with Feio and Diao Li upon receiving news of Fang Lin Kong's return.
Their conversation naturally turned to the whereabouts of this batch of candidates.
"The American Exorcist Guild has been developing quite well lately, while our Demon Hunting Team needs a lot of fresh blood to replenish our ranks. You must know that Europe and Africa have always been under the responsibility of the Demon Hunting Team. The number of uncontrollable monsters is increasing. We are understaffed!"
Feio lazily interrupted Reides while stroking Diao Li's thigh, saying, "If the Demon Hunting Team can't manage it, we American Exorcist Guild can also help with affairs in Africa."
Reides chuckled lightly, maintaining his composure as he replied, "If Mr. Feio can handle a few major clans in Africa, I personally wouldn’t oppose the American Exorcist Guild establishing a presence there."
Feio smiled lazily and said, "When I say help, I mean helping to dig for gold mines and diamonds—not getting involved in such boring matters as fighting! America has enough on its plate; we won’t meddle in these trivial affairs!"
Reides was left speechless by such a shameless fellow.
Africa is the continent where human influence is the weakest. The Demon Hunting Team from Europe has been present in Africa for thousands of years. However, to this day, the continent is still largely controlled by a few ancient wizard families. Although the Demon Hunting Team has gained considerable benefits from mineral exploitation, they are greatly troubled by the ferocious monsters lurking in Africa. It is important to note that these monsters often serve as guardians of certain tribes; to put it bluntly, Africa is a continent dominated by monsters.
"Regardless, we must recruit Fang Lin Kong and Dinaus into our Demon Hunting Team. I hope the American Exorcist Guild will not interfere!"
Feio narrowed his eyes, stopping his caress of Diao Li's thigh, and said calmly, "Dinaus is a member of the Flame Lion Family. We are well aware of the deep ties between the Flame Lion Family and the Demon Hunting Team. However, Fang Lin Kong is someone our leader, Western Sea, has publicly named as a disciple to recruit. If we return empty-handed, how can we explain ourselves to Lord Western Sea? You should know that he seems quite irritable lately, especially regarding your team leader and that Arlen Xuding Si."
Reides forced a smile, awkwardly shifting away from this contentious topic.
"In that case, we will recruit Dinaus into the Demon Hunting Team; you can take Fang Lin Kong with you. Next, we have a list of outstanding candidates to discuss."
Feio was also unwilling to continue this topic. He glanced back at Diao Li, who had withdrawn her hand from his waist, then turned to Reides to discuss the allocation of candidates.
The atmosphere had been tense earlier. Diao Li had secretly infused spiritual energy into Feio; should Reides make any move, they would be ready to confront him together. Reides was far too powerful for both Nine-Star Demon Hunters to face alone.
Such scenes had played out multiple times since they joined forces with Zhuang Lou to defeat the traitors of the Demon Hunting Team and the International Demon Alliance. Despite being members of Kyo Kusanagi, neither Western Sea nor the leader of the Demon Hunting Team could dictate their organizations' adversarial targets. Thus, even though there had been conflicts between their top leaders, it did not affect cooperation between the two organizations. At most, it created an awkward atmosphere among the core members.
The final qualification assessment for Demon Hunters was merely based on the standards set by the Two Major Organizations to evaluate candidates' combat abilities. The previous exams had already confirmed that those who passed would receive a Demon Hunter License. This final evaluation served only to label candidates' abilities; such preliminary tests could at most grant a three-star rating.
The exam content included the use of Psycho Weapons, combat techniques, and mental resilience during battle scenarios, conducted through a series of simulated combat fatigue tests. Although not many candidates were eliminated in this segment, most failed to achieve high scores, resulting in licenses with no stars at all—only temporary Demon Hunter Licenses.
Fang Lin Kong breezed through most of the exams with ease. Although he had some gaps in knowledge during written tests assessing common sense, there was no doubt he achieved an almost absurdly high score.
However, Fang Lin Kong did not pay much attention to the small booklet resembling a passport that he received. When the chief examiner happily handed him his Demon Hunter License, Fang Lin Kong didn’t even glance at it before pocketing it. This left the examiner feeling somewhat disappointed after intending to congratulate him.
Ye Lisha and Lin Yu were already quite exceptional and had experienced tremendous growth after training in zero-degree space. As recipients of one-star Demon Hunter Licenses this year, they were soon invited to join the American Exorcist Guild. Typically, after obtaining a Demon Hunter license, candidates could choose whether to join the Demon Hunting Team or the American Exorcist Guild—or opt not to join either organization at all. However, those who applied to join both Major Organizations would have to undergo additional assessments and would not be guaranteed approval.
However, the candidates invited by the Two Major Organizations were different. Being invited by the Two Major Organizations often came with some generous conditions and was also a symbol of status, indicating that the candidate was exceptionally outstanding.
The difference between applying on one's own and being invited is evident. Just look at the disparity between graduates from Peking University and Tsinghua University compared to those from ordinary universities, and it becomes clear.
Although Chen Mingbin's abilities were slightly lacking, his hard work earned him an extra star on his license. In contrast, Wen Yi merely skimmed through and received a temporary license. Moreover, there was a peculiar custom in these examinations: they never explained to the candidates the difference between a temporary license and one with a star. The effectiveness of both varied, and only through practical experience would one truly understand. Although Wen Yi noticed that Chen Mingbin's Demon Hunter License differed slightly from his own, the usually careless Robust Boy completely disregarded this detail. Perhaps he had noticed it before but had let it slip away through some crack in his mind.
To be honest, Fang Lin Kong participated in the Demon Hunter License examination primarily to add an extra layer of concern for the enemies of the International Demon Alliance. After all, having a large organization backing him meant that anyone wanting to take action against him would have to consider the consequences.
However, this time he gained far more than he had anticipated. He had achieved the second transformation of Mystic Transformation of the Nine Heavens: Dark Serpent Transformation! Fang Lin Kong now felt confident in confronting the pursuit of the Tartarus clan. Therefore, when the examiner handed him an invitation from the American Exorcist Guild, he simply signed it without much thought. It wasn't until after they left the examination room that Wen Yi heard that Ye Lisha and Lin Yu had also received invitations to join the American Exorcist Guild. Chen Mingbin had received an invitation to join a Demon Hunting Team as well, and upon realizing he hadn’t received one himself, Wen Yi insisted that they show their invitations for him to review.
The terms and promised benefits on Lin Yu's and Ye Lisha's invitations were quite similar, but Chen Mingbin's invitation was significantly different.
Both organizations required their members to complete fixed annual tasks; however, Ye Lisha's and Lin Yu's invitations included full reimbursement for all travel expenses throughout the year, as well as accommodations, training facilities, intelligence information, and other services provided worldwide. In contrast, Chen Mingbin's invitation stipulated that he must enter an internal academy of the Demon Hunting Team within three years for rigorous training. Based on his graduation results, he would be assigned to a specific organization under the Demon Hunting Team. Although he enjoyed up to seven months of fully paid leave, his freedom was clearly less than that offered in Lin Yu's and Ye Lisha's invitations.
Nonetheless, the promise of access to internal materials from the Demon Hunting Team, lectures from seasoned experts, and perfect training was quite tempting.
The difference between the two lay in the fact that the Demon Hunting Team was a tightly organized classical institution with strict discipline and absolute punitive authority over its members. In contrast, the American Exorcist Guild had a more relaxed structure akin to a modern club, granting its members considerable freedom.
After everyone had shared and reviewed these three invitations, Fang Lin Kong suddenly remembered that he also had one.
When Lin Yu asked to see it, Fang Lin Kong handed over his invitation without suspicion.
Lin Yu took one glance and was left speechless before exclaiming in shock.
“Fang Lin Kong! Are you sure this isn’t a forged invitation? The conditions stated here are outrageous! It claims you have senior membership in the Global Yacht Club! What’s this about signing it allows you to own a villa in each of six countries in Europe? And in any state in America, you can have a private farm with a lake! Is this some sort of contract selling yourself to a wealthy woman or a signing document for joining an exorcist guild?!”
Lin Yu’s exclamation piqued the curiosity of Ye Lisha, Wen Yi, and Chen Mingbin, who all gathered around to take a look.
Lin Yu's surprise was not without reason. The Global Yacht Club was a place where the wealthy gathered. Without a yacht of one's own, one could not join this club. Owning a yacht was one of the hallmarks of the world's top billionaires.
There is a saying: "If you were given one hundred million dollars, what would you buy to enjoy?"
You could buy a hundred Rolls-Royces, or several country villas, or even a few private jets, but if you used that money to buy a boat—a super luxury yacht—one hundred million dollars might barely suffice.
Owning a private yacht at the million or ten million level was no longer something that ordinary wealthy individuals could afford. Only true billionaires could indulge in such luxuries.
In fact, the conditions set by the American Exorcist Guild were not unreasonable. A high-level Demon Hunter was often also a successful treasure seeker. The treasures that monsters painstakingly collected often ended up in the hands of the Demon Hunters who eliminated them. Ordinary entrepreneurs might be able to afford these luxurious items, but they would typically invest their money in business activities that promised higher profits rather than in luxury goods that did not yield financial returns. Only those whose wealth came from dubious sources and whose means of acquisition were questionable would spend lavishly on enjoying life. The American Exorcist Guild offered Fang Lin Kong these privileges along with corresponding obligations; compared to this, once Fang Lin Kong fulfilled these responsibilities, he would bring back tenfold, hundredfold, or even thousandfold returns to the Exorcist Guild.
Moreover, young men like Fang Lin Kong, Lin Yu, and Ye Lisha could not grasp the harshness behind this agreement. It provided luxurious enjoyment while demanding corresponding duties without granting Fang Lin Kong any real power. He was merely a senior worker under Western Sea; of course, there wouldn't be many such high-ranking workers in the world.
The Dodge Hummer that the five had rented was now out of commission. They needed to find new transportation back to the city. Additionally, if they signed the invitation from the Two Major Organizations, they would have to report within the specified timeframe and complete numerous formalities.
At this moment, Chen Mingbin felt a shift in his thoughts. He had considered applying to join the American Exorcist Guild but realized that although the conditions of the Demon Hunting Team were not as generous, their rigorous training program undeniably contributed to personal growth and improvement.
While Chen Mingbin didn't have as much to say as Wen Yi, his considerations ran deeper than Wen Yi's.
"Rather than joining them for excitement, it would be better to solidly train my own abilities! The Demon Hunting Team is much better at training its internal members than the American Exorcist Guild. Yes! I think this is the best choice!"
Fang Lin Kong did not notice Chen Mingbin's expression; he wore an indifferent look as he discussed future plans with Lin Yu.
Just as they were about to share their arrangements with everyone, Ye Lisha spoke up first.
"I came to Europe to visit my aunt's family who has immigrated here. I won't be able to stay with you for the next few days. Let's reconnect when I return home! My address and phone number are with Lin Yu; you can copy them down!"
As soon as Ye Lisha finished speaking, she waved her hand and left gracefully, leaving behind her slender figure that reminded Fang Lin Kong of how charming this intelligent girl was when they were together.
Fang Lin Kong waved his hand in resignation as he turned away, only to find Chen Mingbin wearing a heavy expression. "I'm heading to the Demon Hunting Team's local branch to report in a bit. There might be some matters to attend to, so you don't have to wait for me, Fang Lin Kong!"
Rubbing his forehead, Fang Lin Kong shot a fierce look at Wen Yi and said, "You fatso! You won’t have anything else going on, will you?"
Wen Yi chuckled mischievously. "I just saw Ma Jingjie heading to that training class, and they’re still enrolling. I’m thinking of sneaking in to see if there are any romantic encounters. Plus, I want to cheer up Old Horse's gloomy mood. Fang Lin Kong, why don’t you ask Miss Lin Yu if she’s free to accompany you?"
Fang Lin Kong was starting to feel frantic. Meanwhile, Lin Yu ignored Wen Yi's antics and addressed Fang Lin Kong. "I don’t have anything planned either, but you don’t seem to have any plans, do you? Where do you want to go play?"
Fang Lin Kong waved his hand dismissively. "We can talk about these things later; let’s just report in first. Wen Yi, remember to give this thing to Old Horse when you see him and tell him it’s from me—don’t keep it for yourself."
What Fang Lin Kong pulled out was something everyone recognized: the Sealing Ring he used for sealing magical beasts. Each of the four had one in their possession. Ye Lisha and Lin Yu had the Yellow Camel, while Chen Mingbin and Wen Yi held the Unicorn Dragon.
Wen Yi took the Sealing Ring from Fang Lin Kong with curiosity and asked, "What are you giving Old Horse? We already have Riding Beasts; why would we want Ma Jingjie’s share?"
Fang Lin Kong grinned slyly. "What it is will be clear once Ma Jingjie opens it; I’m not telling you now!"
Wen Yi spat playfully and waved goodbye to Fang Lin Kong before heading off with his backpack to handle the enrollment procedures for the training class.
Chen Mingbin watched Wen Yi leave and was about to walk away himself when Fang Lin Kong placed a hand on his shoulder, ready to speak. Suddenly, a cold voice came from behind them.
"Fang Lin Kong! Who would have thought that someone like you could also obtain a three-star hunter's license? It turns out it's you!"
