Disguising oneself was not merely a matter of changing appearances. Newton understood that the Dragon Slayer Mages and those in the Guild were far too overpowered, with their distinct presence and aura.
Thus, he altered his physique, scent, and nearly his entire image.
While the state of Newton and his companions was set aside for the moment, the internal conflict within Fairy Tail was heating up.
Fairy Tail was already a rather boisterous Guild; even a minor argument could escalate into a fight. Now, with Laxus having set up a fighting stage, tensions were running high.
No one felt a sense of crisis. Although Newton had been taken hostage, his demeanor suggested he was willingly petrified, making it hard for anyone to feel anxious. Instead, many viewed this as an opportunity for a battle stage, leading to an eruption of various conflicts.
For instance, Natsu and Gray collided head-on. Their inherent animosity flared up instantly, and without exchanging words, they began to fight. Flames and ice clashed fiercely as they prepared to take down Bigusro, who was swiftly sent flying by their combined assault.
"Damn it! You two idiots! No wonder no one can defeat either of you!"
Bigusro was cunning and quickly sought to exploit the advantage of the terrain. However, when Gray and Natsu teamed up, their intelligence seemed to drop significantly. Gray had been relatively calm until he was ignited by Natsu's fiery spirit.
The two charged at Bigusro together, who led them into an alleyway.
"Hahaha, here..."
Bang!
The alley was supposed to be sealed off from magic; however, he clearly overlooked one crucial detail: Natsu was a Dragon Slayer Mage. Dragon Slayer Magic allowed him to transform his body into that of a dragon. With this enhancement, Natsu could easily overpower Bigusro without any difficulty.
"Who do you think is stronger between us?"
Natsu grabbed Bigusro by the collar, flames erupting from his mouth as he shouted. He knew he couldn't use magic, but somehow, he was still breathing fire.
"You..."
Bigusro's Puppet magic allowed for remote control, meaning the Puppet could attack from outside the spell's range. However, underestimating a dragon's instincts proved to be a mistake. Just as Bigusro's Puppet was about to launch an attack, Natsu instinctively flung Bigusro behind him.
"I..."
"Boom!"
Bigusro fell to the ground, his face charred black. He couldn't even summon his eye magic in time; it was truly a tragic turn of events.
"Gray, did you hear that? I'm stronger than him!"
Bigusro had intended to curse Natsu, but as soon as he opened his mouth to speak, he was attacked instead, leading to Natsu's misunderstanding.
"Are you an idiot?"
Gray had been somewhat anxious; not being able to use magic greatly influenced a Mage's combat ability. Yet, seeing the tragic state of Bigusro made him silently mourn for his opponent. Still, he couldn't accept that Natsu was stronger than himself.
"Let's go outside and keep fighting!"
Gray's intelligence kicked in. Engaging in close combat with a Dragon Slayer Mage? No way—he wasn't Erza.
"Go!"
Natsu casually tossed Bigusro aside, and Gray went off to find another place to brawl.
There was one pair, and then there was another pair: Salusuk and Dolaire, Reby's two teammates. Both of them had a crush on Reby, and they had clashed over her many times before. This time, they boldly started fighting over Reby's right to a date. However, what they didn't know was that Reby was currently being held by Miraj, who was busy dispelling spells while searching for Laxus.
Compared to the lively Bigusro, the other two members of the Thunder God Clan stayed close to Laxus. Their original plan was to set up spells everywhere and let everyone fight amongst themselves, picking them off one by one. But no one expected Newton to strike like this, completely shattering Laxus's plans.
"Laxus..."
Jai Sting looked at the silent Laxus. Being quite familiar with him, he knew that Laxus was now extremely angry.
"How many members of Fairy Tail are left?"
Laxus asked but then shook his head.
"Forget it. Our plan has already been ruined. Aren't you going out?"
"We are your guards," Jai Sting replied loyally.
"Ha, go ahead, hunt some fairies."
Laxus waved his hand, clearly not intending to let Jace Sting and Evangeline stay by his side.
"They should be coming here, and when they do, you might very well face..."
"Are you saying I can't handle them?"
A bolt of lightning struck right beside Jace Sting, cutting off his words.
"If it's just one person, maybe. But what if they all come after you?"
Jace Sting remained loyal in his response.
"Get lost!"
Laxus roared, driving the two of them away.
"As for that, Jace Sting is only looking out for you."
Newton unexpectedly appeared next to Laxus.
"Memory Body?"
Laxus couldn't be bothered to dispel such a Memory Body, his expression still defiant.
"Are you here to mock me?"
"Well, everyone can see that you still like Fairy Tail."
Newton sat beside Laxus.
"Do you really think I wouldn't smash your statue?"
"Alright, alright, I won't, but you have to tell me what exactly you're planning to do. I went around the city too, and if it comes down to a fight, who knows how many will be left standing? Are you only aiming for the victor? If that's the case, even if you win in the end, the Guild will just be an empty shell."
Newton pulled out a can of drink and handed it to Laxus.
"Ha! The weak have no reason to exist."
"The weak have their own ways of surviving; animals have their own lives."
"But Fairy Tail doesn't need the weak!"
"A Guild can't function solely with strong members."
Newton chuckled; it was indeed true.
"Logistics, diplomacy, and dealing with other Guilds—these talents are what hold a Guild together. If you only have a group of fighters who don't understand these things, do you really think you can run a Guild? A few people can't sustain a Guild."
Newton suddenly seemed to remember something, a hint of embarrassment crossing his face.
"Right, there really is one, the Dark Guild known as the Six Demon Generals. It really consists of six members, doesn't it? Are you seriously planning to clear everyone out and make Fairy Tail a four-member Guild with just you and the Thunder God Clan? Oh, and Bigusro lost too, so that makes it a three-member Guild?"
Laxus shot a glare at Newton, a bolt of lightning crackling in the air.
"Hah..."
Newton dodged swiftly, but just as he was about to say something, his expression suddenly changed, and then his figure slowly began to fade away.
"Is something wrong?"
Laxus stood up. Thanks to Memory Body, unless it was the original body summoning or his magic power had run out, what was happening?
"Boom!"
And then Sting was blasted into the scene.
"Sorry, they arrived a bit too quickly."
Laxus's expression darkened as he looked at the furious Demon Mira, the armored Erza, and the trembling Reby. Well, she could be ignored; there were no other people around.
"Get out of my way! I have things to do and no time to waste here with you!"
"Release the magic now!"
Miraj, filled with rage, completely ignored Laxus's words.
Laxus frowned as he looked at Sting.
"Sting, go check on Newton and come back to tell me the details. Hurry up."
Electricity crackled around Laxus as he faced Miraj and Erza, while Sting paused for a moment before quickly heading towards the statue.
"Reby, you should go check as well."
Erza, still maintaining her composure, felt uneasy about Laxus's actions and urged Reby to follow Sting.
Reby understood that she couldn't contribute much here, so she rushed after Sting.
Meanwhile, Newton had already received a response from his Memory Body, a sly smile spreading across his face.
"Ha, everything is ready. It's our turn to make an appearance."
