"Are you awake?"
Marlon looked at Pascale lying on the bed alongside Elfman. The difference was that Pascale only had bandages wrapped around her hand, and her injuries were primarily due to the depletion of magic and stamina, so her wounds were not severe.
Elfman, on the other hand, was much worse off; there was hardly a good piece of flesh left on his body, which was covered in bruises and swelling. Not only that, but several of his internal organs were ruptured, and a few bones were broken.
Marlon had wrapped Elfman up like a mummy, ensuring that the inside was coated with herbs to help him recover more quickly.
"Doctor, is Elfman going to be okay?"
Evangeline walked in, carrying some food, looking somewhat worried.
"He's fine now."
Marlon was a bit surprised; he had expected Miraj or Lisanna to come first, not her. It seemed there really was something going on between those two.
"Let's go. The competition is over anyway. Well, I and the nurse... never mind, we won't be coming back."
Marlon pulled out a suspicious box from the drawer beside him.
"Here, safety measures. If you feel overwhelmed or lacking in enthusiasm, I only have some pills that can enhance your abilities. As for props, you'll have to figure that out yourselves."
Without caring about their flushed faces, Marlon dragged Evangeline out.
This time, the two had no particular destination in mind and could only wander aimlessly. However, news soon reached them that Sword-Biting Tiger was in trouble.
In the earlier fight, Elfman's match could only be considered exciting, but what truly got everyone fired up was the showdown between Miraj and Jenny from Azure Wind Antelope. The two showcased their figures on stage, with the loser having to pose nude for the next magazine issue. Marlon nearly exploded at that moment.
Fortunately, he knew what Jenny from Azure Wind Antelope was thinking. If it had just been a photo contest, Miraj might not have won. But in the end, Jenny proposed a real battle against Miraj—not a photoshoot but an actual combat match. Did she really think she could defeat Miraj? After all, Miraj was a genuine S-Class mage capable of going toe-to-toe with Erza; she nearly made Jenny cry during their fight.
Jenny's defeat came as no surprise, but the audience was in an uproar. This battle was part of a competition, and with Jenny losing, she would have to feature her nude photo in the next issue of the magazine as per their bet. Marlon could already imagine how explosive the next magazine issue would be.
The final match was set to be a showdown between Yukino Aguria, the newcomer from Sword-Biting Tiger, and Kagura from Mermaid's Heel.
This match felt calmer compared to the previous one. Although both were beautiful girls, they lacked the intensity of the earlier fight, making it seem somewhat dull in comparison.
However, some spectators were quite excited.
Yukino Aguria was a Celestial Spirit Mage, wielding the keys of Pisces and Libra, along with the key of Ophiuchus that surpassed the twelve zodiac signs. Her strength was already impressive. But more importantly was Yukino's identity; now that it was confirmed she was indeed a Celestial Spirit Mage, Marlon believed many would start to take action.
In fact, before anyone else could act, issues had already arisen within Sword-Biting Tiger.
Geman, the President of Sword-Biting Tiger, was a strong advocate for might above all else and cared little for his guildmates. So when Yukino lost, Geman was furious.
"You! Get down on your knees!"
Apologies, apologies; this was Pineapple Ding's line, but Geman's sentiment was not far off.
"My guild doesn't need useless members!"
Geman had a fierce appearance, much like a menacing figure from folklore.
"President, Yukino Aguria's loss isn't entirely her fault; that woman named Kagura is truly formidable."
Sting stepped forward with a frown. It was a critical moment; allowing Yukino to leave like this could negatively influence future events. Even though confronting the President might be necessary now, Sting chose to stand up for Yukino.
Rogue felt somewhat helpless but realized that most of the guild had already been swayed by him, Sting, and Minerva. Even if Geman were to step down now, it might not have much influence on Sword-Biting Tiger—perhaps it could even lead to further advancement for them.
Rogue looked over at Minerva and found her lost in thought as well. However, at that moment, Sting was already arguing with Geman.
"I refuse to expel Yukino Aguria like this!" Sting shouted at Geman, his face flushed and his magic power beginning to stir uneasily.
"Do you want to take a swing at me? It seems I need to teach you a lesson on how to respect the strong!" Geman's muscles bulged as his own magic power surged.
"I..." Sting's momentum faltered instantly, but Geman had no intention of letting Sting off the hook. Since he dared to provoke him, he would make sure Sting understood the consequences of challenging his authority.
Geman's fist crackled with magic energy. His magical abilities were similar to Pascale's, but as a seasoned fighter, Geman was undoubtedly far superior. A single punch from him could easily leave Sting incapacitated for half a month.
"Stop!"
Minerva suddenly appeared in front of Sting, distorting space and causing Geman's punch to miss. In an instant, Rogue materialized behind Geman, flanking him on both sides, and Geman felt darkness enveloping him.
"Minerva?"
Sting was taken aback, surprised that his two companions had come to his rescue. But before he could react further, he saw Rogue launch another attack aimed at Geman's neck.
Unfortunately, Geman's physical prowess was too formidable; he reacted quickly and grabbed Rogue by the arm, tossing him aside effortlessly.
"Boom!"
"Wow, it's quite lively here."
Marlon caught Rogue with one hand. After receiving news from Minerva, he hurried over with ginger in hand. It seemed that some trouble had arisen.
"What happened? Is someone hurt?"
"No, it's just a minor issue within the Guild, but we might need Dr. Marlon's help soon."
Minerva breathed a sigh of relief. With Marlon here, at least there was a safety net. However, she didn't intend to rely on Marlon's assistance; she wanted to use her own strength to break the terrifying rule of Geman and bring the Sword-Biting Tiger under her control.
"Father, your methods may be powerful, but they are not suitable for the current Sword-Biting Tiger. I ask you to step down from the position of President!"
Minerva's words stunned everyone in the Guild. Was this a coup? Yet more than anything, there was excitement in the air because after more than a year under Geman, they had truly had enough.
"Heh, a brat dares to defy me? Then let me show you what it means to be strong!"
Geman was indeed powerful; even Marlon couldn't help but admire the magical energy emanating from him.
"However, it's a pity that the growth of these three has exceeded your imagination..."
