Erin's departure was not surprising to Newton; after all, she was not one of their own. Even if she left, it wouldn't mean much. However, Acnologia would not let her go so easily. Just like Newton, she wasn't on their side, so Emerald Dragon and the others did not stop Acnologia's intentions. In fact, they hoped he could bring Erin back. Facing Acnologia, having one more dragon on their side would only strengthen their power.
On the other side, the Dragon Slayers who had been thrown out by the dragons were charging back like madmen. Among them, the five Dragon Slayers raised by dragons were the most powerful in their rush.
"Let go of me!"
Natsu's body was already covered in Dragon Scales, and the terrifying power made Laxus frown slightly.
"Calm down, Natsu! If you go now, you'll just be delivering yourself!"
Laxus held onto Natsu with all his strength, aided by his armor. Sting and Rogue were similarly restrained by their armor, while Gajeel and Wendy were held back by Cobra.
"Everyone, calm down!"
Newton's voice came from within the armor.
"What can you accomplish by going over there? Do you really think you can defeat Acnologia? You'll only be a burden!"
"But I finally..."
Natsu was still unwilling to accept it. Yes, he had finally found his foster father, but now they were about to part ways again. How could he be at ease in such a situation?
"Listen, your foster father has already written everything he wanted to say in that scarf. The reason they are coming out now is that they don't want you to face Acnologia. You will only hold them back!"
"But..."
Natsu wanted to argue further, but the reality was as it was. Just when all the Dragon Slayers were feeling dejected, a clear voice rang out, accompanied by an unusual surge of magic.
"Personality Augmentation!"
Everyone was caught off guard, even Newton seemed a bit dazed, and Mavis had never heard of what the so-called Personality Augmentation magic was. But soon enough, reality would reveal to them just what kind of magic it truly was.
Wendy suddenly extended her hand, channeling her magical power like a sharp blade that pierced through the chest of the nearest Cobra.
"You..."
Cobra looked at Wendy in disbelief, unable to comprehend why this girl had suddenly struck so ruthlessly.
"Get out of the way!"
Newton rushed over, his armor enveloping Cobra before sealing shut and launching upward. Meanwhile, another suit of armor quickly swooped in and grabbed Erin.
"Newton, what's going on?"
Natsu still didn't quite grasp the situation. Not only him, but Gajeel beside him was also taken aback, though he reacted swiftly.
"Hey, Newton, this can't be happening!"
"There's nothing impossible about it. If the other party is indeed the creator of this augmentation magic, then I suppose it's not beyond reason for them to achieve such a feat."
Newton's voice was filled with resignation as he gently shook Erin in his arms.
"It's useless. Although I'm surprised you can tell what I've done, what does it matter if you can see through it?"
Wendy's face displayed an expression that belied her age, giving off a somewhat sinister vibe.
"This body is truly satisfying; young, full of energy and vitality."
Personality Augmentation, akin to soul possession in cultivation tales, allows one's consciousness to attach itself to another's body, achieving the goal of reviving oneself in a different form. Such manipulation could almost be considered divine intervention.
"Capture her!"
Newton felt little about Wendy's body being taken over. Once he was able to create humanoid robots that were nearly indistinguishable from real people, the concept of a body became as trivial as changing clothes. However, the main hurdle was still psychological; after all, it was akin to the Ship of Theseus paradox. When every plank of the ship is replaced with a different one, can it still be considered the same ship? Thus, it was necessary to retrieve Wendy's body. Moreover, this was a time of war, and if the enemy used Wendy's body for espionage, it would lead to even greater troubles.
"Just you?"
Various additional spells rapidly enhanced Wendy's (Eileen's) speed and strength. However, this was not Eileen's body. Even though Personality Augmentation had infiltrated Wendy, the use of magic and certain powers was not as proficient as that of the original owner. For instance, in terms of magical capacity, Wendy's body could not compare to Eileen's. Additionally, regarding Dragon Power usage, although Eileen could transform into a dragon, she seemed completely unable to utilize Dragon Power for some reason.
"Additional Separation!"
Wendy—or rather Eileen—awoke at this moment. Despite sharing the same issues as Wendy (Eileen), feeling the terrifying magic within her body made Eileen realize that even simple additional spells produced astonishing effects.
Wendy (Eileen) swayed slightly, almost being forced out of this body. This time, Eileen truly felt anxious. If it were just her and Wendy, then capturing Wendy and binding herself or taking some measures would prevent being surrounded by enemies. However, Acnologia's appearance made her panic; she had acted recklessly in her plundering without considering the consequences.
Although Eileen's body and Natsu's group were covered in wounds and had expended a significant amount of magic power, for these individuals with protagonist auras, it was hardly an issue. They could easily tap into their second reserves of magic power. Thus, Wendy (Eileen) ended up in a tragic situation, being pressed down and rubbed against the ground. While her body indeed belonged to Wendy, these individuals were accustomed to fighting in the Guild. Natsu was the type who thrived on chaos; Laxus completely disregarded others; Cobra was indifferent; Gajeel also didn't care at all; Sting and Rogue trusted Newton implicitly, believing that no matter how badly they hurt Wendy, Newton would be able to save her. They didn’t seem to notice that their own Guild members were fighting as if their lives depended on it. Their reckless approach made Sharlulu’s eyes nearly burst into flames with anger. However, she knew her master was being subdued and questioned why they were being so brutal. Yet Sharlulu couldn't intervene in the ongoing battle; she could only mentally note down everyone's names for future reckoning.
On the other side, Wendy (Eileen) seemed to have finally reached her limit and automatically left Wendy's body, forcing Wendy back into her own form.
